Before dawn on New Year's Eve, firecrackers had already begun to explode.
Ji Yun opened his eyes and immediately felt his body brimming with the excitement and anticipation of the New Year.
"Old Ji, time to get up, quickly, quickly!" Ji Yun urged as he washed up.
Ji Heshan didn't react at all, continuing to sleep soundly in his room.
Ji Yun could not wait any longer, so he pushed open the door and dragged Ji Heshan out of bed.
"It's New Year's Eve! Hurry and go to the market to buy some ingredients. I'll go to Fangxing Street to get some New Year's pastries," Ji Yun said.
"Hey, what's the fuss? We just need to wrap some taro dumplings and make a few simple dishes, that'll be enough for the two of us," Ji Heshan said, rolling over, intending to go back to sleep.
Lunch was usually simple.
The feast wouldn't start until around four or five in the afternoon.
