Before he spoke, Todd drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I realize that demons are your”—he shrugged slightly—“specialty. However, we are not children, and like you, we have also trained and studied since we werechildren. Nick and I may have only started working together as a team a few years ago, but that doesn’t mean we know less or aren’t as skilled.”
It didn’t get by Nick that Todd failed to mention Nick had never seen a spirit or known the things they hunted were real until he and Todd began working together.
Heidi started to protest. “I never thought—”
Todd held up one hand. “That being said, I get that you’ve been hunting these scumbags for a long time, far longer than Nick and me. I know Nick will agree it’s not right for you to be shut out any more than it is for you to do that to us. But Snow will be expecting us, not you. So, let’s use that.” He turned far enough to look at Nick, asking a silent question.
