Chapter 2

Pulling up to the front of my parents mansion, my nerves spike as I know that I will have to tell my parents why I am back home. My parents own a ranch that is located on the outskirts of Nashville. The land is so vast that the closet neighbor is six and a half miles each direction from the drive way. Their multi million dollar mansion, that looks like a farmhouse on crack, stands in the direct center of the property. Huxley clears his throat to get my attention. I look over at him to be met with a reassuring smile as he holds his hand out to help me get out of the car. As soon as I am fully out of the car, I hear a voice come from the top of the stairs that I have missed so much. Butterflies appear in my stomach at the thought of how they will take the news.

"My baby is home. I am so excited that you are here Nattie," my mothers voice reaches my ears. My head snaps up to see my parents at the top of the stairs that lead to the front door. Mom starts to make her way down to me as I take in the sight of my two favorite beings in this world. My mother is a short, blonde hair, blue eyed, 5 foot 2 woman who scares even the biggest bad-ass there is. She may be small but she is a little firecracker. Her name is Isabella Micheals and speaks with a southern accent that gets heavier when she is mad. My dad calls her his Georgia peach since she was born in a small town in Georgia.

My dad stays in his spot at the top of the stairs but is smiling at me as mom makes her way to me. Dad is a 6 foot 5, black hair, bright green eyed, burly man. My father is Darius Anderson. He is from right here in Nashville and loves this town like he built it himself. In a way he did, but not entirely. My father owns the biggest record label in Nashville, Anderson Records and Co. With my fathers fame in this city, my siblings and I went to a private school growing up until we annoyed them enough to let us go to one of the public schools. Dad made sure that we had fake last names so that we wouldn't have fake friends. He wanted us to have the whole experience.

Mom reaches me and pulls me into a bone-crushing hug. I pull my bottom half away slightly, which gets Huxley's attention. "Come on, mom. Don't kill her. She needs to breath." Mom immediately lets me go and gives me an apologetic look.

"Sorry sweetheart. I just got excited to see you," my mom apologizes before kissing my forehead.

"It's alright, momma. I am excited to see you too," I reply with a smile. We start to make our way up to the door and my father. The butterflies in my stomach intensify with each step I take closer to him. Even though I am freaking out on the inside, I keep my face void of my nervousness.

We make it to the top of the stairs in what feels like no time. I look at my father as he stands before me with happiness in his eyes.

"Hey, daddy. I'm sorry I haven't visited in a while," I say to my father. His eyes dance with joy at my endearment for him.

"It's perfectly fine, baby girl. I know that you have been busy. Jaxon has told us all about it but we also think that he just wants his favorite sister all to himself," my dad chuckles out while pulling me into a hug. We all laugh at the accusation towards Jaxon. Ever since I can remember, he has always wanted to be the one I am close to and count on. My other brothers would just roll their eyes and run off with me normally thrown over their shoulder.

Everyone makes their way into the house where I am immediately steered to the dinning room by my mom. I am forced into a chair before I could protest and a plate is set in front of me by Huxley. My stomach chooses this exact moment to let everyone know that it is empty by growling really loud. My parents chuckle as I look up at Huxley. He gives me a stern expression with a smile and I already know there is no getting out of this. Soup and saltines have been my best friend the past few days since my morning sickness hit me hard. The dinner I had prepared at home before the everything went south was a homemade vegetable and beef soup with bread sticks on the side. By now, they either have tossed it out or are enjoying it.

I look at the plate to see fried chicken, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, green beans, and a roll. Saliva starts to immediately fill my mouth as I stare at the plate of heaven in front of me. There is a stereotype that people who are 'high class' eat healthy foods and work out constantly because they are under the impression that being a size zero is beauty. The family I come from isn't like that. We believe that beauty is on the inside and is measured by your character and not by your appearance.

"Save some room for dessert. Mrs. Shannon is made her famous cobbler and homemade ice cream," mom tells me in excitement.

Mrs. Shannon has worked for my parents since before my brothers and I were even thought of. She has always made sure we had all of our food groups and would also make us special requests when we were sick. Even then there were veggies in the food with fruit on the side.

I pick up a piece of meat, hoping that I will be able to eat this and keep it down. Taking a bite, I hold back the moan that wants to escape my body from the taste of this heavenly food. The next ten minutes are spent eating in silence as we all enjoy our meal. My mom is the one who breaks the silence that we are engulfed in.

"So, sweetheart. What brings you home? Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled you are here, but I am just curious to if there is a specific reason," mom asks as she takes another bite of her roll.

I gulp as I place my fork back down on the table. "Well, mom, there is a reason for me being here. Christo...." I go to break the news to them that I am now divorced when I feel sick to my stomach. My hand goes to my mouth as I get up from my seat. The guest bathroom is the closest one to the dinning room so I run out in that direction. I can hear my mom call out to me as I make my mad dash to the bathroom and hear Huxley tell her I will be right back.

