Survival Of A Background Character

So, you think you've got life all figured out? Well, imagine waking up in the body of a third-rate villain from a novel you once scoffed at. That's exactly what happens to your not-so-average high school student turned reluctant anti-hero. Picture this: transmigrate into the body of a suspended student from school, banished from his noble family, and now trapped in a world where magic reigns supreme and destiny calls the shots. Oh, and did I mention he's got a one-way ticket back to reality? All he has to do is complete a series of tasks to fix the messed-up storyline. Easy, right? Hell no!! But hold on a second. This ain't your typical hero's journey. Chris isn't exactly the noble, tragic figure you'd expect. Nope, he's more of a sarcastic, self-aware protagonist who's not afraid to ask the real questions. Like, why bother with destiny when you can't even get your morning coffee right? Or how about facing your past mistakes when you can just blame it on the plot? And don't even get me started on trying to outsmart fate itself. As Chris stumbles through this twisted tale of magic and mayhem, he's forced to confront his own shortcomings, forge unlikely alliances, and maybe—just maybe—find a way back to the life he left behind. But with every sarcastic quip and sardonic remark, he's also asking you, the reader, to join him on this wild ride. So, buckle up, because in a world where reality is just a plot twist away, Chris Harrison is about to rewrite the rules and show destiny who's really in charge.

First Day At Academy

When I died, I was already about to graduate from high school in a few days. Time flew by too quickly, that I wasn't able to notice that my high school years were coming to an end.

My classmates were all enjoying their last few moments of teenage life before becoming adults. Meanwhile I was too much worked up for the entrance exam that all of my time went into studying.

But deep inside I knew that these few moments of my life would never come back, and I somehow had lingering regrets not being able to do what others were doing.

Still, I don't regret my choice. I mean thinking logically, its the best course of action. We were not a well off family, so I had to get into a stable job as soon as possible.

However, now I have got a second chance, would I be able to enjoy my school life a little after all?

With that line of thought and wondering about the upcoming events, scenarios and predicaments I would be in, I couldn't help but think that it must be a privilege to reincarnate after all.

I mean, redoing my school life, in a fantasy novel I have already read, isn't that super lucky?

Well, for now, let's see how this academy looks from inside!

[Poop alert! You have stepped on dog poop.

Hidden Task 1 : Quickly go clean that stinking worn out shoe of yours.]

Seriously?

***

Well, keeping aside the fact of the terrorists, I tried to take it easy on my first day. As the academy was pretty far from where I was living, I had to start running 2-3 hours before gate opening time.

But the poop alert made me late quite a bit. The gates were about to be closed, when I got there.

Guess, its better to start running a little earlier.

As I entered through the gates, I could feel a lot of hateful gazes already. It seemed like this school life is not all roses either.

It was fortunate enough that nobody picked fight with me until I got to my class.

Actually, I had already asked Christiana where my class was, so it became a bit easy. I still remember the confused stare she gave me.

Well, its not like location of each and everything is mentioned in web novels. Moreover, in most of these reincarnation type settings, the protagonist gets the memories of the body he/she has possessed.

But nothing of the sort happened with me, so I have to figure out myself.

Each year has nearly 160 students and each class within that year has nearly 40 students. I was in class B and not to mention with 2 main characters at that.

Scott Benjamin and Emmeline Neville are my classmates. Everyone else except Kevin is in class A. Kevin is in class C.

But it doesn't seem like these letters have anything to do with rankings of students. I mean, Scott is the top student in our whole year, but still he is in class B.

1st year students were given a whole building for the 4 classes, training ground and cafeteria.

Class B was in the second floor along with class A. The other two classes were in the first floor. That was all I could see when I reached at my class's entrance door.

When I entered inside, everyone was already on their seats so I knew what was going to happen next.

Ignoring all the stares and back-talking, I went to a secluded seat at the end of the classroom near a window.

Yeah, window seats are the best. If we conduct an auction for seats, I would bet all my savings on that seat alone. So, I am truly grateful that it is empty.

No, actually, only the seat was empty. There were all sorts of insults written all over the desk.

...Am I supposed to get offended here and feel like I am getting bullied?

Well, not that I care about all of this. Moreover, Chris did something worth being hated by everyone.

From the various sorts of writings, one of them was written in a bit bold letters.

'The Fallen Noble.'

That's the title I have gained.

As I was thinking of cleaning up this shit after the class, a teacher came inside.

Simultaneously, a passage from that novel, Rising of the strongest swordsman, flashed through my eyes.

'As the classroom settled into a quiet murmur of anticipation, the door swung open, and in walked Professor Adrian Blake. He exuded a blend of charisma and sophistication that immediately captured everyone's attention. Tall and well-built, he stood at about six feet two inches, with a lean athletic frame that hinted at his active lifestyle. His dark, wavy hair was artfully tousled, giving him an effortlessly stylish look that many students admired.'

Seems like he is the man. He started teaching something about relations of weapons with mana, with a cheerful smile on his face.

This class went surprisingly well. I bet, all the female students have already fallen for him.

It is considered the best academy in Eldoria. Surely, the teachers must be best of the best.

Well, they are still whispering about me, but I think it's fading away gradually.

Despite their behavior as typical teenagers, they are nobles from respected families. Moreover, after that incident between Chris and Kevin, strict measures must have been taken against further bullying.

That means slowly and steadily, I would become just an extra in this class fading into the background.

To my surprise, all the other classes after that one went smoothly. I guess, that dog poop worked like a good luck charm for me.

As for the main characters inside my class, both were sitting at the front. How did I recognize them? Well, that's of course they were the center of attention the whole time. And from the description of their appearance, it was pretty much matching.

After first half was over, everyone flocked around those two. Girls around Emmeline and boys around Scott.

Well, not getting any further attention would be good for my health. So, I started walking towards the cafeteria. That cleaning, I would do after I get some water bottle.

As I was about to enter into the cafeteria, situated at the ground floor, someone called me from behind.

"Excuse me, can you spare me some time?"

A girl with golden hair and emerald eyes, her hair fluttering and dancing with the wind, her voice sounded like a typical energetic and popular girl.

If I remember correctly, the whole student council decided upon suspension to be a fitting punishment for me. She must have agreed to that too.

That means she doesn't have any positive opinion of me.

So what are you here for, Emmeline?

"Well, let's move to another place first. We would attract attention if you approach me." I suggested and she nodded her head.

After getting a suitable location to talk, I asked.

"So what were you talking about?"

"I was asking if you have some time to spare. I have something I want to discuss with you."

.

.

.

Is she making fun of me? Is this a prank?

"You know who I am right? Or else are you mistaking me for someone else?"

"No! No! You are Chris Harrison right? I remember you well."

"Then are you going to talk about those artworks on my desk? If that's the case, then I was going to clean it as soon as I have had my launch here."

"..."

Her expression changed suddenly and became a little bit serious with some hint of a determined look on her face. Then she threw me off balance by mentioning something I didn't expect.

"I want to discuss about a potential terrorist attack on this academy. Please listen to me carefully."

Yeah.

Just as I was going to take it easy, not drawing any unnecessary attention, for the rest of the day, she woke me up to reality.

Dog poops are bad luck after all.
