Closure

Immediately after the introduction where Alex's business was selected, Emily felt the need for a celebratory party.

Nothing too but just a few people and then some food and drinks at the office .

Alex gave her a day off to rest up but Emily used that day to plan the party .

They came in to office a few days after the event to meet Kathleen and Emma congratulating them .

Emily went into Alex's office a few hours later to let him know of the party and if he would be around.

Not giving it so much thought Alex agreed. Kathleen and Emma assisted with the drinks and food ordering. Since it wasn't anything grand planned all they needed were a few non-alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks with finger foods and pizza .

Emily sent remind emails to the various people she invited. They involved customers of the company and other close friends.

Meanwhile on the other hand , Matilda was still in pain from the incident with Alex .s

She used work and other stuff to keep her busy and get her mind off the pain .

Matilda saw the calls and texts from Alex pleading for her forgiveness and some part of her felt she should let go and forgive him.

After a thorough thought session she realized it would be best for her to move on.

The weeks that followed she signed up for various dating apps she she can find love forget about Alex.

Matilda at the beginning of her search was not lucky at all.

Her first date was at a restaurant with a guy called Caleb who before they met was always talking about sex.

He made it clear that all that he wanted was sex which was honest but that was not what Matilda was looking for.

She got to the location earlier than Caleb and the moment he got there he started bombarding her with sexual compliments. At first it was cute but after a period of time it started to get annoying.

After the date Matilda decided to ignore him entirely. Her second date was not so great as well .

She went to the movies with the second guy was 6.4 ft tall and very handsome.

Initially she felt that he was the one until midway through the movie he put his hand on her thigh and started to move intending to touch her.

Matilda quickly took his hand off and warned him that she was not down for suck stuff yet.

This rather gave him the wrong impression as he was now energized to try harder. He kept trying to touch her thighs and boobs and she kept resisting and praying the movie ends quick.

After the movie ended he insisted they go back to his place but Matilda had seen enough to know she was not interested.

She asked him to wait in his car as she used the bath room. Immediately he went down to his car she got out through the other exit and ordered an Uber home.

After the two failed dates she felt she wanted to give up on searching for love online but decided to give a couple of tries.

She had a few other dates which some were not so terrible and she genuinely developed interest in some of them.

Matilda eventually decided to let things flow naturally so after her trial with the online dating apps she made her mind to move on and find happiness.

She wanted closure so she contacted Maria who was still remorseful about the whole incident.

Maria kept apologizing to her saying she didn't mean for things to go that way. Matilda did not want things to escalate so she forgave Maria since she was ignorant of everything that happened.

She valued the friendship Maria and her had built over the past few years and didn't want to jeopardize it.

They decided to meet up one day after work at the mall food court . Matilda had some grocery shopping to do and she felt meeting at the mall was convenient .

Maria met her sitting at the food court already digging in some fries and chicken wings , quickly approaching the table she's asks if she can sit which Matilda politely obliged.

Matilda: hey , how you doing ? Excuse me but I was farmished so I decided to order before you came.

Maria : hello , I'm good . How you doing? Don't worry about it . Enjoy your food.

Matilda : Thanks , lemme get the waiter to bring you something. What would you care for ?

Maria : I already ate before coming so a drink would be fine.

Matilda calls in the waiter and others a glass of apple juice for Maria.

After Matilda had eaten enough and was full she pushed aside her left over and leaned in her seat and Maria sensed they were about to have a serious conversation now.

Matilda: Okay so the reason I asked for us to meet up was because I wanted exposure on your relationship with Alex. What happened? How did you guys meet? Did you know I was in the picture?

Maria : I suspected that's why you texted so lemme just come clean since you've always been a good friend. Alex and I met at an auction I called to invite him to because my boss insisted I invite him. So I did my job of making him comfortable and enjoying the auction. He followed up and asked we go on a date to get to know each other and he initially disappointed on the agreed date but came thought the second time where he gifted me jewelry as a way of apologizing.

Matilda : Interesting, I see. So he basically wanted to win you over and you were just doing your job .

Maria : Exactly! I found him to be cute and thoughtful but things were not at that stage yet.

Matilda: Okay. That's a relief . Thank you for being honest with me. I had been thinking about the whole incident and it was eating me up.

Maria : Anytime. You're welcome. May I ask what you intend on doing now?

Matilda: Well honestly I haven't thought that far but I will just have to stay far away from Alex as possible.

Maria : That's fine if that's what you really want.

Matilda and Maria later change the topic and catch up on each other's lives and some gossip before they parted way's

Matilda made her mind to text Alex letting him know she wants nothing to do with him and that it would be best if they stayed away from each other.

She called Alex when she got home and he immediately picked up on the first ring as if he was expecting the call.

Matilda: Hello , Alex

Alex : Hey, Matilda

Matilda : I called because I wanted us to talk and settle this once and for all.

Alex : Okay . First of all I wanna apologize once again for everything. Wouldn't it be better if we spoke in person. I deserve that at least.

Matilda not giving it a detailed thought agreed.

Matilda: Okay , when will you be free so we meet and talk?

Alex : I'm free after work. There's an office party but I won't stay for long. I would pass by immediately I leave here.

Matilda : Okay, see you later . Bye.

Alex : Goodbye

Alex was now pumped with energy seeing this as an opportunity to gain back Matilda's love and trust .

Back at the office Emily had decorated the conference room and set up the food and drinks there.

Alex decided to wrap up his work for the day so he packed up things in the office.

He headed to the conference room which was now a bit crowded and he saw familiar and non familiar faces.

He was more concerned about his meeting with Matilda than anything else. His goal was to exchange a few pleasantries and then leave before it got late.

Emily saw him get so she rushed to meet him and asked if he wanted anything which he said anything light . She rushed to the table with food and drinks and got him some juice with small chops.

Emily : here you go.

Alex : You've out done yourself once again. The set up is brilliant and the numbers are impressive.

Emily : Thanks . I had Kathleen and Emma help out .

Alex took a sip and decided to walk through. He met some representatives from the companies he's acquired and they had some conversations. After half an hour he told Emma he had somewhere to go sparing her the details .

Kathleen who had busily been engaged in conversations with other tech heads from the other companies saw Alex exit the conference room so she excused her and rushed to meet him.

Alex was just about to head to the parking lot when he heard rushed footsteps heading his direction. He turned and there stood Kathleen, looking nice since she had changed from her office attire into something a bit casual.

Kathleen asked Alex if he was gonna come back and why he was heading out so early .

Alex made her aware that he had something urgent to attend to so he won't return. This seemed to kill the excited mood Kathleen was in, but she stayed calm and watched Alex leave .
