CHAPTER 13

Lucas Bradford Pov:

After leaving Isla house I went to Mr. Brown's mansion because he called me so. I made my way inside the marvelous mansion indicating all the blood and sweat of his hard work. Always the good people are tested by god.

I went towards his Office, because I know all the nook and corner of this mansion because I almost stay here like its my own house because I consider Mr. Brown as my dad and even he consider me as his son and everything is different when it is about business....business in the sense Isla.

I don't like entering into business that's the reason why I left my dad's company. I always wanted to become an investigator and Mr. Brown was helping me achieve it. My actual father was not supportive of my decision so i just left my home.

I knocked on the door and a hoarse 'come in' echoed behind the door. I made myself inside and smiled at him.

"Long time no see big boy", he said to me and I nodded at him as I made my way towards him and hugged him.

"I missed you dad", I call him dad because he said me to. He was actually the father which everyone dream of and now i am his son which makes me the happiest person. I never experienced love from my dad because he was always busy with his business trips.

"Same here even i missed you too and as well as ...Isla", he said and i just sighed at this as he broke the hug.

"Does she remember anything from that day, like what happened after that accident", He asked with hope in his eyes and I just shook my head.

"She only remember about fainting due to lose of blood after they kidnapped her and when she think about that she gets a sharp pain in her head", i said to him as he sighed and pursed his lips to stop himself from crying.

"Dad, I am sure she will remember you after some days we just have to hope for the best than for the worst", I said to him. He nodded.

"Is there something suspicious happening? Like... Something which never happened in the span of three years", he asked me and I shook my head. There wasn't anything suspicious going on but she talked about a friend today.

"It's not quite suspicious but she had made a new friend yesterday in her cafe", I said to him as he nodded his head.

"I know it's not a friend, she only wants me to not worry about her..... In another words, She is pretending that she got a friend so that i could stop worrying about her", i said to him and he smiled at me.

"I see the Young boy has become intelligent and using his mind more. I am glad you are becoming an investigator which is a best thing that a person with a mind like yours can do", he said to me and I smiled at his compliment. 

"I am glad about it. So, dad when are you planning to meet Isla?", i asked him as i was curious about it. 

"I guess she would know that i am here since the news is trending on internet but she doesn't remember me as her father so maybe it will take time", he said as i nodded in agreement.

"Lucas, i want you to be with her wherever she is, I can't see my daughter which is in front of my eyes getting hurt because i can't bear the pain twice", he said to me with her hands on my shoulder. Who knew that the richest man can become so emotional over his adopted daughter.

"I'll be sure about it dad, she is too precious for me to let anything happen to her", i said to her as suddenly today's incident caught up in my mind.

"I followed her where her new friend took her and he took her to that place. The place where me, Isla and Mr. Wilson's son used to play", i said to him and he nodded.

"I wasn't able to look at his face as he was facing his back towards me. But there is nothing suspicious about him. But the fun part was that, when they started going in their car i had to ride my bicycle so fast that i was afraid that the chain might get broken", i laughed as he laughed with me.

"I made my way into her house because i have the keys so i was panting a lot, i hope she didn't notice that", i said to him as i shook my head.

"Having fun even in this situation i see", he said to me as he let out a chuckle.

"What about the papers? Are they kept hidden in her place safely?", he asked me as his expression turned into a serious one.

"Yes dad, no need to worry about that. The papers are kept in a safe place which even Chaerin didn't know", i said to him. It feels good to chat with him after a long time. It's like all the feelings are getting into me simultaneously.

Happiness because of seeing him again, Sad because he had to go through this, afraid because of their plan and many more which i can't figure out easily. The man who was always good to others had to go through these things. I can't understand why he is still doing this when Chaerin was someone who he had just ADOPTED.

It's not like i am complaining but everything just feel so confusing, have to ask him these questions when all these things are over.

"I'm sure he will be shocked when he realises that he his being played in his own game", he said to me

"I'm sure about that", i said as i just nodded at him. He and his mind, no wonder he is the richest.

"Okay dad, i have to leave now", i said to him as he nodded and gave me a small smile, mumbling a small take care behind.

I left the place as soon as i can when i remembered something..... A change in Jungkook's behaviour. It has been a day since he became friends with Chaerin and damn there is a change in him.

He just pretends to be tough when actually he's just a small and kind baby inside. I've known him since we were kids and even i couldn't help him when he was stuck up with womanising shit with Mr. Kim. No one knows about that old man's hidden business which is to sell men and get money except dad, me and Jungkook offcourse. There will be a day where he had to pay for all his wrong doings and that's for sure.
