Chapter 5_ You need to go out on dates

Laura went to her station after coming back. Everyone was surprised to see her walk in with a scarlet beauty shopping bag.

" Laura, why are you holding a scarlet beauty shopping bag," Jane asked

"Oh you mean this ? They gave it to me as a thank-you gift". she replied

" What..". They all echo

"You mean scarlet beauty gave you this, let me see what's inside". Kate said while bringing out what was inside the bag.

"Oh my God" Kate exclaims while looking at the beautiful white gown in her hands.

"Girl you need to tell me what happened I mean everything in detail". Kate inquire. Laura told everyone what happened and they were all Looking at her with glittery eyes.

"So you mean you model for them. Oh my goodness I'm so happy for you". Kate was excited for her friend.

"I think she's lying, maybe she bought it with all her life savings if it will even be enough". Jane said.

" You can just see it for yourself If you don't believe me". Laura said while taking out her phone to show them the pictures she took. "Do you believe me now?" Laura said feeling excited. Jane just shut up and went back to her desk. And they all went back to their duties.

After work, Laura went back home. She was surprised when saw Noel at home.

"Aren't you supposed to be on the night shift today?" Laura asked her brother.

"Yes but, I took a day off to celebrate my sister's first day at work". Noel said feeling proud of his little sister. "Tell me how was your first day".

"It was amazing I get to model for scarlet beauty". "whoa.... Wait a minute modeling you say, how come. I thought you were in the IT department". Noel cut her off.

"I was, I mean not really". Laura narrated what happened to her brother. Even showed him the dress. Noel just sat down Looking surprised for some time.

"Ok forget about that. Let's just celebrate. I made your favorite dishes come let's eat".

A few hours later Laura is lying on her bed smiling wondering how her first day turned out to be the most memorable day of her life. Thinking about it just made her feel like, she can do anything. After a few minutes, she drifts off to sleep.

"While are you back home this late . You will work yourself to death if you keep doing this. Please make him understand Nathan". She said while looking at Nathan Jason's friend for help.

"Mom it's ok nothing will happen to me". Jason walked to his mother and pulled her into a tight hug.

"Ok let me ask the butler to prepare dinner for you. Look how skinny you are. No let me do it myself". She then hurries to the kitchen to prepare the food.

"What are you doing here at this hour?". He asked Nathan his friend while climbing the stairs to his room and Nathan followed him behind.

"Why? I'm not allowed to visit you anymore?" Nathan replied while closing the door to Jason's room and walked straight to the couch at the side of the room and sat down. "So how was your day have you found a replacement for Samuel? And I heard the new IT students resumed today how are they?" Nathan started asking him questions.

"They are fine if that's what you want to know and one of them is taking Samuel's place for now". Then he flashed back to the moment he saw Laura in the blue gown. the moment their eyes meant. It felt as if he was being drawn into them like a magnet. Her blue eyes and her innocent appearance were all he could think about.

"You mean your new assistant is an IT student ? How will he be able to do anything when he has no experience". Nathan explained.

"Think she did just fine on her own". Jason replied.

"Whoa... Hold on a moment did you just say she?" Asked Nathan. "Yes and what's wrong with it".

"Nothing." He said shaking his head. It was visible that he wants to say something but, he just kept it to himself. "Can you at least tell me her name?"

"It's Laura. Laura Jones I think". Jason replied while sitting at the edge of the bed.

'Don't tell me you can't even remember her name".

"I just told you her name it's Laura didn't I ?" Jason argued. "Now tell me the real reason you're here".

"No reason I just wanted to see you. Well, It's looks like I don't need to do anything anymore". Nathan said.

" And what do you mean by that?" Jason asked. Before Nathan could Reply a knock came at the door. Interrupting them. When the door opened a maid came inside.

"Dinner is ready sir". The maid said.

"Ok, we're coming". Jason replied. They went downstairs to the dining room. Mrs Hughes Jason's mother was already there waiting for them.

They both sat down and Jason started eating his meal without saying anything. Meanwhile, Jason's mother and Nathan were communicating with each other with their eyes. Nathan was signing her to say the words. After a few seconds, Mrs. Hughes cleared her throat.

"Ehhmm, Jason when are you going to like.. get married you know, no pressure". Mrs Hughes said.

"Mom, you can't be bringing up this matter every time we're together".

"It's not as if we are asking you to get married now. We just want you to at least go on dates".His mother said.

"We? So that is the reason why you called Nathan". Jason was not surprised.

"You used to be joyful and a happy boy, please don't let what happened take away your happiness. it's been three years already. you have to live your life. Please my son you're the only one I have left". She started weeping uncontrollably.

"Mom. please stop that you know I hate seeing you cry". Jason tried to coat her.

"Then do this for your mother. I'm not forcing you to get married now. you can decide that later but, I want you to go out with someone and be happy that's all I asked of you. Can you do that for me Please?"

He hate seeing her that way, it broke his heart to see her cry. So he had no choice but to accept his fate.

"Yes Mom I will do it if that's what will make you happy. Please stop crying now. I don't want to see you cry for anything". Then he stood up and walked around the table to hug her. Nathan was there looking at them.
