The Romantic Proposal

On one hand, Ava was busy with her work while on the other hand, Nathan got a call from the hospital. He answered the call and a voice said, "Hello Mr. Gray, this is Dr. Barnes from the hospital, you need to hurry up and come here … There is something that I need to tell you about your daughter," with this, the call got disconnected. Listening to the phone call, Nathan panicked, thinking whether something bad had happened to Sarah.

Hurriedly, Nathan left for the hospital. After reaching the hospital, Nathan asked the doctor about Sarah, but the doctor instead of answering him asked Nathan to follow him. Seeing the doctor keeping mum, Nathan got scared and anxious, but he maintained his composure and followed him to Sarah's room.

"Dad, how are you? Did you miss me? See, I am absolutely fine now." Listening to Sarah's voice and seeing her talk, Nathan couldn't stop himself and ran to hug his daughter while crying.

Finally, Sarah had come out of a coma. Nathan was over the moon because of Sarah's recovery. With a smile plastered on his face, Nathan asked the doctor, "Doctor, How is Sarah doing? Is she fine now? Can I take her home?"

Listening to Nathan's multiple questions, the Doctor calmed him down by saying, "I can understand your excitement Mr. Gray, however, we can only discharge the patient after a week. Also, keep in mind, the patient cannot undergo any stress and that she needs utmost care."

Nathan thanked the doctor, wished Sarah goodbye, and with a happy and relaxed mind left to go back home. Finally, his loving daughter was fine.

Meanwhile...

Today was the day..!! Sean's happiness knew no bounds.

Sean was on cloud nine as he was so thrilled that finally the day for him to confess his feelings for Ava was here. That day, he even reached the venue for the party, four hours in advance, when in fact he was invited to the party as the guest of honor.

After a while, the guests started arriving at the party. Successful industrialists, businessmen, media personalities were all in attendance. Everyone wanted to meet Sean, but Sean was lost in his own thoughts to such an extent that he did not even realize how many businessmen he had already ignored. As some time had passed, Ava made her entrance to the party. Just as she walked in, all heads turned towards her, admiring her beauty. Meanwhile, Sean was getting impatient to express his feelings for Ava with every passing minute. After exchanging pleasantries with all the big personalities of the industry and after Sean's long speech as the guest of honor, the party came to an end.

Once everyone left, Sean blindfolded Ava with a black-colored cloth and led her to the roof of the building. It was a cold winter night, and the stars shimmered in the darkness as if they wanted to set the perfect mood for Sean's proposal. Ava was confused as to what Sean was doing and repeatedly kept asking, "Sean, where are you taking me? Is something wrong? Say something, please"

Listening to Ava, Sean shushed her by placing a finger on her lips and instructed, "Don't ask any questions, just follow me. I have a surprise for you."

On reaching the roof, Sean gently removed the blindfolds from Ava's eyes. Ava opened her eyes slowly anticipating what was in store for her. She was shocked to see the entire roof decorated with red roses. The roof was filled with several heart-shaped balloons with ' I love you' printed on them as they hung from the ceiling. Looking at all the red roses around her, Ava couldn't control herself and excitedly remarked, "Wow Sean, this …. This is beautiful!"

She then suddenly stopped herself and asked, "Wait a minute…. Why did you bring me here? and what is all this? Did you arrange this for me?"

Just then, Sean got on his knees, took out a small box, extended his hand, and with a gleeful smile on his face expressed, "Ava, I want to say something from my heart, so please let me talk first. Ava! the moment I met you, I felt something! There was an instant attraction. I love spending time with you. Listening to you, talking to you. ' Ava Gray!! Will you spend the rest of your life with me? I mean ….. I… I love you, Ava, will you marry me?". He opened the box and in there, was a ring engraved with the most beautiful diamond rock Ava had seen.

Listening to Sean and looking at the ring, Ava was in shock, she couldn't make sense of anything because not even in her wildest dreams had she imagined Sean Rogers, the most eligible and rich bachelor in town, to fall in love with her and get down on his knees to propose to her. She stuttered and said, "Sean …. You! I mean, you love me? seriously? actually I mean what should I say, but YES!

Hearing Ava's answer, Sean was overjoyed, he gave her a tight hug. Ava on one hand was very happy because of the proposal but at the same time was worried about her career. They spent a little time with each other on the roof and later Sean dropped her at her house. Ava told everyone the good news once she reached home.

Sean lived with his mom, dad, younger sister, and grandmother in their mansion. Sean's mother, Mrs. Grace Rogers was a woman of substance. Sean shared the news with his mother, "Mom, finally I revealed my feelings to the girl I love and proposed to her for marriage and she said yes."

Mrs. Rogers, seeing her son happy exclaimed, "Really! Congrats son! Did you tell the rest of our family about this? By the way, when are you letting us meet her and what's her name? Where does she live? What does she do?"

