Coldstone

Ulric turned to face the new threat, but all he saw was a wall of black rusty metal rushing at him, he crossed his arms to block the attack and was sent flying 30 meters landing hard in the sand, his hp dropped to 12%, this thing hit hard!

He turned to see what hit him, it was a massive Kame with armor made out of rusty metal and spiked shells, it's head was too big for it's body but not enough to throw it off balance, when it opened it's mouth the rotted teeth and breath smelled like rotten fish stale water and baked seaweed, in it's hand was a misshapen lump of metal that it was using as a club, it gurgled angrily and ran at him, he head no idea what to do and just stood there, suddenly a shadow shot past him, a woman in miss-matched armor wielding a large bronze sword which clashed against the boss.She glanced at Ulric,

"Bloody Noob, if your gonna spawn a field boss don't drop your guard!!"

"Wait, I did this?!"

"oh wow, you really are a noob, i'll tank it, you dps ok?"

"you'll tank it and i'll dp???"

"oh wow, i'll keep it busy, you hit it! SIMPLE ENOUGH?!"

"oh ok, that i can do,"

She kept it busy, using skills that stunned it and blinded it, while Ulric pounded it's side with punches and kicks, evey now and again she would pull out a potion and drink it, as the fight wore on Ulric learned some of her moves, he saw her stance when she would knock it back and stun it for a few seconds, when she did that he sent a hard kick at the back of it's leg, it worked wonders, as it was knocked back and stunned his kick caused it to fall, the status vulnerable appeared next to it's name, the woman seeing this leaped into the air and her sword was covered with a red aura while looking like it was dripping blood, she brought the sword point down into the boss's chest, and it's hp dropped to zero, Ulric sat down hard, that was the hardest fight he'd had in a long time.

After a minute of him sitting there she spoke up,

"aren't you gonna loot it? you did spawn it after all," she asked a little surprised

Ulric shook his head, "I couldn't have killed it, you did all the work, so you get all the reward, i'm just glad it didn't kill me,"

She watched him carefully as she looted it, and when he just sat there as she took a nice chest slot armor she was surprised, she immediately equipped it so it became owned by her, it was then she realized something, this was not a field boss, it was a quest boss, it didn't de-spawn after being looted, so it must be for his quest since she didn't have a quest at the moment, meaning that she had no real claim to the loot at all and yet he let her have it.

"Um, i think this is a quest boss, you should try looting it," she told him,

"oh? a quest boss?, that new, i'll take a look," he got up and looked at the boss,

The inventory was empty, there was no items left, Ulric was confused shouldn't a quest monster drop something relevant if it isn't the object of the quest? he asked the woman about this and she told him maybe he could gather from it some quests required you to harvest from the boss, botanists had to gather from plant monsters to complete their quests so maybe this was the same?

Ulric thought about it and tried using butchery on it, a notification appeared,

Condition met, butchery skill up, new skill Extraction acquired.

Extraction? ok something else new, might as well give it a try, he used the skill and his hand lifted above the dead monster, a white energy rose off the body and gathered in his hand, the body then de-spawned,

Acquired 1 unstable elemental essence,

Ulric knew what to do next, he had to summon lee to carry on his class quest, he turned and began to head back to the city, saying thank-you and goodbye to the woman when she moved before him,

"wait, um, can i friend you?" she asked unsure,

"uh, sure i don't mind," he accepted the request,

"what class are you?"

"oh, um, I punch things mainly," he blabbed lamely

"oh you're a Boxer, that's not a bad starter, you should go for martial artist after that, they go well together, i have to be off so i'll see you later, by the way my name is Coldstone and i'm a tank, if your heading into a dungeon give me a call," she said before hurrying off,

After she had gone he facepalmed, 'I punch things?', sheesh.
