Chapter 31

~Zayne Beckett~

Carter and Nadia escorted me inside my home. I could've barely seen clearly at this point and every word that was said sounded blurry. All I knew was that my mom was worried just from the tone in her voice.

Mom took over for Nadia before she and Carter led me to my room. On our way up, I almost tripped on a step. Thankfully Carter had pulled me back before I could've. They laid me down on my bed and my Mom examined me. I looked over her shoulder to see Nadia and Aurora by the door, looking on.

"Alright, whew..." My Mom sighed, helping me realize I got back my senses. "He's not paralyzed, just weakened. How were you drugged?"

"Some guy... held me down and–" I swallowed, "–stabbed a needle in my neck."

"Why were you out there in the first place?"

I stared at my Mom and glanced at Aurora. I stayed silent. My Mom nodded and got up to face them. "The guests are having dinner if you three want to eat now."

"I'm not leaving Zayne," Carter said firmly.
