Chapter 4

Valentina's POV

This week has been so dramatic, terrible, stupid, retarded... Yeah, you get my point, right? It has just been the worst. I'm getting married to an idiot who thinks the world revolves around him.

Here I am now at his mansion; it's absolutely beautiful. His whole place is spotless, the white wooden floors look lovely, there's a huge fireplace, and there are so many rooms and paintings in the hallways. It's freaking amazing.

I'm, at the moment, sitting at the table discussing wedding plans with Luca. Today he isn't being as much of a dick head. I think he can sense I am not in the mood for bull shit.

"I'll give you the money for your wedding dress. If you want, I can also get a designer in and you can personalize it." Luca suggests.

"No, I will pay." I said, "I'll just find a pretty wedding dress and walk down the aisle with you... It's not a big deal."

"I thought girls liked big weddings and stu-."

"Well groomed, they would if they were marrying the person they love and if they weren't forced into a marriage." I groan, "Fine... Since you're willing to pay, I shall buy the most gorgeous dress ever."

"You give me a headache." He mutters.

"Well it's great to know that we both annoy each other," I said sarcastically, and I smiled at him.

"Whatever." He mutters. "Come on." He says as he gets up, "I am taking you to dinner."

"I'm not hungry." I lied. I am really hungry, but I would rather go home than go to dinner with my fiance.

"You haven't eaten all day." He says, "You've got to eat something. Come on, if you want, you can have pizza."

"Why are you being nice?" I asked as I put my right eyebrow up.

"This isn't me being nice." He says, "I just don't want my gorgeous fiancee to starve."

"Fine." I say, "I'll go to dinner with you." I walk out of his house with him and his Chauffeur opens the door for us, "Thanks." I say as I go into the car.

Luca sits down next to me... Like really close to me. He is invading my personal space.

"You don't need to thank him." Luca mumbles, "He is doing his job and he gets paid for it so-."

"Look, Luca." I said to him, "Just because you have no manners doesn't mean that I'm not going to have any."

"No need to get all defensive." He says, "And... Don't ever raise your voice at me."

"Or what..?"

"You don't want to know." He whispers in my ear. He smells really good, it's a strong cologne that he is wearing and it is amazing.

"Leave you speechless, do I?" He says and then he smirks at me.

"Please just don't talk." I said nonchalantly, "It is so much better when you don't talk."

"Your wish is my command, darling," he said.

The rest of the car ride is silent. I am surprised. He made no sound at all. Wow, he can't be a little bit considerate. I smiled to myself.

"Thinking of me?" He asks and I groan. I just jinxed it!

"Not," I said. The car stops and the Chauffeur opens the door. I get out of the car and Luca does as well.

Straightaway, there were hundreds of lights flashing everywhere. Oh god, it is the stupid Paparazzi. Luca walks in front of me and holds onto my hand, he quickly tries to get me away from all the people. He gets me into the restaurant and before he gets in he puts his middle finger up at the cameras. "I will sue all of you." He shouts and I laugh at his immaturity.

We get a private room and I sit down opposite him. "You're childish," I say as he picks up the menu.

"Childish people won't be billionaires like me." He brags, "And anyway, what you should be doing is thanking me."

I looked at him with a confused expression, "Why should I be thanking you?" I asked.

"Oh my god." He mumbles, "Because I helped you escape them fucking vultures."

"Oh right." I say, "Thank you... You deserve an award for being nice for the first time in your whole life."

"Just shut up and order." He groans, "You're getting on my last nerve."

"I've got to talk if I want to order," I mumbled as Luca sighed. That's fantastic. I intended to annoy him.

"Mr. Marino and..?" The waitress says.

"It's Valentina," I said to the waitress. I looked at her badge and her name looked like Casey.

"So Valentina." She says, "And Mr. Marino, what would you like to order?"

"I'll just have the starter and the main together, a chicken satay and Margherita pizza please," I say and Casey writes it down in her notebook. "Oh, write, I'll just have a Coke."

"Mr. Marino?" Casey says, waiting for Luca to order.

"Yes." He says, "I'll have Tangri kebabs and I will have spaghetti and a glass of red wine."

" OK." She says and then she walks away.

"Tell me more about yourself," I said to Luca. If I am marrying this guy I would like to know a bit more about him. I know that you've got the tabloids, but I don't want to believe everything that the tabloids say.

"What do you want to know?"

"Basic stuff... Your life and likes and dislikes," I said as I leaned back on my chair.

"Well." He started, "I've got my dad, Daniel Marino. He gave me the company. My mum... She died giving birth to me. There's nothing much to know about me. What about you?"

"I'm sorry about your mum," I said, as Luca sighed.

"It's alright." He shakes it off, "I didn't know her but... Just tell me about yourself."

"Well, I've got both of my parents. I went to school and college. I couldn't afford uni, so I just got a job in a cafe, been working there for a while, and yeah, there's nothing really interesting about me."

"You're interesting." Luca says, "I think there's more about you than you think."

"Believe me," I said,

"I am not that interested. I get up, go to work and I just read all day."

"What do you read?" He asks. I don't know if he is interested in knowing or if he is just trying to pass time, but he isn't that bad, he seems... 'Kind of alright'.

"I love romance books," I said happily. I've always been a romantic.

"Romance is all a bull shit fairytale," he mutters. I looked at him and I sensed sadness in his voice.

"Why do you think that?"

"It's fake and it's all romanticized so much." He says, "It's not reality."

"Seems like you've had a hard time." I said to him, "Yes, the reality is difficult and we all go through bad stuff but we've always got someone to love, right?"

"I don't love anyone." Luca huffs, "Love is so overrated. Everyone just cares about themselves."

"You don't have to though," I said as the waitress came into the room and put our food down on the table.

The waitress leaves and I take a sip of my drink. The food looks delicious,

I feel so excited about eating right now.

"Life is difficult." Luca mutters, "Things never get better, you've just got to deal with it."

"You're allowed to be happy though," I said to him. "We all deserve that."

"Maybe," Luca said.

"What's your favorite color?" I asked him and then he asked me a weird expression.

"Favourite color?" He chuckles, "I don't have a favorite color. I am a CEO, my favorite color is one less thing to think about, so it's great that I don't have one."

"Everyone must have a favorite color." I leaned in closer, "Mine is pink."

"I would have guessed that." Luca grinned, "Every girl is obsessed with pink."

"And every boy loves blue... Right?" I said in the same tone as him. "A guy can like pink as well."

"Ew." He chuckles, "That's disgusting. No way."

I laughed at him, "You are childish."

"You are too." He says, "Who asks an adult what their favorite color is?"

"That wasn't a childish question." I smiled at him. He smirks at me and I then awkwardly finish off eating my food. When he smirks he just looks hot and I am seriously cringing at my thoughts.

The rest of the day with Luca went great. He takes me shopping, we go to the park and talk. I have enjoyed my time with him.

I guess he has some sort of good side to him.

He wants us to meet up again so we can talk about the marriage agreement; he said that some of the stuff that he is going to say might annoy me, so he is going to tell me another day.
