You Are Shen Yu Han's Wife

As Yu Han waited for Feng Xi to emerge from the washroom, he absently glanced at his phone, anticipation mounting. The soft click of the door signaled her return, and their gazes met.

Feng Xi proceeded to the dresser, her delicate fingers gracefully brushing through her hair. Yu Han noticed that she did not apply any makeup, and unlike Yun Xi, she was quite simple, which he liked about her.

Leaving the bed, Yu Han approached her with a purpose. As Feng Xi turned to face him, expressing her readiness, he gently shook his head and drew her attention to the array of lipstick shades adorning the dresser. His fingers settled on a delicate shade of baby pink, but when Feng Xi hesitated, he insisted.

"Why not? It'll complement your dress beautifully," Yu Han asserted, deftly uncapping the lipstick. As Feng Xi was about to protest, he placed a hushing finger on her lips. "Allow me," he murmured, before carefully applying the subtle hue to her lips. She parted them ever so slightly, a silent acknowledgment of his touch.

Yu Han noticed her neck was empty and he recalled the gift he had asked Wang Luwei to buy for Feng Xi, which he was supposed to give to her tomorrow before the wedding reception.

"Stay right here," Yu Han gently instructed before he made his way to the cupboard. With care, he retrieved the gift bag and delicately withdrew the box containing a resplendent diamond pendant. Returning to Feng Xi, he held it up for her to see. "I got this for you."

Feng Xi's eyes sparkled with delight as she beheld the exquisite pendant and instinctively reached out to touch it. "It's so beautiful," she whispered, deeply touched by Yu Han's thoughtful gesture. The fact that he had chosen such an extravagant and precious gift moved her profoundly.

"Turn around, please. Allow me to help you put it on," Yu Han offered, his voice warm and sincere.

Feng Xi did so and looked at Yu Han's reflection through the mirror. He made her wear the pendant and whispered in her ear, "You are Shen Yu Han's wife. No one can trouble you except me. I don't give anyone that right. I will make sure that Alice Yang and her family will suffer for what she said to you."

Feng Xi blinked her eyes and tilted her head. Their eyes locked for a brief moment, their lips were merely an inch apart. Yu Han moved away from her and told her to pick up her handbag as they would leave. She quickly did that and left with Yu Han.

In the car, Feng Xi kept her gaze out of the window while Yu Han had his gaze fixated on the road ahead.

"Yu Han, why was this marriage important? Why was it necessary for us to marry? Just for a promise we married each other," suddenly Feng Xi said and turned her head to look at him.

"Didn't your parents tell you? I also told you it was a promise between our grandfathers," Yu Han stated.

"Who cares for promises in this era?" Feng Xi chuckled.

"I keep the promises I give. When my grandpa passed away, his last wish was that I would be married to the Lu Family's daughter," Yu Han asserted.

Feng Xi turned quiet. His words carried the weight of a promise that he kept for his grandfather. She realized he respected his late grandfather more than anything in the world.

"Are you unhappy with me?" Yu Han asked.

"Not truly. It's difficult to say anything at this point," Feng Xi replied. After a pause, she continued, "I didn't expect you to take me out."

"I also can't believe I asked you out," Yu Han murmured and he pressed the accelerator to speed up.

Finally, they arrived at the place where they were supposed to have lunch and spend their time together. Feng Xi kept looking out of the window while Yu Han had already stepped out of the car. He opened the door for her and gestured for her to come out.

"I never knew such a place existed," Feng Xi said, looking at the surroundings, full of trees. In front of her was a restaurant made of bamboo wood. Yu Han led her way inside the restaurant.

The waiter led their way outside to the pavilion, which was situated right beside the lake. Feng Xi was mesmerized to see nature's beauty. Her mood was suddenly uplifted and she almost took out her phone from her sling bag to click the pictures.

"Have a seat, Feng Xi," Yu Han said and she turned his gaze at him. He had pulled out a chair for her. She walked up to the chair and settled on it while Yu Han pushed it forward. After her, he took his seat. The meals were presented to them all traditional Chinese dishes, which the two of them enjoyed with their heart's content.

"Feng Xi, we know nothing about each other. What do you do?" Yu Han asked as he rested the fork on the plate.

Feng Xi chewed the food before replying, "I am an art student. I will soon start my internship."

"Where did you study?" Yu Han then asked.

"Are you taking an interview of me?" Feng Xi queried.

"As your husband, I must know these basic details," Yu Han replied.

"Fudan University," Feng Xi said.

"Great!" Yu Han complimented.

"What about you?" Feng Xi curiously asked.

"I did my masters from Peking University," Yu Han answered. "So, what are your future plans? I bet you don't want to stay as a housewife," he asserted.

"I won't tell you about my plans," Feng Xi stated. She wanted to be a successful Manhua artist one day but hardly used to speak about her dream before the others. Once her internship would start, she even thought of making her own manhua.

"Did you tell Zi Xuan?" Yu Han suddenly asked.

"No. My dream is only known to me," Feng Xi affirmed and continued eating. Yu Han also resumed eating and picked up the glass of red wine to take a sip.

"Where are your parents? I never saw them. Do they live elsewhere?" Feng Xi asked.

"My dad passed away long ago… probably when I was two or three. My mom got married to another man. I have only my grandmother," Yu Han explained after taking a pause.

Feng Xi got upset to learn that. "I am sorry to learn about your father," she murmured and saw Yu Han taking a wine sip.

"It's alright. I don't even miss him," Yu Han stated with a chuckle.

"What about your mother? Where is she?" Feng Xi inquired.

"She lives in the States. Let's not talk about her," Yu Han urged. She turned quiet at his request and felt Yu Han lacked the family love. That was why the room was covered in black rather than some colorful hues.

"Yu Han, if someday you want to reduce the burden of your heart, you can come to me. I will listen to you," Feng Xi stated, leaving Yu Han perplexed. He did not say anything and wondered why she said that.
