Tall Cats

Jones slammed the door to a tavern wide open. Surprisingly nobody in the tavern paid any attention to the loud door slam. On Jones's arms was a writhing Najimi who kicked and pushed trying to get out Jones's solid grip.

The people in the taverns both players and NPCs ignored the commotion Jones and Najim were making as if it had happened multiple times and they were just used to it.

There were a good number of players entering WOW at this point, most of them had been playing WOW since it came out and were now finally getting into the real world. Most of the players ran out to grind during the day and rested during the night or went to sleep. Overall it was a very exciting time for the players they were the pioneers of the world finding new things left and right and exploring the new game mechanics in the world.

New classes had been the big rumor that was circulating through the country, apparently one of the experts called TriumphantPioneer who came to this world earlier had gotten a rare ranked class, (great explorer).

The player TriumphantPioneer had been exploring the world of WOW the moment he stepped into it and had been writing out the basics and the general information of the world for new players. He generously posted the information onto the web making his image in the player's mind much greater.

There were more famous figures such as EliteTortoise who had been finding resources and treasures in the open sea and Squid boy who had become a well know mage.

The famous squid boy who was praised as a skills mage in WOW was actually Jones who took on Jason's old username.

Some people connected the dots Jason had left and were quick to assume that both of the Squidboys were the same.

Some of the admiration the people had towards Jones and some of his exploits manifested into points for Jason, which was great as it was another avenue of points for him.

Jones dragged Najimi up the stairs of the tavern to the second floor where the private rooms were.

He kicked open another door with the picture of a tall cat inscribed on it and walked in with an irritated scowl on his face.

He chucked Najimi to where a red couch with plump cushions sat. Najimi fell into the couch without resisting though he did spin himself in midair to make sure he fell into the perfect comfortable position.

In the middle of the private room was a clean wooden table with its edges rounded and polished in a good shine.

Sitting on the table was the rest of the tall cats guild or at least the club that Jason was in a long time ago.

There was the red-haired Aiden who wore a metallic warriors amour and a simple iron sword like Jason's on his waist, he was giveng Mika a glare while Mika reciprocated by spitting at his feet. She had a rangers garb on and a clean white bow with tree inscriptions on it, the calm Gabriel had a poor shield with dirty red paint on his back, he looked just like a certain shield bearing person who was silent and rose, knight trainee. Luna who was sipping tea elegantly like usual with an elegant dress that must have cost a few silvers and a witches hat, Masuda was standing up looking at a map while pushing up his glasses constantly as he stared at the map with a shoulder guard and sword on his waist.

Jones collapsed on one of the chairs while giving Najimi a glare that said "don't move or ill kill you"

He then looked at the rest of the group and said in an annoyed tone

"I had to drag him out of a fight with 10 kobolds he barely survived"

Najimi popped up from his laying down position and said in a chipper voice

"But I did survive!"

Jones retorted

"barely, if I was a few seconds late you would have lost a ton of levels and gear from dying!"

Najimi avoided Jones's gaze as he coughed awkwardly and then returned to his laying down position on the couch.

Masuda said to Jones who was on the verge of chucking Najimi out of the window.

"calm down Jones remember that he was the one who brought us 5 gold"

Jones simmered down as he remembered the scene where Najimi handed over 5 gold coins and then walked away laughing at the tall cat's stunned expression.

They still didn't know where Najimi got the 5 gold coins and honestly, Jones didn't want to know there was probably something shady since seeing 1 gold coin was enough to spark a war in the player base. Let along 5 of them.

The tall cats still had no idea how Najimi got the coins, and Najimi didn't mention how he got it either.

The tall cats had been silently working on gathering enough gold coins to officially become a guild, once they became a guild they could actually start recruiting people.

Luna checked her inventory balance carefully, even with her family backing her up in buying in mass silver coins. She currently had only 15 gold coins not even close to the 50 gold coins that were required to make a guild.

Luna gnawed on her nails, it was something very inelegant but it was a bad habit she got when she was nervous. Corporations were noticing the value of WOW, and after seeing that the MH company had suddenly become almost untouchable after the incident with the government, the corporations decided to invest in the payers themselves.

Some of the corporations didn't believe in any of the nonsense in the game saying that it was just a game and would always be one. Others decided to put a slight amount of money into making an elite team like an esports team or something.

Speaking of elites Luna sighed as she remembered the person who was formerly in the gaming club, one of the best players she had ever seen with her own eyes. He had steadily grown while he was in the gaming club until he beat people like Masuda who had been playing games competitively his entire life.

She shook her head in self spite

She couldn't believe that she let him not go to school, the only place she was in contact with him, of course, she knew where he lived but it was too awkward for her to just walk up to him and just tell him to join the tall cats again though he had an honorary position it could only do so much for her. Perhaps it would stop Jason from being hostile with the tall cats guild, but she wanted more. She wanted Jason to become her subordinate.

Luna sighed to herself and looked at Masuda who was looking at a map of the city and its surrounding hunting grounds and possible parts that would have lots of monsters. She smilled to herself as she watched him diligently do his task.

Every heir to her family was provided with a servant in childhood. That servant would grow up with the heir and become his or her advisor and right-hand person. Masuda was Luna's and he was the best servant in her opinion.

In the succession battle for the seat of the true heir of the family. Luna and Masuda had stood at the top after a lengthy battle.

She was now the undisputed heir of her family. It was a good thing, but now she had the responsibility and honour of her family on her shoulders also.

She said in a crisp and commanding voice to Masuda

"how many experts have we found?"

Masuda answered quickly and curtly

"We have a group of 40 that have been chosen"

Luna looked at Masuda seriously

"Are they willing to join us?"

Masuda nodded

Jones joined Masuda in looking at the map. He said in a quiet voice

"I know that we have big plans for the guild, but we need to gather enough money first. There are numerous groups of people who are pooling their money together to make a guild that is hundreds of times bigger than us."

Jones smilled and looked into the sky while saying softly

"that's probably why Jason recommended us to this country in the first place, the merchant country. Where wealth pools and is spent."

Jones looked at everyone in the room again, the arguing Mika and Aiden, Gabriel who was trying to calm both of them down.

Luna and Masuda who were still talking about the best hunting grounds and Masuda who was...

Wait where was he?

Cold sweat covered Jones's back and he looked at the door which was wide open with a note at the foot of the door.

Jones picked it up and saw a smiley face sticking its tongue out at him. Jones crumbled the paper and ran down the stairs. With a pissed off expression on his face.
