Yeorough

The beginning light of the dawn makes its way through the half-open window of their room. Spelling the end of a short night. They pay the tavern keeper and make their way northward. Wanting to get there as soon as possible, they decided to spend the last of their coins on a carriage ride. It didn't take long to find this carriage, as a farmer who was heading there to sell his products had some space in the back. Next to the rattling boxes, the uncomfortable but efficient carriage trip went without a hitch.

Now they stand before Yeorough, the largest city of the grand duchy of Creseytesia. The difference between this city and Chawbore is evident. The morning here is already far louder than Chawbore in its entirety. Merchants are actively trying to sell their wares as passersby are either trying to buy something or going to their work.

"Listen all! The best fish from Durden is here right before you! Guaranteed delight!" A fish merchant yells whilst smacking the fish he holds.

"Good Linen! Good linen!" A younger woman yells for some reason, just repeating that over and over.

The city far more bustling in this early morning is almost overwhelming for Cornelius and Secessus as they get pushed to a side without much resistance.

"Well, here we are. What now?" Cornelius asks, clearing some dust off his clothes.

"Mercenary or adventurers guild. If it has a building. Otherwise, just find something to do." Secessus says as he forces his way back through the busy market square.

After half an hour of unfruitful searching, they decide to try a different approach. Secessus goes toward a guard on patrolling duty.

"I'm sorry, I'm a new adventurer to town. Where can I find the guild?" He asks while scanning the guard.

Looking at the guard's armor and general demeanor, he doesn't look to be highly ranked. His armor looks simple and is mostly made out of fur, only his helmet and sword seem to be made out of iron.

"You can find the adventurers guild passed Minerva's potions shop. It's the fifth street on your left." The guard replies, whilst pointing out. His voice doesn't sound terribly excited. Looking at his demeanor, it seems he's at the end of a long shift.

"Thank you."

"No worries."

Grabbing Cornelius, the pair makes their way toward the adventurer's guild. In a matter of minutes they arrive in front of this large building bustling with people. Some are extremely well armored, as they even have gems in bedded in their refined steel plate chest plate. Others are less lucky, the only true thing of note probably the weapon they wield, and for some even that isn't all that impressive.

Entering the building made out of this combination of stone and wood, Secessus glances around. On the right side there is a large billboard with all different kinds of paper upon it. In front there are many receptionists in their bureaus working hard to fulfill some requests. Finally, on the left there is this lounge area, it doesn't look shabby, but it's not that impressive. It's just some large seats and cushions placed there, but nothing decorative.

Secessus stands in line for these receptionists. Hoping to be able to receive a proper explanation on how to become an adventurer. He can hardly sit still as his heart beats a bit faster than usual.

"Looking for a healer and a mage!" A young adventurer yells, looking rather desperate.

It's less hectic than the market square, however the recruitment and deals between adventurers themselves makes this place feel pretty similar.

Around ten minutes pass by, but finally it's Secessus turn to be assisted.

"Hello there sir. How can I be of assistance." The young man before the shade demon is in quite the shabby state. His hair is a mess whilst his eyes are eagerly skipping around the place.

"I would like to become an adventurer." The shade demon says, basically asking for an explanation.

The young receptionist grabs a piece of paper and realigns his glasses. Not looking at the shade demon any longer.

"Are you or were you affiliated with any mercenary or adventuring guilds before applying here?"

"No, there are other adventuring guilds?" Secessus asks out of curiosity.

"Do you have combat experience?" The young receptionist ignores Secessus's question, still just looking at his paper.

"I guess." Secessus replies, not really aware of the standards of this realm.

"Do you practice the arcane?"

"A bit."

"Are you registered in Drearoth?"

"No."

This time his scribbling seems to be more detailed than before. This is probably a bigger deal than the other questions.

"Weapon of choice?"

"Spear."

"Name?"

"Sol."

"Do you have a last name?"

"No."

"Very well, sir. You can go to the training ground at the behind this building. There you can find some veterans and knights. They will test you so that you can be placed in the appropriate rank."

"There are ranks?"

"Indeed, the rankings are as followed from low to high: Greenhorn, Beginner, Novice, Stone, Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Emerald, Diamond, Exalted. Any more questions, sir? You are holding back the line." The receptionist informs the shade demon.

Secessus looks behind him to see a lot of disgruntled faces.

"No, that will be all." He says in a polite tone, grabbing the paper that the receptionist has filled in.

Leaving the large adventurer's guild, Secessus looks at the building again. At the top of the building, there is the emblem of an eagle carved into the stone part of the building.

"Don't stand around. You're gathering attention." Cornelius says as his appeared from out of nowhere again.

"What do you mean?"

Cornelius doesn't reply, but simply points out a few individuals. A mixture of more experienced adventurers and perhaps more arcane specialized individuals seem to look toward Secessus with a suspicious gaze.

Not willing to create an unnecessary hassle, Secessus moves to the back of the building.

"Is anyone following?" He asks Cornelius.

"No, no one." Cornelius replies, not even looking backward.

"Good, let's quickly get ranked. Sticking around will just give someone the courage to investigate." Secessus says, continuing forward toward the guild's training ground.
