Chapter 5 I'm Going to Make You Lose Your Job!

"Mr. Reed, congratulations on your inheritance of Tripod Group."

Sarah entered the office, closed the door, and said to Shelton with a smile on her face. Then she held out her fair hand.

Shelton forced a smile and shook her hand. "Come on, Old Mr. Reed planned everything. He'll choose another man to be his heir if I ever anger him. I should envy you. You are the president of Branch of Tripod Group in the State of New York. It is the most powerful company."

Sarah reassured him with a smile, "Mr. Reed, cheer up. Old Mr. Reed is not a temperamental man. You can achieve anything in the State of New York. I'll be your most loyal assistant."

"Forget it."

Shelton waved his hand. "Most who are first pay the price. That's what I've come to after twenty years in the Reed family. Now that I've signed the inheritance agreement, I just want to live an ordinary life as a live-in son-in-law. I'm married. I don't want to die so young or leave my wife a widow."

The smile stiffened on Sarah's face.

She knew what Shelton meant.

"I didn't think this through."

Sarah bowed slightly, showing her cleavage.

Shelton hurriedly averted his gaze and changed the subject. "My wife's company is in trouble and needs a loan of 20 million dollars. Someone is sabotaging it. Can you help her?"

"Sure, I've prepared it."

Then Sarah went to the safe next to her desk, pulled out two cards, one gold and one black, and handed them to Shelton.

"This is the VIP Black Card from Citibank with 200 million dollars on it. Old Mr. Reed asked me to give it to you for your daily expenses."

"This Golden Card is from Mr. Luther, the president of Branch of Citibank in Chicago. Everyone who has a lot of money in there has one and can get an interest-free, mortgage-free loan of 20 million dollars a year. This one is special and you can get an interest-free, mortgage-free loan of 40 million dollars a year. Mrs. Reed can take it to Mr. Luther."

Shelton didn't hesitate to accept the two cards.

His hands and feet had been broken. For Vera, he was willing to stop hating them. 200 million dollars was nothing to them.

"Well, I've got to go."

Now that Vera could get the loan, he didn't want to stay there any longer.

"Wait a minute, Mr. Reed."

Sarah called out to him.

"Anything else?"

Shelton turned around.

"Villa No. 1 in Dragon Villa Area developed by Tripod Group is now in your name. Old Mr. Reed put Shawn and Claire, who were good to you in the Reed family, in Villa No. 1, where there's the ointment for your hands and feet and a couple of private luxury cars Old Mr. Reed bought you," Sarah said.

"He's being sincere."

Shelton sneered and held out his hand to Sarah. "Give me the car keys. I'm going to see Shawn and Claire."

When he was a kid, Shawn would treat him when his siblings hurt him and Claire would cook for him when his siblings wouldn't let him eat.

As a result, Shawn and Claire were closer to him than the Reed family.

"Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, or Mercedes?" Sarah asked with a smile.

Shelton chose the Mercedes S65 and drove from Tripod Group to Villa No. 1 in the Dragon Villa Area.

"Mr. Reed, we haven't seen you in over three years. Shawn and I have missed you."

Outside the iron gate of Villa No.1 stood a middle-aged couple in their fifties. The woman's eyes were red when she saw Shelton through the car window.

"Claire, Shawn, I've missed you guys, too."

Shelton said with a smile.

After exchanging pleasantries, Shelton pulled into the villa's parking lot and entered the villa.

"Mr. Reed, I hear you've become a live-in son-in-law and are having a hard time, aren't you?" Claire asked with concern.

Shelton smiled. "My arms and legs were broken and I was kicked out of the house. The man who saved me was my current father-in-law."

"Alas!"

Claire sighed. "Shawn and I tried to save you, but your second brother had someone watching us and wouldn't let us go out for three days. We went to look for you later, but you were gone. We've been feeling sorry for you for the past three years. We were so glad when we found out you were alive two days ago."

"Thanks, Shawn, Claire."

Shelton said in shame.

After they talked for a few minutes, Shawn sent Claire to prepare the potion for Shelton and he and Shelton chatted over coffee.

Nearly noon, Shelton took the potion and drove away in a hurry.

He had to hurry home to make lunch or he would be scolded again.

However, just as the car left Dragon Villa Area, Jessie called him.

Shelton knew Jessie would scold him for coming home late, but he picked up the phone anyway.

As he expected, he heard Jessie's insults as soon as he picked up the phone.

"I told you to get out of my house and leave Vera. Why don't you come back and make lunch? Do you want to starve me to death?"

"And why did you only get paid 50 dollars today? Did you know you were getting out of my house in three days so you got your salary early and had the accountant pay you only 50 dollars? Do you want to die?"

Two years ago, Tommy had a car accident. It didn't happen during work, so Gary and Aidan didn't let the accountant cover Tommy's medical bills. They spent almost all their money on his treatment and every month they spent a lot of money on medication. Jessie didn't work and played cards every day. Kate also spent a lot. Vera's salary and dividends were hardly enough to support the family.

Therefore, Shelton offered to deliver to earn money for Vera, but within a few months, Jessie found out about it and took his money. She even asked him to give her his salary and gave him only 100 dollars a month for cigarettes and daily expenses.

Therefore, she knew as soon as Shelton got paid.

"I didn't, Mom." Shelton was surprised. "I took the day off. I didn't go to work or get my salary early. I'm supposed to be paid over 600 dollars this month. Are you sure you only received 50 dollars?"

"Do you need me to show you a picture?" Jessie was furious. "Over 600 dollars? I only received 50 dollars. If you don't give me over 600 dollars, I'll break your legs!"

"Then send me the picture and I'll go to the company and ask the accountant. You have to prepare your own lunch. I promise to get the money back," Shelton said.

"If I don't see over 600 dollars by dinner, you don't have to come back. I'll have Vera divorce you tomorrow!"

Jessie hung up the phone in anger.

Soon Shelton received a message from Jessie. He clicked on it and found that it was really only 50 dollars.

"What's wrong? Why did they only give me 50 dollars? I've been scolded again for no reason."

Shelton couldn't help but complain.

Then he drove to the courier company.

"Shelton, you've been fired by Mr. Owen. Why did you come back? You couldn't find a job so you came back to beg Mr. Owen?"

At the courier company, a man asked Shelton with a sneer.

"Boris, what did you say? I was fired?"

Shelton was shocked.

"Yes. Didn't Mr. Owen inform you?" Another man approached and asked with a frown.

"No." Shelton was confused. "Carl, why did I get fired?"

Carl was embarrassed.

Just then, an angry voice said, "You damn loser. I asked you to deliver a folder yesterday, but you saw your wife in a hotel room with another man, tore up the folder, and tried to hit him. The client made a complaint about you so I fired you."

"By the way, why do I need a reason to fire a loser?"

"Haha!"

Many people in the room couldn't stop laughing.

"Bullshit!"

Shelton angrily pointed at Mr. Owen and roared, "You can insult me, but you can't insult my wife. I won't let you go!"

Shelton angrily took out his phone.

"Are you going to call the police?" Mr. Owen sneered, not afraid at all.

"No, I'm going to make you lose your job!"

Then Shelton dialed a number.
