on a beautiful day, the citizens of a beautiful empire live out their lives, the empire, called the empire of the saint, was the largest most powerful empire in the world, with multiple centuries of history as the dominant power in the continent behind it, it was founded by the great saint, a nigh mythical figure, summoned from another world by a currupt and evil kingdom, vying for power in their region. but freed from their clutches by its sudden destruction at the hands of an equally mythical if not more so entity, known by many titles, the most popular being "the architect." and "the anarchist."
after the destruction of the kingdom, the saint went on to become one of the most powerful humans in history, and first empress of the empire of the saint, but she was long dead by now, the kingdom inherited by her decedents after her untimely death, none of who managed to even approach her greatness, the imperial family and nobles of the empire eventually began to fall into greed, decadence, and incompetence, after all, even if the founders of said families were most noble, generations of being treated as superior to the common people, and near infinite access to any luxury they should desire despite never working a day in their lives, will eventually foster a sense of superiority within said families.
As a result the empire has slowly began to lose its strength, long obedient vassals no longer hiding their greed, and long subjugated counties began to show their long hidden hostility towards their oppressors, as such when the voice of the world announced that the true dragon veldenava and his wife had given birth to a child, they knew that this was a chance to regain their dominance.
see when an incredibly powerful monster conceives a child, it takes an incredible amount of their power to create such a powerful entity, something they would eventually recover from, but would leave them severely weakened for decades to come, and so the king launched a grand crusade, the goal of which was to kill the parents and capture the child to be brainwashed into a soldier for the empire, and considering the declining prestige of the imperial family and the gradual weakening of their bloodline without any powerful members appearing to revive it, if they could marry the girl into the family they would be able to gain another powerful bloodline and secure their future for centuries more to come.
It took years but the empire eventually succeeded in killing the dragon and his wife, unfortunately the child had escaped in the process, the father seemed to have granted the child a young dragon to keep them safe, but the empires armies eventually managed to catch up to the duo.
(empire's general pov)
it has been a long and arduous chase, but the child could not run forever, and today my scouts had finally reported good news, they had found the child and her protector hidden in a small valley just north of our position. I had quickly ordered all of my soldiers to prepare to sally out, my army had shrunk considerably from the start of the campaign, both to save supplies and travel faster, now what remained was just our elite's and the logistical equipment and workers needed to keep them running, but it should be more than enough to kill such a young dragon and capture a child. I had thought.
Now I overlook the valley, watching as my army watching as my entire army falls in mere moments, it had started off fine, our archers, spearmen, and cavalry making quick work of the young dragon, little did we know that upon witnessing the death of her companion, the child, the young dragonoid, who we thought would be weak due to her age, began a berserk rampage and began systematically dismantling my army regiment by regiment.
And I can't help but feel fear in my heart, and my mind returns to the folktale I had heard as a child, recounting how the kingdom that came before our grand empire had been destroyed by but one single person, the supposed entity that had been summoned alongside the first empress, but I, like many of my fellow nobles, had never believed such a preposterous story, "after all, there is no species greater than humans" we had said, "no creature stronger than the first empress" we had thought, content in our perceived superiority.
But now I as I fall to my knees, watching one singular child destroy an entire army, causing such damage that the area that was once a valley now looked like the demonic wastes you see in a children's book, and as I watch as a large beam of light cuts through the mountain range, I cant help but curse the king for his greed, and the nobles for their ignorance, as I lose consciousness for the first, and last time of my life.
(no pov)
on peak of a serene looking mountain, a beautiful scene is taking place, a serene image of a young adult, lacking the characteristics of either gender, and with a beautiful pair of fluffy ears, and an equally fluffy tail reminiscent of a fox, both made of pristine white fur, as if the dirt itself thought it sacrilege to dirty, which they seem to be using as a full body pillow.
the image seemingly the creation of a god of art, as they are surrounded by other sleeping animals, all in living in harmony despite the presence of both predators and prey, as if this mountain was a holy land bereft of conflict.
When the image is suddenly interrupted by the very ground they laid upon shaking with such force it was as if they were stood upon an erupting volcano, the animals quickly awoke and scattered, as the humanoid slowly rose from their slumber, blinking sleep out of a pair of ethereal eyes, glowing in a beautiful shade of gold, as they look out across the horizon.
Watching as a mountain range a hundreds of kilometers away collapses under the onslaught of a gigantic beam of energy. (in my mind the world of Tensura is much larger than earth so you can see much further before the land dips below the horizon, plus the mc is standing on the peak of a large mountain. so they can see even further.)
And a hypnotic voice fills the air, filled with anger an annoyance, any animals yet to flee far enough starting to shake in anger, as if the voice had infected them with the emotion. "who the fuck dares interrupt my sleep?"
(sorry I know I said this would be the last chapter before cannon, but plans change, so next chapter will be Milim's massacre of the kingdom, also yes the kingdom that Milim destroyed in canon was replaced with the one created by the girl summoned alongside the Mc, I thought it would be interesting.)