Looking at his mother getting all curious, Sean just smiled and responded, "Patience mom, I will soon give you all the details and I promise I will let you meet your future daughter in law, very soon"

Hearing their conversation, Sean's dad Vincent joined in the excitement as well.

A few days later, Sean invited Ava to his house to introduce her to his family. Ava greeted everyone respectfully and lovingly because of which his entire family was impressed by her.

However, Ava had something else running on her mind, which was contrary to what she was displaying in her behavior towards Sean's family. One week later, Sarah got discharged from the hospital but the doctor instructed her to visit the hospital for her routine checkup. The smile on Sarah's face reflected how happy she was to go back home. On her way back, she inquisitively asked questions about her stepmother Sophie and step-sister Ava. She was thrilled to learn about Ava's news. A short drive later, Sarah and Nathan reached home.

On reaching, Nathan asked Sarah to go to her room and get some rest. Sophie stood outside Sarah's door and was observing everything from a distance. After a while, someone rang the doorbell and Sophie went to open the door. As she opened the door, Sophie stood still.

Hearing the bell, Nathan also came out of his room and asked, "Who is it, Sophie? And why are you standing at the door like that?" Sophie, without answering, invited the guests inside the house.

After seeing the guests, Nathan was also shocked. He asked, "Sir, you…in my house….without any notice…is everything okay?"

Mrs. Rogers answered, "Everything is fine, it's just that we wanted to discuss something very important with your family. That's why we came over."

Seeing Mr. and Mrs. Rogers in his house, Nathan was anxious as well as nervous. Mr. Rogers could clearly see Nathan's worried expression and said, "Mr. Gray, no need to worry. You have been working with us for such a long time, we respect your faithfulness and work ethic and find your humble nature very impressive. We are sure it's what you have taught your daughter as well. Our children have decided to get married. We are here to discuss that.

Nathan, after listening to Vincent got a little confused as to whom he was referring to and hastily asked, "My daughter? But sir, does your son even know my daughter? and marriage? whose marriage. We haven't heard of any such thing.

Grace answered, "Yes, my son likes your daughter Ava and they know each other very well." They want to get married.

The first thought that came across Nathan's mind was of Sarah's. Before he could say anything, Sophie readily agreed to their relationship.

Nathan took Sophie aside, to their room and said, "Is this really a good idea? You are well aware of the difference in our status compared to them. I have worked on several projects with Rogers Group but this is about our daughter."

Overhearing Nathan, Vincent retorted, "So what! if both the kids like each other, then we should support them! shouldn't we? Also, we have met Ava and we too like her very much."

Listening to Vincent, Nathan agreed to the wedding. Sophie requested the Rogers family to choose a date for the wedding as soon as possible.

"We have already decided the date and it is the last day of the month" replied Mrs. Rogers with excitement. Vincent has to go on a business trip next month and we want to have the wedding before he leaves."

Nathan looked at Sophie and exchanged agreement for the date. After chatting with each other for a while, they left.

After they were gone, Sophie went straight to Sarah's room and began talking, "Sarah, Ava is getting married and that too with one of the huge business tycoons of the country. She will have to meet and greet the rich and affluent and as a matter of fact, a lot of them will be attending the wedding as well, and which is why, I don't want you to participate in anything related to this wedding." Sarah was happy hearing the news about Ava's wedding, however, being asked not to attend the wedding was something that came as a shock to her. Despite her disappointment, Sarah did not utter a single word and with a heavy heart agreed to Sophie's instructions.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Ava was chilling with her friends in a café. Sam and some other friends were with her when she gave them the news about her wedding, "Guys, I have some big news! I'm getting married to Sean Rogers" informed Ava.

Hearing Sean's name, everyone was taken by surprise.

Looking at their shocked expressions, Ava exclaimed, "Guys! there is no need to be so shocked! I know I am lucky to be his wife but he too is very lucky to find someone like me. ... don't you'll agree? And yes, our wedding is on the last day of this month and all of you have to be there."

Hearing the news about Ava's wedding, all her friends were still in shock when Ava's friend, Ruby congratulated her, "Congrats on your wedding girl! Of course, we'll be there. We are your friends, who else besides us would celebrate with you."

All of Ava's friends were extremely happy with her news except for Sam who kept quiet throughout. Noticing this, Ava asked, "What is the matter, Sam? Are you not happy for me?"

Sam was extremely concerned about Ava's career and so he replied, "I am very happy for you but I'm concerned for your career because according to the Rogers family history, a woman cannot have her own career. Besides, you have just started and are going to get married so soon. ... Do you know, in a few days, there is a contest being held for supermodels? It's a tough competition …..all the famous and experienced models from all over the world are gonna be participating in it ….. if once you take part in this competition, you are gonna achieve great success"

Listening to Sam's words Ava fell silent and after hanging out for a while everyone left. Ava kept thinking about what Sam had mentioned that entire night. She did not understand what she was supposed to do.
