I swiftly threw the bladed ring at Austin, watching it bounce three times off of the floor, and then fly to his right-hand side.
He watched it fly right past, and charged in at me.
There are two things I can't forget about here...
The scarf, and the blades.
Those blades can come up at any given point in time, meaning that I was always in danger. There was no true point of safety.
Austin's weapon consisted of a spiky handle with the scarf wrapped around in the shape of a sword. If that hit me, it would fill me with water.
This isn't Orion's war... this isn't the same motivation, the same firepower, the same level of danger, or anything of the sort.
This is much worse. This is one hit, and I'm dead.
This is much more dangerous...
As we came head to head, I used my crossbow at a close-range to stop his scarf from doing anything. The string pulled back with the arrow colliding with the scarf. It was wrapped in Essence Strands, and unable to attack me at all.
I drew the sword from my hip next, and slashed upward at his chest. Austin was surprised yet again, but after he grabbed onto my sword, my initial thought of how stupid he was subsided.
He turned my blade into a mess of his own, piercing my left hand as I held it and causing me to profusely bleed out of small holes in my hand.
The Essence Strands came undone from the scarf and he whipped his sword back. It was coming right at my head!
The hollow noise of two pieces of metal banging together shot out right in front of me as Rin clashed with Austin next. The sharpness of the katana cut into the scarf on Austin's weapon, and he was left started again, reaching for Rin's weapon.
She skillfully dropped it, crouched down on the ground, and planted her palm into Austin's stomach.
The shockwave that was emitted was unreal... unlike I've ever seen before. In fact, there were only two people capable of emitting a shockwave like that, and both of them are Deities... what was going on with her?
Right as her palm connected, Ren jumped up in the air, missing a ton of blood, some hair from her head, and possessing an enraged look on her face.
She swiped down at Austin and the scarf caught her katana because he was unaware of what was going on.
Then, Ellios jumped in right after, raising his hand while Austin was wide open.
One punch to the shoulder, one to the stomach, and one to the chest.
Ellios shouted out the name of the fabled attack, "Jertachi", an attack meant for Essence Users to damage Strand Users.
That attack specifically amplified primal needs, such as food, water, shelter, clothing, or sleep.
Austin was shot back again after the 4 on 1 clash between Ren, Rin, Ellios, and me.
It was beginning to clear up to me why Austin was so dangerous. Or rather, why he wasn't the dangerous one.
He was a long-winded idiot, hiding under the veil of intelligence that the scarf he was holding possessed. Austin isn't he reason he's so important in Quake, it's Amy that we need to be worried about.
"You guys are hurting my little brother a lot, you know?" From the smoke of Austin's launched body, a feminine voice came out.
His body started to morph, losing the muscle in his body, and becoming much more curvy after shifting to that different voice.
The scarf he wore to symbolize Amy's presence wrapped tightly around her chest, and strands started to explode out of her legs. They were lighting up in the smoke...
The first thing she did was run at me with a sword curved at a wide angle. It had a weird angle, almost like it was bent at forty-five degrees. Not bent enough to be a boomerang, but too bent to be a normal sword.
As it hit mine, I realized the sheer difference in strength between us and summoned the bladed-ring back to my position.
It inserted itself into Amy's back and dug its way through her spine. She groaned out in pain and grabbed onto the inside, snapping it in half, and pushed it halfway through my sword before Ren intervened to save me.
Ren slashed at Amy's face, but she ducked and grabbed onto the blade before Ren could do anything.
Ren's eyes went wide and Ellios pushed her out of the way as it exploded in smaller blades. It shot into Ellios' chest and straight through his right arm, causing him to fall toward the ground from the pain.
Amy pushed Ren away and took another look at me, shaking her head.
"You can't fight me alone? You know, I hate being teamed up on. I'll take out the rest of them, and then we can have a duel, how does that sound?" Amy asked me with the same smile her brother had.
"Not happening," Ellios muttered. He took a few blades out of his chest and scattered them toward Amy's face. She nervously backed up, to which Ellios tripped her ankles out and slashed her left eye out of her body before running into the alleyway of the buildings nearby the field.
Amy scoffed in a fury and Rin slid her katana into her back. Amy wasn't smart either... what's the deal then...? Why are you so powerful, Austin?
I peered as the fight came to a standstill, watching as Amy covered the wound on her left eye and turn her body weakly while trying to get Rin away from her. Rin already backed up with her katana and held it widely while watching her.
"Quake isn't so powerful... are they?" Ren asked, coughing from fatigue while watching Amy from a distance as well.
Her wounds healed, slowly, but not even completely as scars started to form and dried blood was still on her body.
"Just kidding," Amy shortly said.
