First Life-and-Death Fight (1)

[Just what is that?!]

Liam, who rarely gets shocked, spoke with panic.

[Master, immediately get away from there!]

It is only right that Liam fears for the life of his Master. After all, the four-legged creature in front of them is a horned beast that is over three meters tall. It has a resemblance to a wolf but its claws are much sharper and its eyes are more ferocious. Currently, the beast is growling savagely towards the person standing in front of it - Charlie.

"I-I can't!" Charlie managed to mumble despite his shaking spirit. "Can't you s-see that there's a person right there?"

Indeed, the creature was dragging a bloodied body with its mouth. Its razor-edged fans seem to be embedded deeply into the body's shoulders.

[You can't even protect yourself and you want to save that person?!]

Charlie can hear the exasperation and concern in Liam's voice.

[Besides, we don't even know if that person is still alive. Please, Master, I beg you! Just run!]

"No!" he stubbornly replied, "If that person is still alive, we may still be able to save him!"

[Master!]

Liam was rendered silent as the creature let go of the body in its mouth and gave a loud roar. Following that, Charlie felt wind pressure accumulating just in front of its opened mouth, as if it is charging for an attack.

He dodged to the side as soon as the creature released the attack with another loud roar. Although he managed to dodge, he still received a few wounds on his right arm as it was hit by a few stray wind blades.

[Master, pick up the sword to your left!]

He immediately rolled to the left and agilely picked up the sword lying on the ground. It was a bit heavy for him to lift but having a weapon is better than nothing. He stood up, intending to face off with the wolf-life beast but the latter was already set on another attack.

[Duck!]

On instinct, he followed Liam's words and squatted. It ultimately saved his life as the beast swiped past over his head with its three sharp claws.

He didn't let himself rest. As soon as he felt the beast swipe on top of his head, he immediately escaped to the side. The beast, upon knowing that its prey has escaped, growled angrily and turned his head, but what greeted him was a swung sword almost arriving at its neck.

Charlie held his breath as he anticipated wounding the beast. He gave all his strength into this one attack. However, his hopes were dashed when the sound of metal clashing rang throughout the vicinity.

Looking closely, the sword that Charlie expected to draw the beast's blood was blocked by the latter's fur which seems to be as durable as metal. The beast gave out a low growl as if warn the prey that fought back that it made the wrong choice.

As he was close to the beast, it immediately sprung into action and attempted to bite his sides. But he was faster, drawing his sword back and parrying the beast's face away.

It may not look like it but Charlie actually has great strength and self-defense martial art. All of them were cultivated by the hard work he put on while he was working on the fields and taming the spiritual and farm beasts inside the space.

Of course, Charlie was still having a hard time protecting himself as this was the first time he's facing off this beast. This wolf-like beast is also emitting a very dense killing intent.
