6. Grateful

I looked at the boy beside me.

'even his side profile is breathless. He should be a model, not gonna lie.' I was smiling until I remembered the last memories we had. I turned around.

Closing my eyes I looked down and placed my hand on my face.

'That won't happen again. I will not let that happen..... I am getting emotional, again! Xiang Zhi is not dead. Lian Huaiwei is alive.'

even after telling myself to not, one tear eventually rolled down my eye.

'damn it!' I wiped the tears off of my face.

'No, Xiang Zhi. You can't be this emotional after traveling through time and space. I have to be stronger! to protect the people around me, who cares for me, and who I care. They did nothing wrong. It was because of me..' Xiang Zhi opened her eyes with a new light of determination and passion.

'She has changed. She is behaving a little mature, It's like watching a completely different person. She didn't ignore me, as she would usually do, even talked to me! I thought she was pranking me at first, but then she acknowledged me in front of the whole class. She hasn't put any extravagant makeup on, It's not like I hate it when she makeup! I like everything about her. She is beautiful in every way to me...

What if she distances herself from me because I am prying? I don't know what I'll do if that happens.' Lian Huaiwei thought. He turned to look at her when he saw Xiang Zhi covering her face and looking down.

Huaiwei internally frowned.

'what is it? she was just smiling and now she is looking all gloomy all of a sudden.

What is happening Xiang Zhi.....? I...I wish you could tell me. I wish to see you smiling, I want to make you happy. I will make you, just give me a chance, Zhi.' Then an image of Xiang Zhi laughing and blushing at him flashed in Lian Huaiwei's mind making him red as well.

'quiet down my heart. I know it's unbelievable but believe it! ....Well, I don't blame you. She all of a sudden talked to me and How did we become friends anyway? Haaahhhhh, ...., Good. Isn't that what you wanted Huaiwei? To be close to her?

Since the first time I saw her, I've always wanted to befriend her.

Lian Huaiwei saw the tear slide down from her eye and how she quickly wiped it.

He froze for a moment.

'Something is going on here. Zhi is in pain but I don't know what happened-' his thoughts were interrupted when he saw the determinant look on her face. Her gaze was fierce. It was like she could Pierce through anything or anyone in her way.

My eyes widen at the thoughts I was having in my head. 'It is not alright, Huaiwei!'

I could feel the heat in my cheeks coming back.

'ugh, not again. Why is it that even her little action is getting the biggest reaction from me?'

"Hey, Huaiwei? are you alright?"

"No, Xiang Zhi is driving me crazy!"

"what did I do?" I came to my senses too late when I hear a soft voice ask me.

"huh? what..? No-nothing I said Nothing, Xiang Zhi" I hurriedly replied when I looked up at the worried eyes of the girl.

"you sure? If there is anything you need, tell me, okay? I will help you!" Zhi announced with a gentle smile yet with determination.

I looked at her and a smile without me knowing formed on my face.

"yes! I will tell you. And if you need anything or even want to share anything with someone, You can count on me. okay?" I asked not sure if she will agree with me because.. you know, we just become friends.

I looked at her through my big glasses as her expression froze for a while and then after a moment, she nods and I saw the most beautiful smile I have ever seen in my entire life.

My heart skipped a beat.

It was breathtaking.

The moment was like stopped for us It was the moment I realized.

'I think...I am falling for her.'

****Xiang Zhi's Point Of View.

This boy.... is crazy. or I think I am going crazy.

Crazy for him.

what the hell?? Why are you like this Huaiwei? You were always there for me. You never asked anything in return. Always giving and yet I didn't even know we were this close from the very beginning.

I want to hug you so badly and tell you all the things, everything that happened to me the betrayal, the time travel and our ending, your death for me... I want to tell you all about it.

But I know, I can't. It is not like I think you won't believe it, I have a feeling that you will believe it. It's just I am ashamed of my doings. Of How fool I was.

Maybe, just maybe if there comes a time, I will share everything with you but until then, I have to burden these memories alone.

"hmm" I nodded my head couldn't dare to speak or my emotions are going to be the best of me

I muster up a smile for him. Grateful. Thankful.
