Aiden was in the kitchen when they found him. Elbow deep in the oven, pulling out a roasted chickens slathered in butter and decorated with lemons and thyme.
“That looks good.” Dana said, coming up behind them.
Stella jumped. Scary Wolf sure could sneak up on a person without a sound. She tucked that realization away for later. Maybe she could buy Dana a nice charm bracelet, add a bell. Or something.
“For when Dad gets here.” Aiden said simply.
Stella noticed the table was set for six people. Was she going to meet Bennett’s father? The NYC alpha?
She glanced down at her cotton skirt and the wrinkled tee shirt she was wearing. Wishing she hadn’t been so careless when she’d thrown them off in Bennett’s bedroom.
At the time it’d seemed well worth the destruction of her outfit. His room. But faced with the reality of meeting his family, formally, for the first time. It had her feeling like her stomach had dropped out of her body all together.
