Chapter 14
He sat down beside her and lifted the second cup. She broke off half the first curl of the roll and nibbled at it. The rich sweetness nearly melted in her mouth. Now her fingers were sticky, but that was okay. She broke off another piece and held it out to Tom.
“I don’t do breakfast,” he began, but the words were hardly out of his mouth before she shoved the morsel against his lips. His tongue flicked out, tasting the spice, the sugar. He shook his head. “Okay, you convinced me. Just one bite.” But as she suspected, one was not enough. They shared the roll, bite for bite, and when it was gone he caught her wrist and carefully licked off all the sticky icing clinging to her fingers.
