Summer Days *42*

The next day Ven still hadn't waken up. Or the day after that.Or after that.It was now coming close to a week and Ven was still asleep. It even worried Dr. Sunny who sent in Maria or Daniel daily to check up on him. Everyday would be the same result, all his vitals were near perfect. He just wouldn't wake up.You were sitting by his bed when Maria and Daniel both came in. Cloud and Tifa left earlier to grab a bite to eat in the Hospital cafeteria. Daniel looked around, his face fell when he found that Tifa wasn't in the room.Lately Daniel's taken a liking to Tifa, you'd catch him staring at Tifa and trying to flirt with her but he wasn't much of a flirty guy. Over the short time you've come to know him you've noticed he was a funny guy, but when he got around Tifa his tongue would get tied."Quit looking for Tifa and check the machines." Maria slapped him with the back of her hand lightly across his stomach.He blushed and mumbled something before walking over to the machines Ven was hooked up to.Maria came and stood by you, she did a few check ups on Ven. "Well nothing new to report today. Sorry [Name]." You smiled sadly and nodded at her. Cloud walked into the room and saw Daniel and Maria."Hey Cloud, just checking up on Ven here." She smiled at him.Cloud nodded at her, "No problem Maria, just came to ask if [Name] wanted something from the cafeteria."You shook your head, "I'm ok."Cloud turned to glare at Daniel. Daniel shifted from foot to foot nervously. You weren't the only one to notice the way Daniel acted around Tifa."Come on Maria, let's check on Mr. Jones on floor 3." Daniel hooked his arm through Maria's and headed for the door.Before they left you could hear Maria ask, "Who's Mr. Jones?"Then you heard Daniel shush her.Cloud walked towards Ven and set his hand on Ven's shin."Lazy little...", He sighed as his voice trailed away.You were silent, no words came to mind to speak."Who're you calling lazy you bum." Ven's hoarse voice rang in your ears."Ventus!" You and Cloud both cried."I'm gonna go get Maria." Cloud ran out of the room.Ven turned to look at you, there was a glazed look in his eyes."Ven?" You asked."Do I know you?" He asked.Your heart dropped like a rock. He tried to sit up but when he couldn't he gave up and sighed, "Where did Cloud go? Where's Roxas and Marlene?" He groaned and held his head, "Where's my mom?"You swallowed the lump in your throat you stood up and held your stomach. Ven didn't remember you. He didn't remember what happened to his mom and Marlene or to Roxas. Cloud walked back in with Maria and Dr. Sunny behind him. Dr. Sunny went straight to Ven and started check ups."Where am I?" Ven asked.Dr. Sunny didn't answer she just kept checking all his vitals. Maria got him a cup of water to clear his throat. "Cloud?" He asked."Yeah Ventus?" Cloud asked smiling."Cloud...", You tried to tell him. To warn him."Where's mom?" Ven asked.Cloud's smile fell right off his face."He doesn't remember...", You whispered to him."Does she know I'm in the hospital?" Ven asked again."His memory is gone!" Cloud yelled in the hospital hallway to Dr. Sunny.She sighed, "Please lower your voice. I understand how this can be frustrating-""Do you?! Do you really?!" He shot back.Tifa pulled on his arm, she had shown up a few minutes ago with Daniel. "I don't think he lost his memory." Daniel spoke up.Cloud narrowed his gaze towards Daniel, Daniel tensed and began to stumble over his words."Look what he's trying to say is that he isn't behaving like a normal memory loss patient." Maria spoke up, "All the tests I gave him prove that! He knows his name, age, birthday, he knows you. I think he's just confused."Cloud sighed and leaned against the wall."What can we do?" You asked."Well we can wait, that's one option. Wait and hope he remembers." Dr.Sunny said."Well, you could always remind him of his old life." Maria said."How do we do that?" Cloud asked Maria.She shrugged, "Do something that you would think make his memories come flooding back."They were silent, as they thought of something they could do."I know." Tifa said.Everyone turned to look at her. She turned to look at you."What if you kissed him [Name]?"You blushed, "W-What?"Cloud snapped his fingers and pointed at you, "She's right. Ven had the biggest crush on you, he'll remember that!""But what if that doesn't work?" You asked."Worth a shot right?" Daniel said.You looked over Ven, he had fallen back asleep. Not as deep as last time, just a small nap. Everyone stood around you, watching, waiting.You took in a deep breath and leaned towards him, as your face neared his, his eyes fluttered open."Wha-", that's all he got out before you pressed your lips to his.He seemed completely taken aback by the kiss, but when he began kissing back you pulled away."Ven?" You asked.He looked up at you, "Yeah?""Are you back?" You questioned.He chuckled, "Where did I go? Now if you don't mind I'd like to continue what we were doing a few seconds ago."Ven leaned forward to kiss you again, but you leaned back out of reach with a smile on your face. The room breathed a sigh of relief. Ven looked around and sat up."Where are we?" He questioned."Long story. So can we leave now?" Cloud replied, asking his question the Dr. Sunny.She looked hesitant, "I don't really want you to leave yet. Not until Ventus is fully healed."Everyone