…
A week had passed since the intruder had infiltrated the front gate of the Hachiman clan, when the guards found three dead bodies near the gate. Two belonged to the rank 5 guards who were killed and one belonged to the rank 4.
After a day of investigation it was decided that the infiltrator died at the hands of the two guards at the beginning, the truth that Jason was the one that killed him was known only to the clan guardian.
Over time the issue died down and was rarely spoken of because not only was it failed, it was also pathetic.
The news was known only in the main clan building, the Hachiman clan always had a history of looking barely unguarded but those who tried to infiltrate it were well known... but they weren't known to be survivors.
…
Jason walked slowly before stopping as his gaze met the ground he was stepping on, to any normal person it would seem like he was observing his shoes.
He knew why he was staring at this specific spot, he was looking at the supposed pool of blood that had been here last week but cleaned up.
He had dragged Clark's body towards the gate where the guards corpses were allowing the blood to trail there as if they had killed each other before dragging it back to the same spot.
This was to ensure that nobody found out. Jason knew that if people found that he was the true killer of Clark that it would only be a matter of time before he was killed by someone way above his level in the clan.
They would make it seem like he had formed a pact with an unknown force that gave him such power so that his death would be swift, first he had to take part in the clan's "coming-of-age ceremony".
Before the trial they would make sure all the participants weren't under the effect of anything like a strength increasing drug or things like that.
It was only after the trial that he would be able to showcase his full power.
In the novel Zane never reminisced about the event so he didn't have any idea what grade of dungeon he would be thrown into. It could range from a rank 5-4 dungeon, or if they were really crazy a rank 3.
But his focus wasn't on that now, everyday he would come to this specific spot to stare at it for at least a good 20 minutes, his least concern was if they noticed something was off about this. Today was the last day, anyway.
His morals had taken a deep dive since he had gotten the Talent system, not only did it give him near photographic memory but now he didn't feel anything from killing a human being.
Jason felt angry and disappointed at himself that he had taken a life but it didn't get to the point of what he expected, he felt more like someone who was a little experienced in the field of killing.
In his last life he knew such a thing like gore wasn't something for him, he would vomit at even the sight of heavily described gore. Now he had just killed a man without a single thought of remorse, he had felt different.
"I don't... know." Jason muttered to himself.
He decided not to dwell on it for long, all he knew now was that he was Jason Hachiman now.
After settling his raging emotions he moved forward, today he planned to browse the market for something worth his time. Once again he had collected 10, 000 from the clan and planned to use the 14, 000 well.
Since it was well within his living area there were no guards here and there wasn't supposed to be, Emily was in the garden doing whatever she wanted, she had finished her training for today.
For some reason since yesterday every time he went outside or suddenly disappeared she would look for him like she was afraid that he had forgotten her.
It was as if she was scared of a possibility of him leaving her.
Jason didn't have anywhere else to go even if he wanted to so he couldn't leave her and for someone to have lost her memory she didn't have much she remembered about her life.
Even her parents were blurry in what remained of her memory.
Jason sighed as he walked slowly, in his last life what he was living now was...
His line of sight caught two people walking together, what was strange was the fact that they were here, they didn't look a day over 15.
One of them was dressed in a red shirt and black pants, his hair was cut short and his red eyes was the color of blood. The other one was a girl dressed in a long sleeveless red dress with slits among the side and light-colored pants.
They walked like they were the owner of the place, each of their steps carrying pride.
Jason stopped walking, what he saw was unexpected and he didn't even recognize them, they moved as if they were the son and daughter of the clan head himself.
'Damn side-characters.' Jason sighed.
He wished that they would leave him alone but it seemed they were looking for trouble, something he would like to avoid.
After some seconds he began walking again, as they stopped walking and looked at him he passed them not planning on any conversation.
The two of them turned their heads back, the person they had come for had just walked past them.
"Hey trash!" The boy called out to Jason.
Jason didn't bother looking back and continued walking.
"My brother is talking to you!" The girl shouted.
At those words Jason turned back, they were looking at him in disdain.
"I thought he was talking to you." Jason said calmly.

Looking at their stats Jason had an urge to laugh out loud, their abilities were so pitiful that they were even worse than Zane when he was 11! And then they didn't even have any talents, they were useless.
But he held back, if he laughed they would try to bully him... And the end result would be troubling in the future.
"Our father, the 2nd elder told us about you, he told us that you were the trash of the Hachiman clan, a being born without any potential in magic. Even the commoners aren't humiliated this much, but if anyone outside learns of your existence you're dead-meat." Hereon said.
Jason thought back to the time when he went out a week ago, he was sure that at least some people saw him but they would probably be part of the clan.
Jason maintained an apathetic expression while looking at the two people in front of him.
"So what's it to you?" Jason questioned.
Hereon and his sister Titania smirked as they heard the question.
"How would you like to work under us?" Hereon extended his hand.
Hereon wanted to practice ruler-ship, he planned on using Jason as a test to sharpen his skills so that he could be a competent leader in the future.
'He called me trash first then wants me to work under him, he must have taken drugs.' Jason thought.
"If you work under my brother you don't have to worry about the trial, we'll protect you during it." Titania added.
'With their low stats they couldn't protect me from a cockroach.'
"I'm sorry but I have to decline." Jason said.
"Of course- WHY?!" Hereon hadn't expected this, he was sure that his plan would work.
"The purpose of this trial is to test my skills and if you guys support me I'll only slow you down." Jason explained.
Hereon didn't speak, his mind was reflecting the words he had just heard, never had someone rejected him.
He wanted to be the strongest in the clan but he knew that what he wanted was impossible, so he wanted to gather an army that would put him on the same ranks as the prodigy of the Hachiman clan.
But his practice recruit rejected him when they promised him a chance of survival in a place that he was going to die.
Titania was angered at this, without a second thought she threw a punch at his face attempting to cripple him.
She had put all her power behind that punch, if it landed she could easily predict that he would be crippled for life but also sport a disfigured face.
"Is this what you call a punch?" Jason muttered but the two of them heard him.
He raised his palm up and caught her hand.
"Let go of me!" Titania shouted in rage and embarrassment.
Her brother was watching her and she just proved she wasn't even strong enough to beat this boy.
He let go of her for a split-second before grabbing her middle finger and twisting it upwards. He broke her middle finger, the sound of a bone cracking was heard.
"I respect that you wanted to help me but I don't recommend violence, at least not against me."
