chapter 33

the same dream or, nightmare like always, though this one seems more, different

instead of the same base I woke up to a good bit, it was, broken, worn down as if the place was abandoned, instead of sleeping people around me, there was empty broken beds, the walls seem to be barely holding on, as for anybody being their the only remnants seem to be some broken skeletal remains making me shiver a little as I get up and look around on the inside As the way it was down is strange

it seemed that the base was, bigger than before more, like a small city as I exit the base seeing the high walls in shambles barely standing tall thanks to the houses that are mostly open yet shattered as I walk around seeing the towers all the way up seeminly higher yet again though one of them has collapsed to on top of the base as I start climbing up the walls of houses

while safe due to no acid anywhere the way up via traveling from platform to platform even as some break under my weight

the homes the platforms bring two isn't much better inside than the outside either, as if everything was left to rot like everything else here in this place as I continue onto the top of the walls as I soon see what seems to be fixtures for lighting though completely burnt out as I look over the edge of the walls staying away from the edge so that of the ways to die in this new dream a death via call of oblivion is not one I'll like, though it's hard to pay attention to that from the view I'm seeing

3 more walls past this one and more in pieces as homes dont cover these ones as they are more for whatevertheir purposes are, either way as the plains surrounding me are the same past the walls, as It looks like more corpses surround this place as the moving city seems to just be gone, and the the nest as I start to head toward the exit of the base to see more of this new version of the dream I notice it being less a nest, and more a strange base, like it was taken over and modified to suit whoever has it, as I see metal plating instead of webbing for the shell, yet still spiders crawling all over it as if whoever is in control their now, it ain't the spiders queen, at least, I'm sure if it

with a new goal in mind, I start heading over to the nest. The dream says the same for the real world, but not this dream, right?

as a gunshot sounds, as my head melts away as I scream

but soon I wake up again, getting off my bed feeling too warm for my liking at the moment as I get out of it, as I lean on the wall to get my bearings for a moment

"That was a new one,"

as I pick myself up and stretch, I look over the clothing in the closet, maybe it's about time I actually put that on would help forget that painful ending, as I walk on over and just put on a new shirt, pants and new shoes that don't have holes as I look in the mirror for a moment feeling just how, clean these clothes are, it feels too, soft maybe it's becuase I've worn the old clothes a bit too long

as I fold my clothes up and place them in a drawer that I don't mind getting a bit dirty and leave the armor on the armor stand for now as I exit the room to the outside and begin heading off towards Cook's area hoping he is their and not Abigail, she seems nice, but not right, then i can go to help out with the roof then when the time is over I'll ask over Jerry and the research duo to help out in planning this spider hunt, since while I got most of the kinks out myself, it would definitely be great having people that love to analyze to look through it for any whiles I should be wary of, as I soon reach the line only to see that at the end is again, Abigail

"At least she is nice,"

as I begin to wait I see the finished homes and see people exiting them and Brownie, with some new clothes that she wears looking a bit uncomfortable, she is now wearing a shirt with some overalls and her hair a lot more clean than before along with herself as she sees me and waves as she joins the line and I meet again with the new clerk for now

"Hello abigail"

" Hello, here is your food. Would you like to take a mission?"

" No, I'm good for today. Thanks for asking, though,"

their smile as unnerving as last time she puts the food crate on forward towards me as they they wave bye as I get my crate and start going up the walls as usual and start to wait over at the watchtowers, since it's where I last saw Jerry at so he will probably be there again since it is like them to go their if not to be the first to see the spiders in action even if at all, and otherwise if they are gonna go about at a hunt They would at least tell me

as I take a seat on the passage to wait for Jerry to come over

it took a little while over taking bullets that don't harm my armor, and shooting the once in a while rocket from the launcher till scrap finally relents and lets me do my work.

and as the alarm is sounding like was for a good bit, before the person can relocate the rocket I shoot it blowing it up killing the person and those nearby as my armor turns from armor to guantlets leaving the rest of my body fairly defenseless

" I plan to have a challenge this time,"

as i have the guantlets form into shields as I rush towards the base as they immediately release the spiders to at me as I use the claws at the end of one of them to stab into a shooters chest while they reload as I take their gun shooting over at the spiders, while not as good as their own arrows will fair better then these firearms they still do plenty against just acid spiders the metal ones are another story however as their blood spills on the gated they where released from opening a whole inside as I deal with the people at the front and if any target my back I take them out before they even have the chance as I can feel the bullets grazing me as I barely miss a bad injury while guarding and shooting as they start throwing explosives over from the crates I saw before as I most I take out before hand and those that do make it through I rush back in order to avoid the shrapnel as while it's harder for them to aim it also means it's difficult to predict l resulting in getting hit twice as I continue to deal with the shooters as I start aiming at the explosives the throwers are throwing

and as the battle continues the reason for the alarms have cone as I soon see a metal spider in order to deal with me, in which, I new the fun was over, as while I took care of the majority of the people with the guantlets, I need the whole armor for this one as It comes over to me its screeching loud enough to almost make my ears bleed as I have the armor on before it could use its leg to crush me as I barely get out of the way, as I use the armors weaponry to blast through a wall then shoot the explosives to deal with the base while actively being shot at and the spider crawling low to get its sights on me as it stomps trying to get to me as I couldn't help but smile a little

" looks like who sent you thought the base is being felled by something like tanks, huh?"

as I put a signal on to wolf who should already be coming over as I will make sure to take care of any stragglers, my armor may take a few Hits from it directly but even that is risky

as I simply work on delaying it and the stragglers

by the time Jerry made it over I hear a shrill screech in the distance and while I could hear it it is fairly faint it was clear for me to notice it's there as while I was looking over to check it out my shoulder was tapped by Jerry who seems to be wondering what I was looking at causing me see him right there

" Hello Jake, it seems you were seeing something."

" Ah, I just heard something in the distance, a bit familiar two though I don't know why, did you not hear it?"

" Maybe, though I thought it was just my ear ringing, maybe we should mention that to the others."

" Mayne, oh! and while you're on that I've, got an idea that I want you and the research duo to look over. If it works, hunting would be much easier!"

I managed to catch before he could get away as he takes a thinking look as he looks at me blankly for a small moment then nods as they go back to going over to tell the others as I finish my crate that I took with me as I get up and get to the columns that lead to the roof as I take up my journey up to the area to soon meet up with Cody as I give him a wave and start going to work as Brownie is probably on another job at the moment as I begin on getting the supplies in order to get back to carrying the items up and down the long stair case though bow that I'm looking at it it seems they are working on making a small elevator up and down the roof would definitely make things easier later when it works

" This is, really, tiring, and, so high,"

luckily it seems that someone talkative is behind me as I turn my neck to look them over as I see a slightly chubby fellow probably was one who will eat the leftovers of some picky eater or something, as I speak up to him to start a conversation.
