Ch 32 - Politics (7)

Running down the streets I realize just how dangerous the method of practicing dark magic is.

I end up losing a sense of time.

Both times I attempted it I was 'woken up' by someone. The first being from the doctor and the second just now from that man.

'I should make sure someone is near me the next time I practice,' I say to myself.

'The last thing I want is to be stuck like that for years or even end up staying like that till I die,' I conclude.

'The sun already rose meaning that Julia was most likely waiting on me,' I figure as I apply wind magic to increase my speed.

Dashing down the road passing people for a couple of minutes something catches my attention.

'She was right,' I say as I come to a stop.

To my left was a huge sign in big blue and gold letters that said 'Velvet Resort'.

Changing direct I head towards the building.

As I get closer I see just how impressive it is.

The building is completely made of stone and even has some beams that support it. Which are made of a different material.

It's five stories tall and has security.

Intrigued I approach the guards that were outside the building.

"Halt!" One of the shouts.

"What's your name?"

"Noah" I state plainly.

"Noah…?" The second guard asks stretching out the length of my name.

"Yeah, Noah" I respond weirded out by his behavior.

'The guards aren't stopping me or questioning me or belittling me because I'm a kid like Sun. So I don't really have anything against them and they seem more confused than frustrated by my appearance,' I determine actually interested in what they want rather than annoyed.

"What's your last name?" The first guard asked.

"My last name? Uhh, I don't know?" I respond unknowingly.

'I don't ever remember having a last name now that I think about it,' I reminisce.

"Then who's your father," The guard asked in turn.

"What does that have to do with getting in the hotel?" I say unwilling to bring any attention to Christopher.

"We need to know who's child you are to confirm your residence," The second guard explains.

"My parents aren't living in the hotel. I'm here to meet with someone," I answer.

"Meet with someone? Who could be possibly be meeting with?" The guard asked confused.

"The fatty," I say now starting to get annoyed that they were underestimating me.

"The fatty?"

"Hahaha."

"What's this brat on about Bill?"

"He's obviously not the son of noble or else he would have a last name."

"Yeah, he must just be some commoner trying to get in. Doesn't he know that the resort is under the empire's jurisdiction?" They conclude by going back and forth.

"Listen I'm here to meet with Julia and the fatty. I'm starting to get tired of this town's incompetence. So just let me in," I state.

"Who do you think you-"

"Wait you're with Julia?" The first guard interrupts.

"I already told you," I say damn near ready to put a hole through his body.

"My apologies Noah. We weren't informed about your… age. Please forgive my partner and I. You can go on in to the far left is a man who will guide you to the room where Julia and Brandon Hue are staying," The guard said with a sight bow.

"Seems like Julia learned her lesson," I mumble as I brush past the second guard and enter the hotel.

However, before entering I could hear the first guard shouting at the second just as the doors closed.

Looking around at the interior of the building I conclude that it is the nicest I've yet to see in this world.

It was much more fancier than the Hall not to mention bigger. And it wasn't even comparable to the houses I've lived in.

There weren't that many people wandering around so I figured that most people would just stay in their rooms.

The decorations were plain and rich-like yet they suited the place.

After taking another moment to look around I decided to make my way over to my escort.

Turning to the left I see a man all the way in the far corner figuring that he was the man I need to meet with I went in his direction.

Upon approaching him I realized just how big he was. He wasn't big like the fatty but rather extremely muscular.

By the time I arrived in front of him he was practically towering over me.

I was only around 3ft 7in (109.2 cm) while this man was about 6ft 9in (205.74 cm). He was the tallest man I've met. The average height only seemed to be around 6ft (182.88 cm).

Being a little more than half the man's height I was not intimidated at all.

In fact, it was the other way around.

Shaking.

The giant of a man was shaking before me.

"Hello," I say with a tilt of my head.

The man doesn't respond and looks as if he was face to face with a dragon.

"You are supposed to take me to Julia and the fatty right?" I question.

But as seconds pass the man doesn't even dare to move let alone respond to my question.

"Look I'm getting tired of this service that so many places offer. I'm done with all these people looking down on me. So I'm only going to ask this one more time. Take. Me. To. Julia."

This seemed to finally break the man free and pull him back into reality.

"Follow," The man whispers turning around to speed walking off.

"Finally," I mutter before chasing after him.

After climbing all the flights of stairs we arrive at the top floor.

However, there was another holdup.

There was an extreme amount of security blocking anyone from getting in.

The security guard that was escorting me pulled out a red card from inside his pocket and handed it to one of the men standing out the entrance.

Then that man passed it on to another man. Once he confirmed something on it the guards moved away and allowed us to enter.