Opening the door, I rush in and lock the door. Barely making it to the toilet, all of what I ate makes a second appearance tonight and let me tell you. It tasted better the first time. When everything is out of my stomach, I rinse my mouth after washing my hands. Stepping out in the hall, I can hear my dad talking to Huxley about the new artist that he is trying to recruit.

I walk around the corner to go back to my seat when mom sees me. "Sweetheart, are you okay?"

"Yes, mom, I am fine. This has been happening the past few days," I assure her as I take my seat. "That is actually one of the reasons that I am here. Christopher came home and accused me of cheating on him. Someone took photos of Jaxon and I looking at that new potential space we have been hunting for as well as him and Megan making out in a club. As soon as he got home, he started to yell and be cold towards me. Max, his lawyer, was summoned to his office to draw up divorce papers before he came home. As he gave them to me, his assistant walked in and stated they have been together for months now. I am now divorced from him since he jumped to conclusions when he was the unfaithful one. But that is not the worst part," I rush out to them to get it over with. I look at my parents who are looking at me in shock and a hint of sadness.

"What could be worse than finding out your spouse was cheating on you but decided to accuse you of it?" My father asked with anger seeping into his voice.

Taking a deep breath, I look at my brother who gives me a nod to continue. "The worst part is that he didn't just throw me away. Mom, dad, I am pregnant."

The Anderson's stare at me for a moment before they start to smile. They both get up and walk over to my seat. Dad pulls me up before him and mom hug me at the same time.

"Oh, honey. You are not alone in this. We will always be there for you and will help you with anything and everything. I will have the crew clean up the room next to yours and start to get it prepared to be a nursery. Do you have a doctor yet?" mom gushes out as she squeezes me but not as hard as when I got here. "OH MY GOSH! That is why your brother had me release you when you got here. Is the baby okay? Please tell me I didn't squish my first grandchild."

We all laugh at her word vomit and I just shake my head. "I had a checkup at the hospital when I went this morning. The baby is healthy and growing at the right pace. I am about two months pregnant but don't worry. You didn't squish the baby," I reply to my mom. Relief floods her face before she gets a big smile.

"I'm going to be a grand-mother! Oh, I'm so excited. I need to start looking up catalogs for everything we will need. On top of that, I need to call your aunt to get started on designing maternity clothes for you and also clothes for the little bean when they arrive. I really hope that the baby is a girl," she starts to gush while pulling out her phone.

Before I could say anything, she walks out of the room in haste while she calls my Aunt Gracie. I look over at my dad and brother to see them roll their eyes in exasperation. Gracie Anderson is one of the hottest fashion designers in the fashion industry right now. Celebrities and other wealthy people are always trying to get her to design clothing for them.

"Why do I have a feeling that she is going to be over the top with this," I ask them with a scared look.

"Oh, she definitely will. We all know how mom gets. It will be worse than when she planned Jaxon and Megan's wedding. You are giving her the first of many grand-kids. Hell, I'm surprised that Jaxon hasn't gotten Megan pregnant from the way they go at it," Huxley replies with a chuckle. Our dad looks mortified at the last bit of what his son just said.

"To much information on the life of your brother, son. I did not need to know that," dad says while shivering in disgust. Huxley and I laugh at his antics since we always tend to make comments like that just to mess with him.

"It's not anything new since they keep getting seen like that at all of their adventures to clubs. The only reason I know that is because I have been having to do PR control on them to keep it out of the papers and magazines," Huxley states to us as he looks at my dad with a knowing smile.

Our dad throws his hands up in the air. "That's it! I quit. If you need me, I will be in my office getting stuff ready for my grandchild when they get here." With a hug, he walks out of the dinning room and disappears down the hall.

I look over at Huxley and let out a big breath. "Well that went better than I thought it would. I thought that they would freak out and tell me that they were right about Christopher."

My parents were not to thrilled when I told them that I would be marrying him. They both were okay with my plan at the beginning with wanting someone to fall in love with me for me and not my name. Christopher was a greedy man in their opinion that only wanted money as well as power. When they confronted me about it, I decided to keep my personal file locked so that I could prove to them that he wasn't what they thought. In the end, all it did was leave me hurt and a single mom.

"Of course it did. Why wouldn't they be happy about their grandchild? They wouldn't just go straight to 'I told you so' after that news. I would give it a few days and it might happen," Huxley states. He ruffles my hair and goes out the dinning room towards dad's office. At this point, I don't know what I should do. Should I go upstairs to my room? Or should I go to the office and get down to business on the future for me and little bean?

With a deep breath, I make my mind up and head towards the office. Better to get it out of the way now better than later.
