EP 72 - CORNERED MICE .

Davion grinned cynically as he placed his hand on the arrow that was thrust into his heart. .

He mocked and Forcefully yanking it out, the vampire threw it down at Kyra's feet.

Su ling shook the die and rolled again.

"4"

Kyra pulled back her bow string and this time aimed for his forehead. This made Davion stumble backward from the hit. Making use of this opportunity , Kyra kicked the door open and began her escape. His evil laughter rang out , echoing throughout the walls of his Castle of doom.

"You can't kill what is already dead." He jeered . "I will find you." Davion growled.

"I always do."

She treaded quickly down the stairs. There was no need to try the doors . Davion must have already shut her in to prevent her from freeing herself . She had no useful weapon in this situation as neither her arrows nor her Scythe would inflict even the barest scratch on him.

The house was the definition of magnificence and splendor. The chandeliers and the tasteful decorations. The golden chalices and the silverware. But all looked abandoned as well as unkempt. It seemed Davion didn't have time to look after his numerous riches.

Why would he, when he was always lurking in the dark looking for his next mice.

Hanging on the wall she had seen a scratched Portrait framed with the purest gold of a lovely young woman. It was destroyed in a fit a rage that she knew only too well. Kyra touched the painting but then she heard heavy footsteps descending as she hid herself in the kitchens. Rats scurried past her legs and Cockroaches made scattered noises inside dusty and moldy pots . All she had to do was wait until sunrise and then expose him to sunlight.

That meant she had to keep herself alive till then.

"You can run pet , but you can't hide!!!" Davion said without empathy as he searched for Kyra.

"I'd never thought I'd fall for the psychopathic type." Kyra called out to him. "The pretty ones are most times the craziest. Shame , I almost liked you."

"What a shame indeed." He replied and entered the kitchen.

She wasn't there.

Davion approached the corridor and she held her breath. The bloodlust vampire turned away and headed in another direction

"What do you want with me? To drain my blood? Just go rob a blood bank or something." Kyra said and stealthily crawled through the shadows. He was pompous as well as careless. If she could feed his ego long enough to keep him distracted ...

She might have a chance to survive.

"Of course not. I've already had my dinner." Davion licked his lips. "Humans are meant to be eaten. It the order of the world. The strong eat the weak." Davion smiled as he saw her run past him in the shadows .He could smell her , even hear the faintness of her breath from miles away. He could have taken her already but this was the fun part for him...

The Cat and mouse game.

Just like a prowling cat hunting the fearful mouse. He liked to let them escape. Give them false hope. Just before they think they finally make it, you take that hope away and dash it against the rocks. Davion liked it as their blood pumps and the adrenaline rushes through them.

But this wasn't his plan for Kyra . He needed her for something else.

Kyra tapped behind the unusually huge furnace. It wasn't hot as the burning coal had been doused with water. Pushing with all her remaining will , she opens it up revealing a secret passageway. Sensing Davion coming up behind her , Kyra hurried down in the bottomless gulf of darkness.

**************

Conrad knocked on the door , obviously still drunk. He must have wanted to check in on the girls before heading to bed as he hasn't seen them for hours.

He knocked again.

No response.

Okay ...Now he was worried.

He stepped into to the room. Neither Kyra nor Avyanna was to be seen. He touched the bed to feel the temperature and it was still cold.

How long had they been gone? When and why did they leave?

These were the thoughts that ran through his mind as he want back into the ale house. Sighting Levi and Percival at a table surrounded by women , Conrad edged his way through the crowd and told them of the circumstances.

Levi pushed aside the lady that was nestled in his arm and got up. "What?" He cocked an eyebrow. " Are you still drunk?"

"No...Yes...That's not the point! The point is that they are missing." Conrad said .

"How could they have just left?" Percival queried.

"I don't know but they aren't in their room." Conrad related.

"Are you sure of this?" Levi questioned.

"I am ...94% sure." Conrad nodded.

"Good enough for me." Percival shrugged.

'Let's get them back." Levi Declared but Conrad was confused. "How? We don't know where they are?"

"Just trust me." The man with the white hair winked and together the three men left the house of Merriment and drinks and wandered into the black of night.

----------------------------

Kyra was panting.

He'd found her.

And she was so close. It would soon be sunrise as the first Cockerel had crowed. If she could find a way to stall for some hours...

"There is an easy way you can get rid of him , Kyra." The cracked voice spoke out.

"Not now." Kyra winced as she held the sides of her head. It was like a sea of voices , each shouting out their own opinions.

"You could rip him to shreds." One yelled.

"Devour his soul." Another screamed out.

"Tear out his dead heart and consume it."

"No , I won't ! I will not turn into that monster.' Kyra cried . In the process , she knocked over a bottle and it came crashing on the ground.

Kyra gasped.

Davion lifted up his head and smiled.

It was game over and they both knew it.

Kyra tried to run , but she instantly felt a hand pressing against her neck as she tried to breathe. She could see his true face and form now. the man that she had almost fallen for. He was horrible , frightful , appalling, revolting and hideous as well.

Davion was as white as snow and not the healthy kind either. His eyes were red with only a dot of black being any semblance of reality. Dark veins , where blood was supposed to course through, stood out. His fangs sharp and deadly , stood out more than ever.

She struggled to speak but couldn't because ...

She was choking.

Davion released some pressure from her neck and Kyra took in huge gulps of fresh air.

He grinned maliciously .

"You won't die yet my pet. Not until I am done with you."

Kyra shuddered at what he had in store for her.
