The Silver Rank mercenary turned his head with great difficulty. Rather than just pain, he was more in shock and anger because his old mate have betrayed him shoving a sword straight through his back.
Although the Silver rank mercenary was vigilant he couldn't have thought that he would be backstabbed so ruthlessly by his own.
*Cough*
Blood pored from his mouth unceasingly, his eyes were red in fury. The Silver Rank mercenary raised his head to curse his killer for a lifetime of damnation.
But just then he discovered that the figure stabbing him wasn't his friend Grey, instead its kid they were looking for!
Finding this out his face paled instantly in desperation and puzzlement. After stammering unintelligibly for quite a while, he finally exclaimed, "Why! Why is it you?! W-w-w-where's Grey?!"
Allen pushed the sword a bit more inside the mercenary's body, earning an agonizing yelp from the silver rank.
Allen said coldly, "He's corpse is probably lying somewhere feasted by a random beast. It's your turn now."
The Silver rank mercenary's laboured breathing stopped as he collapsed on the ground afterwards.
"That's two of the silver rank are dead, just a few pest along the way and this game is over." Allen swing the blade downwards with vibrating force and the blood leeched out onto the grass.
Allen had used transformation jutsu to take the shape of one of the Mercenaries and he ambushed this second Silver rank.
He has already finished almost everyone using all kinds of tricks possible in this remorseless dark night. His relentless killing spree was unstoppable because no one could anticipated things like an assailant walking on tree, or looking like their friend etc.
These are only feats accomplished by ancient Magus in the magical era, everyone have heard about their magical arcane spells but no one ever dreamed they would have to face it.
"Weris! Where are you man!?" A shout sounded.
Allen smiled. More prey were coming close to their demise, Allen step backwards and merged with the night like a shadow.
...
"Where is everyone? Why haven't they captured the murder of Miles!" The researcher screamed with tears poured from the corner of his eyes.
Being a person who roams to seach, and travel to many places he is no stranger to danger and death but those who are injured or killed are only mercenaries.
No one care for their lives, they are paid to protect so, he was pretty detached but now that his long time friend and colleague is laying dead without even a whole corpse, he felt an indescribable fear for his own life.
The mercenary team leader glanced at the researcher with an annoyed look. He was also worried why his men haven't return, the silent and chilling night was giving him an ominous feeling.
"Everything is going to be fine right? This is too fucked up! why did you have to provoke that guy, if it weren't for your greed, this wouldn't have happened! I would make sure you are judged properly once we are back." The researcher was very scared and tensed. So much so that even a person of his intellectual succumbed to the irrationality of annoying and blaming his sole protecter.
He couldn't discern that if the mercenaries decided to leave him not even his whole corpse would be left.
'Too annoying! It would be problematic to let him be, Should I just get rid of him? Yeah, that would be for the best. I can fabricate a story that we were ambushed by a group of savage wolves and separated. Somehow a few lived lived but the team with the two researcher met a vicious beast and died.' The leader's eyes shone with cruelty and he made a vicious decision.
Even if he won't be spared from punishment but keeping his head this way won't be an issue. Accidents can happen anytime in their line of work.
The leader turned to look at the researcher, his eyes were devoid of any emotions. He immediately made his way towards him like a phantom and crept near the researcher.
He pulled a dagger from his waist and was about to make his move but suddenly his emotionless eyes widen.
Without even looking or changing his momentum he threw the dagger in the direction of the dark forest.
*Sheesh*
"*Ah* What? what are you doing idiot, why are you throwing knives in the forest!" The researcher snapped back looking at the mercenary leader who suddenly appeared behind him. He shouted at the top of his lung, pointing his finger at the leader.
The mercenary leader ignored him as he looked dead straight where he threw the dagger.
"You are good!" Suddenly a hoarse voice sounded out of nowhere and a shadowy figure emerged from the night.
It was none other than Allen. Allen had a shallow cut on his right cheek from where a faint line of blood gushed.
Allen stretched his right hand and faintly touched the warm flowing blood with his fingers. His right hand was wrapped around by a bandage, which wasn't there before. The mercenary leader guessed Allen suffered this injury fighting his men.
'He is more perceptive then the others, His level is probably 3-star and his mediation technique is maybe... ' Allen wiped the blood from the side of his cheek and smiled demonically.
'It'll be fun playing with you.' Allen squinted his eyes and readied his sword.
"Where are the others?" The Leader reciprocated and also unsheathe his sword. He asked with a cold look.
"Dead!"
"I see...."
"Boy you should have run then but you choose to accomplish a full sweep and that would be your undoing." Although the Leader talked nonchalantly discussing the death of his group but Allen could clearly notice seething fury in his eyes.
"Before we fight, I'll like to ask you something."
"Hmph! Sure go ahead, I'll fulfill your death wish."
"So kind of you but sadly, death is bored of me. I think she would be more interested in you."
"Death is never bored of anyone. You can out run the devil if you fled, but you'll never outrun the hands of death."
"So very perceptive of you... The more I look at you the more I think that your disposition, demeanour, perception is very similar to an Assassin. Is your Battleforce nature—dark?" Allen asked because he can sense some similarities from him.
With the experience of Hiroki, Allen was quick to assess him.
"Is that your last wish? Knowing my Battleforce nature. Very well then, you are right and now prepare to die." The Leader shouted but both him and Allen were just stalling actually.
