When they reached the gates of the Rudolf Estate, Enzo stopped walking. He stared at the arc of the tall gates and reimagined the castle that should lie behind such a gate. He already held and walked with one pup from his youngest litter, yet why was she going home to another house?
"Daddy!" Megan's voice sounded, and Enzo woke up from his trance. Before he could turn to find Megan, he already saw her run past him and deep into the gates. Right, her recognized father was the thief that took away the pups from Nikita that day—a thief that stole his pups from his mate.
"Keep walking." As if aware of Enzo's budding fury, Nicholai spoke as he passed the man by. "Be mindful of your actions inside my house, Enzo. I care not if Sheratan and his friends come to fetch you, but you will suffer from my hands if you dare harm Darius. He's my mate, and I will kill anyone who dared to draw blood from him."
