"Just a little more" - [Arius Nova] muttered as he felt his body constantly vibrating in a sign of growth. He could feel his vitality growing over time, but at the same time it wasn't enough - "I need to continue consuming [Oracle Cells] in order to increase my abilities, but the problem is that there is no [Aragami] in the area anymore."
Johannes was at a crossroads. He needed to continue consuming in order to evolve because he could feel the presence of [Calamity] in the area.
"If only I could consume one more [Aragami], or at least a squad of [God Eater]!" - Arius Nova] muttered as he shook his head.
The [Aragami] was about to return to his hiding place, but his expression changed to one of excitement when he heard a helicopter - "Does the world want me to keep evolving?"
[Arius Nova] couldn't contain his excitement as he felt saliva running down his mouth - "This is perfect, yet at the same time it's too convenient. Maybe I'll investigate before I act."
[Arius Nova] slowly walked in the direction where the helicopter was headed while reducing his presence as best he could, after all, he didn't know if Cloud was in the vicinity.
* * * * *
". . ." - Cloud frowned as he felt his senses begin to alert him that things were about to change, though he didn't know if this change was for the better, or for the worse.
"This confirms it, Johannes is not in this area" - Alisa said as she shook her head. The three of them had been scouring this sector for over an hour and so far they had found no signs of life - "It's even obvious to deduce that he passed through this place, but left after consuming all the [Aragami] in the area."
"I share the same opinion" - Cloud replied while looking at [Sapphire] to notice if she felt anything strange. Of the three of them, it was she who had the best senses to detect [Arius Nova], after all, she felt an instinctive fear when that thing was near her.
[Sorry, my lord] - [Sapphire] replied while shaking her head in denial.
"Don't worry, we'll find it soon" - Cloud replied while giving her a small smile, only to move a few meters away and make her body transform again.
"Can you adjust your size?" - Alisa asked as she looked uncomfortably at the huge silver dragon.
"I don't think it's possible" - Cloud replied as he shook his head - "I don't have that kind of ability, at least not for now."
Alisa sighed regretfully as she shook her head, only to climb over the silver dragon with a defeated expression.
[Sapphire] watched them silently as a small, sadistic smile appeared on her lips, it was time to watch that female ridicule herself once again.
"Where shall we go now?" - Alisa asked as she tried to settle herself in such a way that she wouldn't suffer so much from the trip.
"We already checked the east zone, so now we'll go to the north zone" - answered Cloud seriously as he spread his wings and prepared to take flight, but his expression changed when he heard his companion's communicator ring - "I think that before we mobilize, we'd better listen to your message."
"OK" - Alisa nodded as she checked her communicator, only to frown.
"What's going on?" - Cloud asked as he noticed the girl's expression.
"I have bad news" - said Alisa seriously as she looked carefully at the dragon - "[Fenrir] is in the area right now."
"Oh, please tell me they didn't come with a huge group" - sighed Cloud while frowning because if what he was thinking was correct, then Johannes was in the last stage of his evolution with everything he had managed to consume.
"I'm not sure" - Alisa replied as she shook her head.
"I guess we'll find out as we fly around the area, although if I'm honest, I don't like the idea of those assholes being here" - Cloud said seriously as he snorted in disdain - "Because I'm sure they're going to screw it up."
"I think the same" - replied Alisa while nodding, after all, she had heard too many things from Tatenashi, Houki and Sofi to be able to get her own idea of [Fenrir]'s situation - "What will we do if we run into them?"
"I don't know what you will do, but I will show no mercy" - Cloud answered coldly, after all, he had no interest or attachment for [Fenrir], neither did he feel empathy for the lives that would be lost in the process.
"I didn't expect such a cold response from [Humanity's Hope]!" - Alisa replied as she raised an eyebrow.
"An empty title that I don't care about in the slightest" - Cloud snorted as a neutral look appeared on his face - "I'll be honest, I don't care about the lives of others, I was just doing my job. I'm not a hero, and I never thought of being one."
"I feel like you're lying with that last one" - Alisa said as she looked at the silver dragon.
"What do you mean?" - Cloud asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"A person who doesn't care about the lives of others, wouldn't help all the people you saved, no matter if that was your job or not" - Alisa replied as a small smile appeared on her face - "Although if I believe that you never thought about being a hero, and honestly, I don't plan on becoming one either."
". . ." - Cloud was silent for a few seconds before shaking his head. He wouldn't lie, he felt appreciation for those who sought to save others through self-sacrifice, but at the same time he considered them jerks - "No matter how much one sacrifices, the world will always seek more."
Alisa's eyes widened when she heard this because she thought the same thing, more so when she saw the world's opinion for Cloud. At first, everyone treated them as the new messiah, but when he disappeared, everyone called him an ingrate, a bastard, a traitor of humanity.
Cloud seemed oblivious to this fact, and she was sure he wouldn't care much either, but Alisa had to admit that it was annoying that people talked about Cloud so much.
Did Cloud tell them that he would carry all the weight of the world for them?
Did he tell them he would save them all?
Cloud never said anything like that, in fact, he never accepted the title of [The Hope of Mankind], but people seemed to forget this fact as they wished he would continue to sacrifice his life for them.
Alisa again shook her head because she felt that she was thinking things that did not come to the point. She quickly looked at Cloud, who was silently thinking - "Are you okay?"
"Oh, sorry, I was just thinking about some random things" - Cloud replied as he shook his head - "Anyway, it's time for us to leave before [Fenrir] does something he'll regret later."
"OK" - nodded Alisa earnestly as she affirmed herself as best she could to the huge silver dragon, only to feel the wind start blowing hard - "I still can't get used to this."
"I'd rather not get used to it" - Alisa replied neutrally as the trio flew off in a northerly direction, not noticing how things were about to change for the worse in the western area.
* * * * *
"I knew you were in this area, Johannes" - said a general as he looked at the beast in front of him - "It's good that you showed up without doing anything weird, so at least our job will be much easier."
"Job?" - [Arius Nova] asked in his distorted voice.
"We were tasked with capturing you alive, so feel proud, old friend" - said the general as he looked disdainfully at the appearance his former companion now had - "Although I have to admit that your new look suits you well"
[Arius Nova] didn't answer him, he just let out a laugh that made the surroundings tremble.
"What are you laughing at?" - [Arius Nova] asked the general with a frown as he looked at the red beast.
"That you are more stupid than I remembered" - said [Arius Nova] as he continued to laugh uncontrollably at the human's words - "I think you misunderstand the situation, I did not come here to give up or because I am desperate to return to my former appearance"
"Then what did you come here for?" - The general asked, only to feel a sharp pain in his chest - "Ack!"
"General!" - exclaimed the soldiers and [God Eater] on the scene as they watched a claw pierce their leader's chest.
"I came for a simple reason" - [Arius Nova] said as his laughter became increasingly insane - "I have come to devour you all! Rejoice for soon you will be part of a superior being, a being that will bring an end to this world flooded by a race that does not deserve it!"
[Arius Nova] quickly devoured the general's body while releasing a powerful surge of energy to destroy the helicopter.
The soldiers and [God Eater] screamed in terror as they gritted their teeth. They quickly stood on guard as they prepared for the worst, after all, their only escape route had been destroyed.
"Attack!" - [God Eater] exclaimed the second in command of the operation, only for cries of despair, terror and mercy, to be heard after a few seconds.