Would two assassin be so bored to waste time like this? No, they both were actually analysing the situation. The mercenary leader was looking for any weakness to exploit against an unknown adversary.
Allen was perceiving the mercenary leader's Battleforce circulation, he was pretty sure that he can win but to simultaneously fight and examine the enemy's isle movement would be hard.
"You… Don't come any closer…" While these two were playing mind games the researcher was shitting his pants. He shouted pointing his finger towards Allen as he scrambled backwards in fear.
Knowing that the whole mercenary group is now dead, his mind was in a chaotic state.
Allen slowly morphed into some kind of a brutal demon king for him.
Allen gave him a side glance to the researcher.
Just then, the mercenary leader immediately jumped towards a flower patch appearing before Allen. He slashed his sword towards Allen wildly circulating his Battleforce before stomping down to the ground and take a leap, trying to close off his retreat path.
A sharp sound reverberated through the forest. A sword with silverish tint cut through the air like a javelin and tried to penetrated through Allen's defences.
Allen defended swiftly as he knocked the fast charging sword away. Facing the ferocious flurry of attacks from his opponent, Allen stood straight like a pine tree in a storm, not once lowering its head to the ferocious winds.
His stance was also stable as an unmoving boulder near the coast that doesn't budge at all no matter how forceful the wave.
Allen and the mercenary leader attacked each other in a frenzy. Their sword met each other countless times and the sparks lit the dark night.
Allen could intercept the sword's trajectory and perceive his enemy attacks thanks to soul force. Meanwhile his enemy had the support of Dark nature Battleforce.
Grasses were being blowed away, patches of lands being torn apart, tress were sliced with deep slashes as their attacks devastated all that came in their path as they went in and over, through and around the forest.
Allen tried everything to gain the territorial advantage which were being squander by his opponent.
The went at it for what seemed like hours. Their fast attacks were increasing in momentum as fight continued. Allen hasn't been able to gain any advantage because at this time he was only using his swordsmanship, he has never faced an enemy so adept in fighting ruthlessly like his current one.
Allen was learning with each passing minutes and it looked to him that his swordsman ability and Battleforce might have a breakthrough!
Eventually though, Allen was getting tired as they continued, his opponent was also panting rather heavily and the continuous attacks from Allen finally pushed him into a corner.
The opponent in the middle of the bout started to wielded a two-handed sword which was suitable for attacking but quite lacking when it came to defense as he invested everything to get rid of Allen.
Allen's rapid, suppressive attacks for the last ten minutes had frightened him quite visibly. Despite his experience sparring against his colleagues in his mercenary guild or otherwise, no one has ever held up against him for that long a time.
"Gaarrgh!" cried the Silver ranked leader and he leaped again to attack.
"Hmph!" Allen merely humphed coldly without taking a step back and pointed his sword toward the opening in his opponent's move.
The Silver ranked leader suddenly changed his maneuver from a stab to a sweep. Allen's sword merely slanted and parried the move.
Clang, clang clang! The two swords let out clear, crisp sounds of ringing metal as they crossed. After ten-odd exchanges, the Silver Swordsman retreated to catch his breath while Allen's expression looked a bit pained and his body swayed about unstably.
"Hhaaa!"
The Silver ranked leader pounced again using his two-handed sword to execute a wide horizontal slash.
Allen's defenses still held up without a flaw. However, each parry from his bandaged right hand grew weaker and weaker.
The Silver ranked Leader was elated and he put more energy into his strikes.
Clang! Finally Allen couldn't hold on and his sword was knocked away leaving his heaving chest exposed.
The two-handed sword quickly slashed downwards with Allen already unable to recover his stance to parry.
"Die!" screamed the Silver ranked Leader and he let out a breath of relief.
Just then, Allen dodge by simply stepping back, the two-handed sword barely scraped his clothes, landing on the ground.
Allen smirked followed by a snap moment of his right hand that held the sword previously.
His empty right hand drew a beautiful arc in the air and astoundingly enough a bone dagger emerged out of nowhere.
With the appearance of the dagger the bandage around the hand disappeared. Allen didn't let his enemy gather himself and shoved it thorough his neck.
The silver rank warrior let out a gagging cry and his body crashed towards the muddy patch, before struggling and thrashing to get up and finally exhaling his final breath.
'Transformation Technique is really convenient!' Allen spinned the dagger in fingers and threw it behind himself without even looking.
The dagger teared through the air, landing right between the eyes of the last remaining member of this party, the second researcher.
From the foolish way he was talking to the leader, Allen really didn't want to hear him open his mouth once again and annoy him.
"Neither of the three Battleforce techniques is similar to mine. —*tsk*— No matter they are quite loaded so, it wasn't all for nothing." Allen shook his head as he started to search for his spoils.
Allen took whatever he can and retreated immediately. The beasts are becoming more active with all the dead bodies around and the bloody smell.
Currently Allen was too exhausted to fight so, he decided to rest.
"Next up I should go to Mount AusrDu, it would be the ideal location for my ninjutsu practice." Allen rested on a high tree. He sat in a cultivating posture to recover.
Allen already had an eye on that place since before but he postponed going there because he couldn't actually use chakra for ninjutsu but now, that place would be very helpful for his upcoming practice and proficiency.
