Episode 7: The Princess and The Nerd (Part 3)

Dinner time. A moment in the day when families sat down around a table and talked about the day. For some, this was a time for connection. For some, conflict.

But for this little family of mine, it was a time of reflection, of making sure we still had all our limbs.

I made Trixy and Arthur sit near the fire while I imprisoned our newly acquired cat in an ice cage. It resisted of course, hissing and battering against the cold bars. But after a while, it lost its energy and just collapsed. Meanwhile, our spider friend eyed the beast with hungry curiosity, but one warning slap from me was enough to make it snap out of it.

Trixy and Arthur were silent as they stared motionless at the boiling pot of random animal stew that I started after we arrived.

The first fight was always the most memorable.

And the most traumatic.

I went through my first fight when I was 21. Fresh out of the academy, I had to tackle a guy who was swinging a knife around the market.
