The Undead

As soon as she composed herself again, both went on their way, Elric leading the way while Ajia follows at the back. It was already dawning and they were still walking, for hours now. Both were sleepy, and both were yawning from time to time, while dragging their feet to walk. Ajia then started to ask Elric about how he ends up in the forest.

"Hey, how are you?" awkwardly started by Ajia. "I mean, how, how come you are here? Did the zombies ran after you too? How's you parents? How about your family?"

"That's too many questions." Elric answered and suddenly stopped to look in his right shoulder to see if Ajia was still following him.

"Oh sorry."

"In our village, opposite to yours, we have quite a few residents. My parents were in the the shop when the zombies attacked them. They were killed by their workers who turned into zombie just like that rabbit. The little village where we live was wiped out in just one night. I was too late to save them as I was at home." Elric, trying to recall the fateful night.

Elric was at the study room when he noticed people were running amok in the street. He peeped into the window to know what could be the ruckus all about when he noticed zombies are running after his neighbors. He was taken aback as he was unsure of what he saw. It is not April Fool's Day is it? It took him minutes to recover and started to think straight.

"I need to have a weapon." He went to see in the garage something that he can use and found an old baseball bat. "This." He went back to his room to pack some clothes. I must go to the shop. That's the only thing in his mind right now - his parents. I hope they are fine.

He turned the lights off as he left the house and locked it. Thinking that it would not attract any unwanted guests. He then smelled a foul smell of flesh just outside their fence. He tried to look where it is coming from, he noticed a child eating the remains of the body! A zombie kid! He then swung his bat so hard that it hit the zombie's head and exploded!

He was so shocked to see what is happening in his neighborhood. Confusing inside him creeps in like a paralyzing poison, then he was vomiting on side street when someone touched his back as he bent forward, and when he looked up, he found his old neighbor, covered in blood, was telling him something.

"They are too many ric.. save yourself!" right after he finished his sentence, a weird cracking sound as he twitched and turned and fell down.

Elric's eyes widened as his neighbor slowly got back up and walked towards his direction. "Stop! No! Don't come near me." He slowly moved backwards while looking at his neighbor turned into a zombie. It only took minutes since he transformed into flesh eating animal.

"You are no longer human." said Elric and he swings his bat with all his might to hit the head and the head exploded with the great impact.

He looks at his surrounding that was then peaceful and now in this unbelievable state. He stopped his fear. He decided that he will move out. He then remembers his parents. He started to run in the direction of the market to meet his parents.

His heart was beating fast due to panting and worry about this parent's state condition. They are old already. He then run faster thinking that he could still manage to save his parents. He could now see the shop from a distance, and saw from afar how the worker was attacking his mother. The zombie was holding a knife and it was slowly reaching out to stab his mother. All this scene Elric can see from where he is and he shouted, "Mom! I am here!" he was running faster but his mother was reached by the knife that the zombie was holding. He shouted if he could only have a weapon! In his mind, he was drawing an arrow and a bow, while he was running towards his mother when he realized the bow and arrow was materializing from his thought and he fired his arrow to hit the zombie's head, just in time the knife pierced through his mother's heart.

"No!!!"

Elric arrived seconds late. His father was also killed while holding a broom few meters away from his wife. "If I had come a bit early, I could have saved you mom and dad!" cried Elric.

Tears flowed down from his eyes while Ajia was looking horrified next to him. She couldn't see Elric was crying due to his loss. The night was still dark in the forest.

It took a several minutes when the two decided to take a rest in the nearby tree. "What is happening?" asked Ajia. "Why are we under attack by these zombies?"

"I don't know. We are yet to find out." Elric answered.

From the area far away from the villages, the zombies are gathering it's might. The air is hot and humid like you are sitting next to a blazing fire, and the scent is reeking of flesh and human meat and blood. The zombies are busy moving around. Smoke and fumes are everywhere like a busy city filled with bodies moving everywhere.

It has begun. The dark age of the civilization has started to unfold right before the very eyes of the human race. They have come from the depths of the earth awakened by the The Rule. In the darkness, the crippling power has spread from one village to another. The malice that corrupts the soul of a human. It comes from the dark powers protected in the depths of the citadel of the emerging kingdom of the undead!

"Our time is set." said the hooded tall figure. He was white as a ghost looking at his minions down below where he is and his subjects.

"We have started the corruption of the villagers far from the Metropolitan. We dropped the lockets containing the vapor of death, once inhaled by any human being, it will seep into his soul and will start to corrupt his mind and body turning him into our... very own, zombie." said one of the figures kneeling before their dark lord.

The howl of the undead wolf, invigorate the undead. He pats the wolf, and said, "Our time has come, indeed."
