Lumberjack

After Raising his intelligence stat to 20 Ulric gathered and cooked a few more eggs to sell and decided to take a little break, he found a rock that was nice and smooth and sat down, although it couldn't compare to the real world, it was a pretty nice view with the lake on one side and the forest on the other, the lake was calm and the forest was odd..... wait odd?

He stood and took a few steps closer, something was off about the trees on the outside of the forest but he wasn't sure what, they didn't look quite right, as he continued to stare a rabite hopped a bit close to one and quick as a flash a branch sot out and grabbed it and pulled it in, he couldn't see what happened to it but a few seconds later the branch assumed it's previous position and the rabite didn't reappear.

Ulric approached the 'tree' but he couldn't see a monster, there was no name-tag above it, after close examination he still couldn't find it, as an experiment he threw a punch at the tree, immediately it sprung to life with the sound of snapping twigs and wood, it creaked towards him swinging it's sharpened thorns, he dodged several swipes but one hit him, the damage was not too bad his high defense negating the damage, he tried to grab it but it just grabbed him back twisting vines around him trying to bind him, he tried to break free but his strength was too low it slowly began to tie him down, his legs had been bound faster and he toppled over, his left arm quickly became bound to his body and he grabbed at the things leg to try and trip it so maybe he could get free, at the back of the creatures leg was a single long vine that Ulric's hand closed around by accident, he pulled and it snapped, the creature made an agonized screech and the vines binding him started to die and snap, he scrabbled to his feet and backed away, the creature was going from a deep green to a light brown making creaking sounds and reaching for the dropped vine,

"no you don't that was too close" Ulric rushed forward and got the creature in a headlock and with enough twisting 'CRACK' the head come off and the body dropped to the floor dead.

He dropped the head and sat down, although his health was almost unchanged, that fight was draining, he looked at the monster 'Ambush Ent' it's name said, makes sense it seemed to be an ambush type monster, at least he found it's weakness once the cord between it and the tree was snapped it lost a lot of health and it's power dropped, he turned to the body and looked at it, well there is no meat to collect, and it's a tree not a vegetable, it also has no fruit, so what can he gather from it? as the light moved with the swaying of the tree something glittered on it, Ulric bent down and carefully scooped the substance into a cup for a closer look:

Sap? can this be cooked? he wracked his brain sap, sap hmm, wait couldn't you boil sap to get syrup? might as well try it:

acquired: 1 syrup

+1 dex

Dex? ok something else he didn't have already, he drank the syrup, it actually slid down his throat quite nicely, although that was the only sensation, but the difference was immediate, he could now see these Ent's hiding places and now he knew how to kill them.
