Chapter 7: It Hurts

"Ahh, thank you for bringing me home. Take care, Pao," I said after getting out of his car.

"No worries, are you sure you can be alone now? I can talk to my parents to make you feel better," he offered with a hint of concern.

"No, I don't want to bother you. Be careful when you get home." I just smiled at him, and he nodded before driving away.

Fortunately, Faye agreed to what we wanted. Just seeing hee happy makes me feel good.

I only do housework, schoolwork, and hospital work. Sometimes, every time I go home, I find Theo waiting outside, but I just ignore him.

"What are you doing here?" I asked tiredly when I caught up with him outside the house.

"Let's talk. Please, I'm doing what you want, even against my will. But let's fix this. C'mon."

"Theo, look, don't come near me. Maybe someone will see us and reach Faye. I'm begging; I don't want anything bad to happen to her," I said last before getting into the passing taxi.

Even if I wanted to talk to him, I couldn't because of Faye. As soon as we reached the hospital, she started getting angry and said that she would not get better. What if she finds out that Theo is still approaching me?

Maybe it's better if we don't talk anymore.

After arriving at the hospital, I immediately went straight to Faye's room.

Before I even got close to her room, I saw a commotion outside because there was Mommy crying, the doctor, nurses, guards, and police.

"What?! You need to find her! My daughter is sick! Then you just let her go?! What if something bad happens to her?" Mama snorted while crying.

"What's happening here?" I grabbed Mama and hugged her as I got closer to them.

"Mam, Miss Faye is missing. The nurses said they saw her leave the hospital. They said they stopped Miss Faye because she didn't want to be weaned," explained our driver.

"I called her; she didn't answer. I'm worried; maybe something bad will happen to her." Mama cried and hugged me again.

"Ija, talk to her, please. I don't want to lose her; I can't handle it."

I nodded one after the other to reassure him.

I don't know how I will feel about what happened. But all I know is that something happened that made Faye leave.

"Ben, take care of Mama first. I'll just talk to the doctors and nurses, as well as the guards." Our driver nodded.

"Alright, Miss Jade," he said before I glanced at Mama and left her in the hospital room.

As soon as I got out, I went straight outside since they were waiting for me there.

"What's the news? Do you know where my twin is?"

"Not yet, Mam; we can't report to the police because your sister has been missing for less than 24 hours," explained one of the guards.

I just held my breath because of what was happening.

I took my phone and dialed Faye's number. I just hope she answers.

"Faye." I was surprised when she answered that.

[What do you want?] She said it in a cold voice.

"Where are you? Why did you leave the hospital?"

[What do you want?] She asked me irritably.

"Faye, Mama and I are worried. Come back here."

[Why would I? This is what you want, right? To lose me? ]

"What the fuck are you saying?" I asked her, confused.

[He left me. He left me because of you. You were the one who said that, right? You told him to leave me!] She shouted and began to cry.

"No, I didn't do that."

[Liar! You just want to solo him! Now, go solo because I'm not coming back. You should be the only one who is sick. You should be the one to die! ]

"Hey, let's talk. Go home—Hello? Faye? Fuck!"

I tried to call her cell phone again, but she couldn't be reached.

Depressed, I just sat in that chair and was dumbfounded by what happened.

"Hey, are you okay? I heard what happened. How are you?" My ears perked up when I heard that voice, and I felt like I wanted to explode with anger.

I looked at him badly and quickly stood up.

The sound of my slap echoed on his cheek, which quickly made him blush.

"This is all your fault! I told you! Help her! Look at what was done; she's missing now!" I accused him while crying and beating his chest.

"I-I'm sorry,"

"Sorry?! Is that all you can do? Apologize?! Theo, why are you so selfish? If something bad happens to my sister, I will never forgive you. Remember that."

I said the last thing to him before turning around and quickly leaving him.

A few days passed, and she still didn't come back. We are assisting the police in the search. But we still couldn't see her

"Mom, please. You need to eat. You might be the one who gets sick," I insisted to my mother while eating the food that she couldn't even look away from.

"I don't feel like it, Jade. I'm worried about your twin. What if she gets attacked by her sickness? I don't think I can handle it if she's gone," she said and began to cry again.

I stroked it and tried to make her sit down. This is the only way I know to make her feel even a little bit better.

After a while, my phone rang. I quickly picked it up when I saw the caller's name.

"F-Faye!" I shouted, and Mama looked at me. Other policemen are already there.

"Where are you? Please, go home. I'm worried." I couldn't finish what I was going to say when I heard her sobs. I was nervous about what was happening to her.

[J-Jade, help me, please. I-I'm scared. He will kill me,] she almost whispered. I looked at the police in confusion, and they signaled for me to put the call on loudspeaker, which I did immediately.

"What? Where are you?" I asked nervously.

[I'm in an abandoned building. Near the hospital. Please, he took me. I don't know him because he is wearing a mask. H-He will kill— Faye? ]

My heart was beating fast, and I didn't move when I heard a man's voice in the distance. My sister suddenly became silent, and you will notice in the call that she got up to run.

[Let's stop this hide-and-seek. C'mon, let's finish this,] the man asked impatiently. I couldn't say it because it sounded like he was using a voice changer.

[I'm on the highway, please. Help me, I'm scared.]

I looked at the police, and they signaled to leave. Maybe they will go to the nearest abandoned building to the hospital.

"F-Faye, the police are on their way. Please hide, and as much as possible, don't try to fight back, okay?" She did not speak, and only sobs could be heard.

[A-Alright, I'll hide in the woods first.] Oh, no. She stopped talking, which surprised me.

"Faye? What happened? Faye?"

[Run, Faye, run!] I heard my sister run and the sound of the car, as if she were being chased.

I'm crying because of what's happening.

"F-Faye?! What's happening? Wait--Faye?! Faye!] I screamed when I heard a collision and the sound of Faye's cell phone being thrown. Before the call was lost, I heard Faye speak, which made my life tremble.

[T-Theo,]

End of Flashback:

"That's what happened. And she mentioned Theo's name, so I'm sure he did that to Faye."

We stopped after reaching the opposite gate of Flare University.

"He said a while ago that he already proved that he's innocent. And you're there. So why do you still continue to believe that?" Oscar asked me seriously.

"Their family is rich and powerful, so I won't be surprised if he is innocent in the eyes of the people."

"If I ask you, do you think Theo can do that? Knowing that he loves you so much?"

I was suddenly stunned by Russel's question and couldn't speak immediately.

"See? Even you yourself don't believe that he can do that. Loosen up, the real person who did that to your sister has not been found yet. You shouldn't blame Theo for a sin he didn't commit."

I just didn't speak and left them there to go back to the room first.

Maybe he didn't do it.

But he is still the reason why all this happened.

So they can't blame me for why I'm still mad at him.
