Chapter 45: The Pack Agrees to go East

“When did Makenzie get so strong?” Aiden asked. The young shifter was almost as unaware of the finer workings of pack politics as Stella. The only non shifter in the group.

“Not strong so much as lawless.” Bennett said.

“He’s always been selfish. Mean. More than necessary.” Dana added.

Stella nodded. She didn’t know so much about the shifter world. But she knew a thing or two about Makenzie. He’d attacked her. Kidnapped her. Tried to get Bennett to turn on her. Tried to get Bennett killed for not turning on her. Killed Dana’s brother. His own father. And now he wanted to take away what was once Bennett’s. Right along with all the shifters he’d grown up with.

Stella didn’t know who that pack was destined to be run by. But she hoped to all that was holy, it wouldn’t be Makenzie.

“Whatever I can do to help.” She said. “I’m in.”

Bennett grabbed her by the hands. His steely eyes intent on hers “This won't change anything.” He promised. “We’ll have our ceremony.”
