Chapter 8

Jayed was trailing behind the [Earth Turtle] with steady footsteps making sure to not alert the guardian.

Meanwhile the [Earth Turtle] kept going, by now even he was starting to wonder how so many delicious fruits dropped suddenly.

Well whatever.

He was a simple turtle anyway.

I see food, I eat!

That was his life moto.

Nothing more nothing less

Unknowingly the [Earth Turtle] made it's way towards a silent lake.

The lake would have been a beautiful tourist spot if not for the puddle of blood which could be seen on its surface.

The [Earth Turtle] ate the fruit in front of him them raised his head to look at the one in front only to freeze in place...

Instead of the delicious fruit, what greeted him were a pair of snake like eyes, staring at him from inside the lake.

Alarm bells rank out in the [Earth Turtle]'s head as he tried to back off.

But how could the [Water Serpent] let go of this prey which just invaded it's territory.

Especially after it was grievously injured by that detestable Wolf.

*Hiss*

A blue light flashed as a giant serpent suddenly jumped out of the lake and entangled the [Earth Turtle] in a death hold.

*Roar*

An angry roar came iut if the [Earth Turtle]'s mouth as he harshly bite down on the [Water Serpent]'s body with his terrible jaw power.

*Screech*

Jayden was calmly looking at the scene of utter carnage taking place in front of him.

If it was the normal him then he would have been feeling horrified by now, the scene was just way too bloody.

But having this half-dead body helped him gain some immunity towards these bloody scenes.

The fight continued for almost an hour.

*Bam*

With a loud sound the Water Serpent's mangled body fell down at the shore.

The Earth Turtle was tightly biting down on Water Serpent's neck using his monstrous bite force.

[Ding]

Jayden quickly stored the blue coloured rock in his pocket and carefully started observing the Eath Turtle.

The Earth Turtle was still biting down on the dead Water Serpent's neck, perhaps it wanted to make sure that the serpent was dead.

Jayden looked at the bloody hole on the Earth Turtle's back.

The Earth Turtle didn't come out of the fight unscathed either, a major portion of the hard shell covering it's back was broken off by the Water Serpent.

Jayden could see a lump of flesh inside the bloody opening moving up and down rhythmically.

Looking at the exposed mass of flesh he unknowingly clenched the steel spear in his hand.

It was now or never.

With the best speed he could muster, Jayden quickly ran towards the Earth Turtle.

Unfortunately the area was in the open so he could only run forwards with his greatest speed.

Maybe it was because the Earth Turtle was in a state of extreme anger as he didn't notice Jayden running towards him and kept biting down on the Water Serpent's lifeless body.

It seems like it's hatred for the Water Serpent was quite deep.

Tightly holding onto the spear, Jayden climed on the Earth Turtle's back and before the latter could react he fiercely stabbed down the spear on the exposed organ.

*Screech*

The Earth Turtle started shaking violently making the spear go even deeper.

Blood gushed out like a fountain and covered Jayden's face, but he kept holding onto the spear with his dear life refusing to let go.

If he were to fall now then the Earth Turtle will no doubt bite him in half.

*Screech*

Finally it looked like the Earth Turtle was loosing strength as it slowly stopped struggling before coming to a complete halt.

*Thud*

It's giant body powerlessly fell down beside the Water Serpent.

[Ding]

Jayden grabbed the item before jumping off the Earth Turtle's back.

He managed to kill the guardian unfortunately now he was cover in blood from head to toe.

Due to his half dead body Jayden didn't feel repulsed by the smell, but still he decided to wash up in the lake before going forward.

Having cleaned himself, Jayden took a look at his remaining time.

With the curse of half dead on his head, Jayden had no time to waste and so he quickly started running towards the giant mountain in the distance.

It was where he would fond the last guardian.

Strongest out of the four beasts, the beast of fire, Phoenix.

Jayden remembered the details about the guardian as he ran through the lush forest.

It was simply impossible to beat the beast of fire at this stage.

And that was from the player's point of view, players were heaven's chosen and thus had stats multiple times that of a starting NPC.

And Jayden was worse than a slime....

Even in the game's popular days there wasn't a single player who managed to slay the phoenix in the first trial.

Because it is simply an impossible task.

So here's a question.

How do you beat a monster with the size of a small mountain, able to breath out fire and unable to be damaged by physical attacks with a spear?

The answer is.....

You don't.

That is why you have to use the back gate...

Jayden stopped and looked up at the giant mountain which seemed endless.

Now comes the hard part.

'I have never climbed a mountain before...'

The corners of Jayden's mouth couldn't help but twitch.

He knew how to climb trees but a mountain.....

Let's just say there is a first time for everything.

Looking at the decreasing timer, Jayden didn't have much choice anyway.

So he started climbing.

And miraculously he managed to climb up in one go!!!

Not.

He didn't.

He fell before even reaching half the height...

Jayden had a profound expression on his face as he stared at his rib bone which has pierced through his chest.

'...Should I push it back?.....'

*Crack*

'It broke....'
