Initiation

"Cough!" "Cough!"

Riken coughed every time he took a breath, he slowly adjusted and stopped coughing, That's when he noticed that everyone was gone, he was in a place that was illuminated by a red ominous and foreboding moon.

"ZACK ZACK!"

Riken shouted in search for some human life of something human in this desolate and barren island with no life. Riken drew a sharp breath and again shouted,

"ZACK, STOP PLAYING AROUND AND COME OUT NOW!"

He coughed and hacked, he strained his larynx this time, all that shouted seemed to only bring Riken more and more pain in his heart. He heard the sound of massive and numerous footsteps, without thinking he ran to the source and smiled before opening his eyes.

He stopped in his track and looked far ahead of him there was a large slug looking fiend that had seven long hairy legs, it had a number of eyes and no yet it seemed to hear Riken's shout and cry for his friends. The monster stared and Riken with its numerous black beady eyes and it slowly walked towards him, towering over him even from distances away.

Its body looked slimy and soft, and everytime it walked there was a strange liquid that was left behind in its trail. Riken saw a red, ominous window appear before his eyes and it read :

Welcome, Greenhorn Radiant, to your first of many Slumber trials, the only way to leave is win or die and if you win you have many more trials that await you. The further you progress the harder the trials become.

Defeat the Burbus (half a star out of 10) time left : 100 minutes.

Shocked and confused, Riken just ran to the nearest rock he could find and took shelter behind it to stay safe and calculate how he was going to kill such a gruesome monster.

He thought for a while and looked at its slimy chitin, he thought,

"That looks soft and easy to pierce"

He looked and scanned around for a weapon but there was none in sight, Riken was quickly disheartened at this sudden realisation. He thought to see how much time he had left and it popped up again

"PIPIPIPIPI!" "PIPIPIPIPI!" "PIPIPIPI!"

You have 70 minutes left!

From this Riken was able to deduce that time was running fast and there was not enough time left until the Trial would be over.He had to think fast.

He ran behind the fiend and was careful enough not to alert it, he stepped on something sharp that pierced his left foot despite wearing shoes, he looked down and saw this slimy sharp hairy looking object. Riken had thought that the hair on the legs of the Burbus were soft like human hair but that was not the case.

He quickly picked up as many of the hair like things on the black sandy floor and thought of using them as his swords.

He ripped off his school shirt and used it as a handle for his "sword" and steeled his conviction, he left no space for fear and regret in his mind and stared at the Burbus with death in his eyes.

There stood a handsome 6'3 tall man and his predator, a slugish friend that had many eyes and no ears. The Burbus charged at its prey and bared its maw and attempted to eat Riken. However Riken was fast enough and slid under the Burbus' chitin whilst tainting his clothing with that slimy substance the monster constantly produced.

He thrusted with all his might and pierced the hide of the Burbus and it oozed a purple liquid which was probably its blood, Riken continued to thrust until the Burbus whipped to its side and side kicked Riken In the ribs.

Riken felt the electrical pain coursing through the left side of his body, he thought of how much time he had left

"PIPIPIPIPI!" "PIPIPIPIPI!" "PIPIPIPI!"

It read : You have 15 minutes left

Riken gritted his teeth and cursed

"Shit!"

He charged again and managed to slash the monster in a critical spot, without thinking he continued to slash all over the Burbus, under, over, inner and in a adrenaline fueled frenzy, he made his way to the monster's head. There,without thinking, he stabbed the fiend multiple times until the window showed itself again and this time it was blue not an ominous red.

"PIPIPIPIPI!" "PIPIPIPIPI!" "PIPIPIPI!"

Congratulations, Young one, you have managed to overcome one of your first many Trials! You are now an Initiate Radiant!

Tired and relieved, Riken closed his eyes and hoped he would be home or at least around people, humans, he didn't care even if they were new faces, he just wanted to go home.

"Humm" "Humm"

The sound of machines had woken Riken up, he saw a figure of white next to him and the figure ran and brought more figure wearing white. Riken could barely keep his eyes open and just fell asleep.

He woke up again and saw familiar faces that he could never forget. They were his mother and father, they smiled and cried and hugged.

His parents asked if he was allowed to go home but the doctors refused because he had to undergo some testing, his parents were clearly worried about having to leave their child again but in the end they had no choice.

Riken, could barely sleep and so being bored he just thought of the Window and it popped it, now that he was in a rational mind state he was able to take in all the information the Window had to offer. It read :

But what Riken had seen next really shocked him

This had made Riken wonder how powerful he would be in the future because the stronger does he faced the stronger his Horde would be. 

He slept for the day and woke up to see a nurse looking at him, she smiled and gave him breakfast. He ate and waited for his tests, minutes later he under went hours of testing and at the end he was finally allowed to go home. 

His parents came and picked him, on his way out he noticed this outstandingly beautiful girl staring at him, she had sharp blue eyes and jet black hair and she also had an upturned nose that made her even more beautiful. She gave Riken a scornful look and left,

"What the heck was that." 

He thought , he shrugged and entered his parents car and went home. 

By the time he went home, hsi family were asking all sorts of questions about his Slumber and he answered dutifully like any good son would, he spared no detail and by the time their discussion was done he went up to his bed and called it a night.

Groggy and disorientated, he heard mumbling downstairs and wondered what it was. He went downstairs and saw two large and muscular men talking to his parents. He looked at his parents expecting answers, they just looked at him with a sadness in their eye.

"His Majesty requires you to go to an academy filled with others like you, you shall join a class of your rank which is Initiate Radiant,ahem, you will all be the same or similar ages." 

One of the men spoke. 

Riken was shocked at this news and looked at his parents expecting their help but their expression was the same throughout,

"You have to help humanity against the Death Specter and his legion of Celestial Wraiths!" "This is your role as a Radiant!"

The other man spoke. Again, Riken looked at his parents lost, this time their faces were spooked and pale.

"what are they?!"

Riken asked frantically

"You will know it all soon when you join the academy."

Spoke the big burly man.

Riken thought as to what he should do, he thought and decided it was best that he should go, he grimaced and replied,

"Okay I'm going."

The two men stood up and waited outside for Riken to come and join them. Riken said his goodbyes to his family and joined the two men in their dark SUV.

They drove for hours and finally one man spoke,

"Never let anyone know your abilities and never reveal your distinct ability"

Riken thought and accepted the man's advice.They arrived at the school and Riken saw a marble white manor that he thought had belonged to the king but he the realised it was a school from the number of uniformed students entering it. 

They reached the gate and He saw an eagle crested on the bars of the gate, he was awe struck by this and realized life was going to be bliss from now. He headed to the hall where a ceremony was being held for new students and he was standing at the back whilst all the girls looked and him and whispered things like 

"omg isn't he handsome" "he's sooo tall" " oh he's looking here"

He ignored all of this and looked around the hall analysing everyone and that when he saw her. She was here again from the hospital and now here is school.

He walked up to go speak to her that when he hit something and it said 

"Where do you think you're going?"
