Escape

George withdrew his hand in shock, kicking the angel to the side as he held his bleeding hand with shock in his eyes. Shock not towards the bite or his feeling of pain after so many years - but to how the demon could sneak up and bite him without his notice…

"And the system, saying something about bond being made with this thing. Fck! Wouldn't him killing it now result in some sort of backlash?"

George couldn't help, but curse. He had really fucked up this time - and he was in deep trouble.

[User, Bond Is Only Partially Formed: Killing The Target Now Before Completion Would Only Result In A Minor Backlash - Losing 40% Of Accumulated Qi]

He stared at the screen that had popped up before him, a bit annoyed. He stared at the winged humanoid sprawled on the ground beneath him, wheezing and coughing while struggling to survive.

[Killing It Wouldn't Make A Difference, Letting It Live Will.]

"Sigh, what you're saying is partly true. I wouldn't be so skeptical if I had my former strength, but now - it wouldn't be easy protecting those around him." After thinking to himself, and with the persuasion of the system, George's will finally shook. He let out a tired sigh before walking up to the demonic angel.

"Killing her now would be so easy wouldn't it? The future would seem a bit safer without her around me…"

George paused. Time seemed to have frozen as he gazed as the demonic angel beneath him in pity, but it was washed away by coldness in the next split second.

"But, was there ever a day that the people around me weren't threatened? Killing her would only clear her mistake of trying to kill him, and nothing else."

[So you letting her live? Good, all we need to do is bound her for now until she's in a, uh, better state of mind.]

"I'm letting her live, for now at least." George thought out loud as he drew back his leg, and ruthlessly kicked the demonic angel in the guts. His expression was cold and apathetic as always - not a trace of emotion.

"As for that symbiotic relationship, we'll deal with that later."

After George had gave the demonic angel a kick to relieve his angel, he walked over to the other and did not hesitate or observe anymore to avoid any more of the annoying system requests. He simply raised his sword, and stabbed down without remorse or pity.

He wished he could kill the other too, but knew killing without benefits would be fruitless. All he could do know was sit back calmly, and relax whilst observing this new species created by Eli-Jar.

"Get up, we're moving." George spoke out loud as he began to walk away, not caring if the demon could understand him or not. He didn't even bother to know if it was following him or still lying down behind him.

[Are You Forgetting Something? You Left It Back There…]

"What? I'm not responsible for it. If it can't move then it'll just become food to the beasts wandering past this area in search of a new home." George spat out casually as he continued his march forward, not even slowing down in the slightest.

"Besides, who knows if it understands ? It may be intelligent, but not every intelligent beast speaks ."

 [Okay User.]

After walking for a while, George paused and rolled his eyes to himself before turning around. He wasn't shocked to see the demonic angel standing weakly behind him, emotionlessly with dead eyes.

"Go, I will follow." Al'Hazrel muttered as she bowed down her head, and folded her wings behind her back with her body trembling slightly. She was a bit shaken after witnessing the death of two sisters.

"Good." George nodded his head, turned around with his brows knitted, and sheathed his blade. After all that, he straightened his spine and began his march forward, completely sealing off all his senses to think.

——

Dozens, if not hundreds of demonic angels shrouded the sky, their loud crys and shrill shrieks echoed throughout the dimly lit forest, and all other sounds were drowned in their voices.

George, who had grabbed Al'Hazrel's slender hand to pull her forward, tilted his head backward to glare at the creatures that shrouded the sky. Killing them would not be easy, and he knew that completely.

"Al'Hazrel would you be able to see or hear me if you were up there?" George asked, trying his best to keep his words as plain and simple as possible to avoid too many unnecessary questions. He wanted to know how much perception those demonic angels had.

Al'Hazrel shook her head, and George clicked his tongue in disappointment, but he was a bit elated he didn't have to face a horde of demonic angels now.

 "Well that's too bad because—"

"They wouldn't be able to see or hear you, but some can smell you."

George who was about to take a bold step forward, froze in his steps and turned to Al'Hazrel with bloodshot eyes, his soft grip on the hilt of his tightened!

This! George calmed the raging storm in his heart and closed his eyes, if this group of pathetic vermins scared him, then he was not better than he was before.

"Hehe, Al'Hazrel. How much beatings would you be able to take if I continuously bashed you with all my strength." George asked, his eyes glimmering in a soft light and he drew his leg back and took a defensive battle stance. His aura had begun to manifest as Qi around him body - albeit a little weakly.

Al'Hazrel trembled as she thought back to the moment when George's sword smashed into her from the side. It felt as if she had been knocked down by a powerful bull!

She was unable to breath, move or think straight for a few long minutes. Every single bone in her body was shattered from the impact, although they healed later on. That strike was worse than what she had ever imagined - and she was trying her best to avoid it.

"Beatings? I don't know, but your very first strike was really powerful. The first hit was more than enough to immobilize me for minutes."

George raised his brow, then sighed in realization. It seems that although his cultivation had dropped, he still retained at least a fraction of his past strength.

If it was true, it explains why he could beat those angels down so easily. It also explains his ability to wield his blade efficiently in the last battle.

'—or it could be that the angels are just weak…'

George ignored that thought, he would find out now the moment these angels sniff him out. It wouldn't take long for them to sniff me out or—

"Help! This idiot killed everyone!" Al'Hazrel let out a shrill scream at the top of her voice, attracting the attention of all the demonic angels. She didn't waste any more standing besides George, running off before he could blink.

Watching as the female demonic angel ran off into the forest, George grinned. He didn't even bother chasing her or cursing himself or the system.

"—For her to use them as meat shields to secure her escape. So smart, but yet, so naive."
