In the end, we only regret the chances we didn't take.

*3rd POV*

There were times where Kin had offered to spend time with her.

Haru regretted not taking the offers that she made.

("Haru!" An excited voice called out from behind her. She turned around, coming face to face with Kin, her eyes gleaming in anticipation. "C'mon, let's go and get something to eat. My treat!"

Haru shook her head, not very eager to spend her afternoon with a hyperactive Kin.

Her smile faltered, then seemed to brush it off. "Alright, your loss!")

And now, as Kin was laying in front of her in a white hospital bed, she felt regret.

("Awe, look! The new shop in town looks pretty popular. Wanna check it out?" Kin said, smiling brightly.

"Maybe next time." Haru replied, just wanting to go to bed and get a nap in.

"I'll hold you to that!")

Why didn't she just accept the offer?

("Hey, Haru!" she said as her laughter died down. Haru perked up, staring at Kin with a blank face. "Why don't we take a quick walk outside?"

"No thanks." she replied bluntly, slouching back down with a sigh.)

("You better come with me next time, then." she huffed.

Haru only hummed in reply, watching Kin shut the door.)

The IV monitor started accelerating, a nearby doctor rushing to Kin's bedside.

("Hey Haru, there's a tea shop nearby, wanna go get a drink?"

"No thanks...")

The nurses and doctors began frantically moving around, yelling orders at one another.

("Oh, look! Let's go see!"

"I have to go...")

The monitor sped up even more, a nearby doctor desperately calling for a medic-nin that wouldn't come.

("C'mon, it'll be fun!"

"Maybe next time.")

The monitor suddenly stilled, the rapid beeps abruptly flowing into a long, continuous one, the noise filling her ears, everything around her becoming silenced by the sound.

("Tomorrow, you're coming with me, no objections." Kin sternly said, glaring at me. "You're not getting outta this one."

Haru raised her eyebrows, surprised by the harsh glare from the normally warm girl. "Alright, alright..."

"YES!" she squealed, completely ruining her harsh composure. "FINALLY! You aren't getting outta this one!"

Haru gave a small smile, maybe it wasn't going to be so bad after all, maybe it would be different from her time with Itachi...)

A wet substance trailed down her cheek and into her mouth, the salty taste of tears tingling on her tongue.

Everything began to slow, everything blurring together, before the familiar red spots began to dance on the floor once more.
