*Ding dong*

"There goes the doorbell. One of you guys should get the door" Sandra said.

"Get it Ethan" Lesley said.

"Why don't you go get it? Why me"?.

"Duh, cause you're the youngest here. Just get the door. As you can see, I'm busy".

"Yeah, busy pinging with your phone".

"Yeah, I'm busy pinging my phone while you're sitting doing nothing. Just get the door boy".

"I'm also busy watching TV". Ethan replied.

"That's not being busy. You should be reading your books not watching TV".

"Shouldn't you apply that to yourself first"?.

"I have".

"Liar. You're literally with your phone now".

"Who says I must be with a book to claim I'm reading? I could literally read with my phone".

"I'm pretty sure that's literally not what you're doing with your phone right now".

"It's none of your business. Just get the door. You should learn how to listen to your elders".

"Whatever, I'll get the door because I want to not because you told me to".

"What's taking you guys so long to get the door" Sandra asked.

"I'll get it" Ethan said standing up.

Lesley looked at Ethan, sticking out her tongue at him.

He giggled and shook his head.

Lesley continued with her phone and heard Ethan open the door. For some seconds, everywhere was quiet. She was at least expecting to hear the voice of the person who rang the bell. Still busy with her phone, she said aloud, "Who was at the door Ethan"?.

"I was".

Lesley recognized that voice. She looked up and saw the person she was expecting to see, Rodney. Julia was also with him.

She stood up with a shocked face. Staring at Julia, she gave her a questioning look that says "What the hell is going on"?.

"Who was at the door guys"? Sandra asked from the kitchen.

"My friends, mom".

"Who? Julia"?.

"Yes, and also someone else".

Sandra stepped in into the living room.

"Well, well, who do we have here"?.

"Good afternoon Ma, I'm Rodney, Lesley's friend and schoolmate".

"Welcome Rodney, make yourself at home".

"Thank you ma".

"Ethan, what are you doing, get our guest some refreshments".

"No,no,no it's okay ma. I'll soon be on my way, I just want to pass some information to Lesley".

"Are you sure"?.

"Yes ma, I am".

"Don't worry mom, he said he's sure. We'll be in my room upstairs. C'mon guys, let's go to my room".

"Ok if you say so, Lesley if you end up needing any snacks, just come to the kitchen, I'm baking some cookies now".

"Ok I will".

They all went upstairs, with Lesley banging the door behind her.

Lesley tugged at Julia's clothe making her look at her.

"What's going on"? she asked again quietly.

"Just wait, you'll know".

"Your room looks nice" Rodney said.

"Thanks, my mom decorated it for me like this".

"She really did a good job".

"I know, she's the best".

Rodney sat on the sofa holding the teddy that was there, while Lesley and Julia occupied the bed.

"So, can you guys explain why the both of you came to my house together? What's going on"?.

"Oh, it's nothing that serious" Rodney replied.

"Then tell me why you're here. You guys took me by surprise".

"So you know the time when you found out your brother was being bullied"?.

"Yeah, how can I forget? It's still engraved in my memories".

"So Ethan kinda said during that moment that you didn't make it to the job interview you had that day".

"So"?.

"So, Julia told me you're still looking for a job now and I decided to give you a helping hand".

"Really, how"?.

"So I know this place, it's a restaurant to be specific, they're in need of a waiter, so I don't know if you'll like to apply for it".

"I would love to" Lesley said excitedly.

Rodney beamed with a bright smile. He was really glad she accepted his help.

"Great, for a minute I thought you wouldn't agree to take the offer".

"Why wouldn't I"?.

"You know, you might feel awkward or weird accepting my help considering we're still getting to know each other".

"It doesn't matter Rodney, we're friends, and I'm really glad you gave me this offer".

Rodney once again beamed with a wide bright smile. He was happy to hear her call him her friend.

"It's really nice hearing you call me your friend".

Lesley playfully hit him on his shoulder and chuckled.

"Stop behaving awkward Rodney, you're making me feel awkward too".

"Sorry".

