Adelard knew that it was a matter of time before the rabies would spread wide on Cataleya's body until it would reach her brain. Before that happened, he quickly climbed down the tree in search for the tears of medusa's flowers.

It was a poisonous flower that could kill a man instantly if taken by mouth. But among his people it was a potent cure for rabies if given in the right amount. 

Adelard knew of such flower and could trace those without much effort. Finding it just beside the riverside at the of the boulder, he plucked out an Aralia's bowl shaped leaves before he climbed up the boulder towards Medusa.
