Lost in the woods (1)

Akio stumbled along with a grunt, the past day had been a blur. he could barely recall what he was doing a minute ago. The only thing from keeping him from forgetting where and who he was was the ruffling of the grass under their feet. Nell was dragging her feet, her arms crossed as she shivered. The other lady was still clutching him as they stumbled into a small clearing, the trees had parted into a small cone, revealing a open resting area. They all had been walking for over 3 hours and it was taking a huge tax on their will. They lied down onto the grass, too tired to do anything more. Akio sat up with his back on a nearby fallen down tree. The roughled texture was poking into his back but it was not noticed as he opened his system.

He looked around, with his repaired consciousness the scene around him appeared a lot direr and safer than before. While this contradicted him, He soon opened his system up to place his other rewards. As he did so many notifications popped up causing a ruckus in noise

He was only one level away from his mother, which had shocked him because was only grinding levels for a day and grinding wasn't even a word that suited his experience. Akio had decided to ask the system this, after all. if this world was that weak wouldn't it take him only a couple of days to be the strongest?

[Not quite, little one, your mother is a Dryad. They are higher than regular beings like you and your father. They get their experience from nature and have ridiculously high wisdom because of so. But your mother is only level nine, which by now she should be around 300 or so. so using your mother as a baseline is highly unlikely, as for what is strong. The knights you had killed earlier were obviously just stand-ins as they were around 18 and only level 12-15. making them plebians in this world. just above citizens. But level is not everything, their stats alone were about twice as much, excluding speed. however, from the book you're mother gave you. Some of the monsters had levels ranging from 800-999. No matter how skilled you are currently, you'll be obliterated ]

Akio was pleased with this explanation. but the situation with his mother had only deepened, first the odd side effect and now how weak she is. But his mother may be dead. He fought that last thought and shook his head and slammed his fist on the fallen tree. This just meant he had to get stronger, then find out why. He looked towards the older woman, who was now casting a small healing spell on herself, not as high as his mother's but it was enough to heal all of her bruises and small cuts. he walked over towards her.

"May I have your name miss?" He spoke with a friendly tone to try and get her too open up.

"It's Milda, thank you for helping me." she gave a curt nod but then looked at him with confusion

"May I ask your name? As well as how you are already healed. you had large gashes on your leg, No basic healing spell could heal that deep cut. even if you had one it would take a while for it to heal." Milda was perceptive, and rightfully so. her large ears twitched. it was hard too tell her hair color with how much ash she had on her.

'she's perspective, even while me and Nell were in such a shocked state she still took that into count, even saw how deep the gash was. maybe it's just maturity.' Akio thought while puzzled, after all how can he explain the sudden recovery? He had thought about it and decided to tell the minuscule truth.

"Well, I had just leveled up a couple of times. Which had healed all of my gashes." His face was stiff with cold sweat, with no current idea with how others system worked, everything he said was a risk. Milda stared at him, her left ear twitched shacking off smoked hairs.

" I see, you must've leveled up quite a bit" she gave him a smile and returned to healing her wounds.

"Could you help that girl over there? She doesn't seem to be doing all too well." She turned her head towards Nell who was sitting on a pieces of moss and gripping her shoulders and shivering slightly while bouncing her small legs.

Akio shuffled over towards he and sat down beside her, he proceeded to wrap his arms around her shoulder.

"We're safe now, you don't have to worry." He whispered to her. The small girl stoped bouncing her legs and nodded. Her hair had turned a dark shade of brown. Akio started to pet her head while wiping all of that ash off. Tears started to flow out of the little girl, she was only a child, this has probably shaken her thoroughly. Akio sat with her while she cried into her knees and looked around him.

The sky awoke him as the suns flares invaded the leaves and onto his face. He stirred and sat upwards, nells head was on his calf asleep. He peered around for Milda, Milda was found tearing a leg off a boar with a sharp stone. The boars head was beaten in with a large amount of force.

"Mornin, think you could start a fire?" She saw him and asked as nodded towards a pile of dead bushes behind him. Akio nodded and lifted Nells head off of him onto a soft patch of moss. The bushes were filled with dead leaves and ash probably fallen from the sky. He grabbed a few and looked upwards. It seemed to be around mid day and the sky was now a nice shade of blue, as if nothing had happened.

He placed a small amount of sticks in the middle of the clearing, then placed rocks and piles of dirt around it. Causing a forest fire is the last thing he needs. He grabbed some leaves and some larger logs and then threw them into the makeshift pit. He was about to use magic but remembered a crucial issue, his was blue and cold.

"Hey would you mind setting this on fire?" Milda turned her head and nodded. She pointed towards the fire pit and started chanting something that was ancient to Akio. Then a small flame shot like a bullet towards the fire.

'That's awesome' he thought, he then helped Milda tear off more parts of the wild boar and then placed them angled on the fire to roast. Which was the best way too cook it at the time.

The smell of cooked meat radiated threw the air and it was enough too wake up Nell, she was now sitting near the fire to warm herself up. She was wearing a small home made gown that was well-made but didn't look too warm. Behind her some of the bushes ruffled and a snout poked out.

"AH FUCK" Milda raged when she saw the mutt.

A small pack of wolves entered the clearing, only 4 as it seemed.

"There's 6 of them, 4 in front and two in the forest. God danmit, why didn't the fire scare them off? Do these animals have any fear?" Akio listened to her bickering as he shuffled in front of Nell. Then the front wolf started charging towards Milda