"So when am I going for the job interview. When will I start"?.

"Oh, you don't need to go for any interview at all. You can start right away".

"Wow, really, that's awesome. Then I'll love to start on Monday after school".

"Sure no problem, I'll just inform the manager".

"Thank you so much, this means a lot for me".

"No problem. If you don't mind me asking, why do you need a part time job"?

"I do mind you asking" Lesley said with a stern face trying to tease him.

"Oh sorry for asking, just forget I even asked".

She giggled. "Just kidding, I don't mind you asking. I wanna get my mom a present since her birthday is coming up soon and I have no cash with me, so I wanna work and save up to get her the present".

"That's sweet of you".

"She's my mom, she deserves the best".

Julia all this while was quiet giving them the space to talk. They literally even forgot she was there. She cleared her throat to get their attention.

"Oh Julia, you're still here"? Lesley asked.

"What an insult. Of course I'm still here".

"Oh".

"Anyways I think it's time for me to get going" Rodney spoke.

"So quick"? Lesley asked.

"Yeah, I already accomplished what I came for so I think it's better if I just go".

"Ok, if you say so, thank you so much once again".

"No worries".

"I think I'll go home too".

"You too Julia"?.

"Yeah, I've got some stuffs to take care of at home. I just decided to render a little bit of my time to Rodney".

"But Julia, you could stay for some minutes, just to keep me company" Lesley said with a baby voice.

"No babe, I've gotta go, I'll chat you up later" Julia responded back pecking Lesley on the cheek.

"Ok, make sure to text me when you get home or I'll appear in your dreams tonight".

"I would love to see you in my dreams, so I could give you the best beating of your life".

"I won't appear again".

"Better"....

"Hey, Rodney".

"Oh hi Lesley".

"So are you set to go"?.

"Yeah, I'm just waiting for Nathan".

"Where's he"?.

"He's coming, he went to the restroom. What of Julia, she's not tagging along"?.

"Not really, she took my brother home and promised to stay with him till I'm back".

"Ok".

A little while, Nathan came running towards them.

"Sorry for keeping you guys waiting, we can take off now".

"Let's use my car" Rodney suggested.

"No,no, I don't wanna use your car".

"Why not"?.

"Cause I won't always be using your car to get to work, so I need to be able to find my way there alone".

"So you want us to walk all the way there"?.

"Of course, or does our Majesty find walking a big deal".

"Oh no, I don't" Nathan chimed in.

Lesley rolled her eyes.

"I was referring to Rodney not you".

"Oh".

"Wait, do you think you're a Majesty"? She said laughing.

"So Rodney can be referred as a Majesty and I cannot"?.

"I was just teasing him by calling him a Majesty, it's not that deep".

"Fine".

"That's not important right now guys" Rodney interrupted.

"If you find walking a big deal, we can at least take the bus or a taxi".

"I do not find walking a big deal, but taking a bus or taxi isn't a bad idea so I'll accept it".

"Yeah right" Lesley scoffed.

"Seems like my own opinion doesn't matter here".

"C'mon stop behaving like a baby Nathan" she poking him by the side.

"I'm just stating my mind".

Meanwhile the whole school was staring at them most especially at Lesley. She was talking to two of the hottest guys in school, and she wasn't that special, well according to them. She didn't pay much attention to it cause she didn't notice due to the conversation she was having with them. Even though she didn't notice, rumors had started spreading about and she was totally gonna hear at least one tomorrow.

They boarded a bus to their destination and Lesley was able to begin work that day.

"I'll leave her to your care" Rodney told the manager.

"No problem, she's in good hands. As far as she's good with her work, she's good to go".

"Trust me, she's really good at her work".

"I won't disappoint you sir, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity" Lesley said.

"It's alright, Rodney did put in a good word for you and I trust his judgement".

"Ok then, I think this is my cue to take off. I can come pick up Lesley after you're done".

"Just go home Rodney, I can take care of myself, I'm not a kid".

"Ok then, I'll just listen to you for today, Nathan let's go".......