turned to Ven who was holding his head in pain now."My head is killing me, what happened?" He groaned.His hands brushed over the large yellow purple bruise on his forehead, his body tensed in pain."I wouldn't touch your head, it's gonna be really sensitive for a while." Maria informed him.He dropped his hands and laid back down."We really need to leave Doctor." Tifa urged.She sighed, "Let me go get the paperwork."Her, Daniel, and Maria filed out the door leaving the room."Where will we go?" You asked.They gave you a funny look."We were hoping you'd know considering this is your world." Cloud replied."I've never been to this part of Arizona before! I don't know what to do or where things are." You cried.Maria walked back in smiling, she handed Cloud a clipboard."Here just fill this out. The food bill and medical bill are included on there. Just write down your insurance number and we'll bill them. Be back in a second." She walked back out. Everyone minus Ven looked at the bill.You groaned, "I was afraid of this.""We can't afford that!" Cloud yelled."Do you have an insurance number [Name]?" Tifa asked hopefully.You sighed and shook your head, "I don't remember it.""We have to ditch." Cloud announced."What?!" You and Tifa yelled at the same time."I don't like the idea of it either you two." He sighed."They were so nice to us though...", You mumbled.The room was silent as a plan was thought out.Daniel walked to the room Tifa and he friends were staying in. He stopped outside of the door to quickly check his hair and breath. Once he found that his appearance was satisfactory he opened the door and stepped in.For a moment it was as if time itself froze.Daniel's eyes scanned the room.All the wires that were once connected to Ventus were on the bed. The machines were going crazy but the alarm wasn't going off like it was supposed to.He swiftly moved to the table at the end of the bed, on the table was the hospital check out forms plus the bill.On top of all that paperwork was a napkin, Daniel picked up the napkin and read the message that was quickly written on it:"The smiley face was a bit much don't you think Tifa?" Ven groaned.They had made it a block away from the hospital and now walked on the sidewalk through a busy downtown area.While they were escaping they found a scrub outfit much like the type Maria and Daniel wore so Ven now wore that rather than the white hospital gown due to the fact they couldn't find the clothes he originally came in."I think it went well." Tifa commented.Cloud joined into the argument but you toned them out. You stared at the people you passed. When it finally hit you, you froze to your spot.The auras were gone.Why you never noticed before escaped you.But you couldn't see a single aura.They must have noticed you stopped walking because you felt a hand on your shoulder."[Name]?" Cloud asked, "Are you alright?"You just nodded not finding the words. You stared at Cloud, this was the first time in a long time you saw him without the brilliant baby blue aura around him."We see a motel ahead we're gonna try and see if they have a room available." He continued.Cloud nearly dragged you to the small Motel where Ven and Tifa stood outside waiting. Ven leaned on Tifa's shoulder his eyes closed."What happened?" Tifa asked.Cloud shrugged."I can't see the auras." You mumbled."You can't?!" Tifa asked.You shook your head."So you are a Gazer, guess that explains how you could tell me and my clone apart...", Cloud muttered.You thought back at the hospital, you didn't know what Dr. Sunny, Daniel and Maria's aura was either!How did you not notice that?!"I couldn't see them when we first got to the hospital either! Why didn't I notice?" You cried.Tifa walked over and hugged you while Cloud stood where Tifa was so Ven would still have something to lean on."You were probably so worried about Ven you didn't notice. You've been under stress lately [Name]."You just leaned against Tifa quietly."Let's go inside and get a room." Cloud suggested.Cloud carried Ven inside and set him into a lounge chair before walking up to the front desk with you and Tifa in tow."One room please." Cloud said.The man behind the desk sighed and wrote something down."That'll be 60 dollars." Cloud stared at him,"What?""60 bucks dude." He replied in a bored tone."I thought it was 60 dollars, not bucks. Do you accept munny here?" Cloud asked."Uhh duh. Why wouldn't we accept money?" He asked in a tone that implied Cloud was insane."Um Cloud..", You began.Cloud reached into his pocket and pulled out 65 munny."This should cover it right?" He asked.The dude stared at it, "What is that?""Munny." Cloud replied."That's not money." The man behind the desk shot back.Cloud clenched his jaw and glared at the man behind the desk.You jumped in before Cloud attacked him."Sir I'm sorry we don't have any money, but we really need a place to stay." You begged.The man looked at Ven who was passed out on the lounge chair.He sighed and looked at Cloud's sneakers, the ones he bought from the sport store Zack and Terra worked at."I like your shoes."There was silence as everyone just stared at each other. Cloud grumbled under his breath and leaned over to take his shoes off. He dropped them on the desk."Room 7." The man handed Cloud a set of keys.Cloud walked over to pick up Ven and everyone headed down the hall to Room 7.
