Akio looked around the room, his evolution was practically instantaneous. But he can't quite remember what happened. it felt like it was a pretty quick evolution process as when he looked outside it was still day. But that could be wrong, after all, he had lost all senses during evolution and decided to look around. His legs which used to not even reach the end of the sofa now dangled, almost reaching the floor. Akio looked at himself in the mirror located on the opposite side of the room, opposite the small table. He now had the body of an older child, around 11 years old in appearance alone. His eyes which used to be green now were an icy blue, his pupil seemed to be frozen as it was now an extremely dark blue and not a black. His hair was now white with a light blue tint, small horns curled back, the color of the midnight sky eminent in them. He now had a tail and it dragged lowly on the floor. He was just above average in height for his age, but not too much taller.

'Welp, I'm going to scare my parents as this' Akio looked at this, his father would be shocked and his mother would be terrified. After all, neither of them had these traits.

'At this rate mom is going to be accused of something she didn't do'

Akio looked at these satisfied, it was a huge boost! But he thought it was average because of the age increase.

Akio was glad, the discount was a lot greater than he had thought. Now that he has a skill he decided to open up his status screen. After all, he has gotten a lot stronger, he also has a skill so it's worth a look. 'Open status'

Akio looked at this pleased, he had noticed that the format of this new menu has changed 'why did my menu change?'

Akio still gets shivers whenever the system speaks, its deep voice sounds a little too powerful for his liking.

'Transform' Akio pictured his previous appearance in his head and felt his tail retracting. He looked into the mirror to see that instead of human ears he now had the ears of a beastkin, his hair was still white but with a blue tint but his eyes were now just like a normal blue. Overall he looked just like a normal beastkin.

"MOM I'm done with my evolution!" Akio called in a much more powerful voice than what he used to have. Still high pitched... ugh.

Akio heard scrambling footsteps from the kitchen and when she saw him she let out a squeal

"YOU EVOLVED INTO AN ARTIC FOX!! I KNEW THAT YOU COULD DO IT" Ari let out a small grunt as she picked him up and gave him a big hug.

[cringe, your mother is cringe. can she literally say it in any other way.]

'System why did you transform me into a beastkin?, and shut up.' Akio thought while hugging his mom back happy that she was excited.

[your evolution choices are chosen because of three factors. The first is your genetic lineup, the second is your gifts, and lastly your surroundings. Since there are a ton of beastkin in this village I decided this was the best option.]

'I see' Akio just accepted it and nodded his head. He looked outside and had an idea.

"Mom, can I go outside now?" Akio asked with small jumps. He was excited only part of his mind was an adult and evolution didn't change that. He was still a kid and he wanted to explore.

When his mom nodded at him with a smile, Akio let out a loud celebratory laugh and ran outside. The street in front of him was busy with kids playing with wooden swords, traveling merchants, and carts full of equipment. Produce booths and restaurants and some friendly cats every once in a while. This town was full of people from all races, some beastkin some devils, and humans. Which was an odd sight, he read that the three sides were in conflict with each other but are not set on war. But his main focus was to be stronger, in fact, half of the kids weren't really even playing but were having sword fights. Tournament style, of course, they need to find who is the strongest after all. But Akio wasn't here to learn swordsmanship, yet at least. He went straight in between two houses and in-between their fences. the gap widened and he realized that he was in a very small town. It only stretched about a mile in each direction and it had a large number of houses. it seems this town was reliant only on itself as it was heavily secluded in every direction. Akio knew this because all of the trails leading out of the town were filled with grass and weeds. clearly, hasn't been trampled on by horses in a while. Akio went forward, ahead of him was a line of trees that stretched far to the right of the town. He was on the edge of town. He pumped his fist to give himself confidence and trotted into the forest.

'TO BE FAIR MOM I NEED TO START SOMEWHERE.' he yelled in his mind, his mother would probably whoop him back into a newborn if she knew where he was heading. He had no weapon but he had his flare skill.

'wait... I don't even know if it works yet.' He looked around for a good place to test it without burning everything down, after all, it was named flare for a reason.

*EYYYYAHHHH!*

Akio turned quickly to look at the THING that was making the noise. It was a small, fat, and stubby green monster. It looked sort of like a goblin but it was too fat and a little too tall for that. He decided to use appraisal because of this.

'interesting, so even this part of the system changed.' he looked at the screen in front of him and proceeded to look up at the goblin.

'paunchy is one way to put it' it took most of his control not to laugh at this goblins race, after all, PAUNCHY was certainly not the best word to have in your species name of all things. The goblin looked at Akio with a predatory gaze, it smiled viciously realizing Akio was only a kid, and drool dropped between its cheek and past its trip-quadruple chin.

"EW! NO THANKS. NOT INTO STINKY BOWLING BALLS" Akio was nauseated by the look of this thing. He decided it was probably best to move along before he got whatever that thing was near him. he backed up in a hurried walk into the opposite direction.

The goblin didn't like that

Akio heard rapid footsteps charging towards him and he jumped to the left, right as a thick tree branch hit the ground where he was just at. The goblin looked at him with its bloodshot black eyes and charged once again, lifting its stick high in the air.

Akio looked at the goblin and its large branch. He felt a large cold lump start to form in his chest and he looked straight at the goblin.

"Flare"
