Why Should I Believe You?
Adeline was as beautiful as she'd always been, but she looked miserable and unhealthy. It was almost as if she was going through the same agony he went through.
Could that be possible? Could Nikolai be right when he said she might not have even lived okay after she left him?
But if so, why did she never come back to him? If he hadn't found her, she never would have returned, right?
Caesar was too conflicted, not knowing what to think or believe at that point.
His thumb rubbed against her lip and in his eyes, something possessive and seeking to claim burned in them. He moved closer, subconsciously burying his face in her neck.
There was her scent. He had missed it way too much. It was the same—so sweet, like he had remembered.
A smile tugged at his lips, and he suddenly realized she had not been with anyone else other than him. If she had, her scent would have been tainted by whoever it was.
