The Bug King's Domain

The faint hum of the dungeon's air carried an eerie resonance, as if the walls themselves pulsed with life. Ray, Tsuki, and Wogg moved cautiously, their senses sharp. They had encountered several monsters already, and though Ray had proven himself capable, the challenges ahead loomed large.

Ray wiped a bead of sweat from his brow, glancing back the way they came.

"Thanks to God, we didn't bring Rir here," he muttered, his voice tinged with relief. "It's highly dangerous."

Tsuki, walking gracefully beside him, nodded. "Yeah, but I'm still a bit worried about her. She's young and restless. I hope she stays safe."

Wogg, trudging along behind them with his axe resting on his shoulder, gave a grunt of reassurance. "Don't worry about her. My subordinates are capable and loyal. They'll take good care of her while we're here."

Ray nodded, but the gnawing worry about leaving Rir behind lingered in the back of his mind. He didn't have time to dwell on it, though, as Tsuki suddenly stopped and raised her nose to the air.

"There's something ahead," she said, her tone sharper than usual.

The three advanced, and soon enough, the corridor opened into a wide chamber. At the center stood a towering creature, its body glistening as if covered in a chitinous armor. Its multiple limbs twitched unnervingly, and its bulbous, multifaceted eyes seemed to reflect the dim light from every angle.

Tsuki's ears twitched, and she lowered her body slightly, ready for action.

"That's a Chitin Scuttler," she said. "A mid-boss. It's not too smart, but it's fast, and its pincers can cut through most materials. We need to be careful."

Ray gulped, gripping his APW, which had taken the form of a spear. He readied himself as the Scuttler screeched and lunged forward.

But before it could close the distance, Tsuki stepped forward. "Let me handle this," she said, her voice calm and confident.

The Fanrir inhaled deeply, her chest expanding as energy began to gather around her. A small, glowing ball of light formed in her mouth, swirling with condensed mana. She released it, and the ball shot forward, moving too fast for the Scuttler to react.

When the ball hit the ground in front of the creature, it didn't explode as Ray expected. Instead, it expanded into a massive beam of concentrated energy, sweeping across the chamber. The beam tore through not just the Scuttler but dozens of smaller creatures hiding in the shadows, reducing them to ash.

The air crackled with residual energy as the beam faded, leaving a scorched path in its wake. Ray stared, his jaw slack. "Tsuki… that was incredible. You're really powerful."

Tsuki turned to him, her eyes gleaming with pride but her tone humble. "I am only powerful because of your name, Master. It's a power I use to protect you."

Wogg, however, seemed entirely unfazed. He shrugged, hefting his axe. "That's what I expected from her. Fanrirs aren't ordinary monsters, you know."

Ray shook his head, still processing the sheer scale of destruction Tsuki had unleashed. He barely had time to recover before the remaining monsters charged. Though fewer in number now, they were still formidable, and Ray knew he couldn't rely on Tsuki for everything.

He took a deep breath, charging into battle alongside Wogg. His APW shifted into a broadsword, its sharp edge cleaving through the first monster with ease. Wogg roared, swinging his axe in wide arcs, cutting down anything that came close.

The Scuttler, though injured, still posed a threat. It skittered around the chamber, trying to flank them. Tsuki growled, positioning herself to block its movements. Working together, they managed to corner it. Ray drove his blade into the creature's thorax, ending its life. The monster disintegrated into a pile of shimmering dust, leaving behind a glowing orb.

Ray picked it up, examining it with curiosity. "Another loot drop," he said, adding it to his storage. "These might come in handy later."

The group pressed on, and soon, they came to a massive door adorned with intricate carvings. Tsuki stepped forward, sniffing the air. "The boss room is just beyond this door," she said.

Ray's heart raced as they pushed the door open. The room beyond was massive, with walls that seemed to stretch endlessly upward. At the center stood the boss: a towering, bipedal insect-like creature. Its carapace gleamed with a metallic sheen, and its movements were almost too fast for the eye to follow.

"That's a Venom Strider," Tsuki explained, her tone serious. "It's a bug-type monster, highly agile and venomous. Its bites and stings can paralyze, and its speed makes it hard to hit. Be careful, Master."

The creature let out a shrill screech and charged. Ray barely had time to react as it closed the distance in an instant, slashing at him with its clawed limbs. He dodged clumsily, his lack of combat experience glaringly obvious.

"Damn, it's fast," he muttered, gripping his weapon tightly.

The Venom Strider pressed its advantage, forcing Ray to retreat. He managed to block some of its attacks, but its relentless speed left him struggling to keep up.

Tsuki growled, stepping in to support him. She unleashed another energy beam, this one more controlled than before, aimed directly at the boss. The Venom Strider dodged, but the beam still grazed it, leaving a burn mark on its carapace.

The monster screeched in anger and summoned reinforcements: smaller, but no less dangerous, bug-like creatures that swarmed the room.

"More of them?!" Ray exclaimed, panic creeping into his voice.

"Don't lose focus," Tsuki said, her voice steady. She leapt into the fray, her claws slashing through the swarm with ease.

Wogg joined her, his powerful swings scattering the smaller creatures. Ray took a deep breath, steadying himself. "I can't let them do all the work," he muttered, charging back into the fight.

Despite his lack of skill, Ray's natural strength as a Lunarian shone through. His strikes were clumsy but powerful, cutting down several of the smaller monsters. Together, the trio whittled down the swarm until only the boss remained.

The Venom Strider, now cornered, lashed out desperately. Ray saw an opening and lunged, his APW transforming into a spear. He drove it into the creature's abdomen, pinning it to the ground.

"Finish it, Master!" Tsuki called out.

Ray twisted the spear, channeling his energy into the weapon. The Venom Strider let out one final screech before collapsing, its body disintegrating into dust.

A glowing chest appeared where the boss had fallen. Ray opened it, finding several items inside, including a strange crystal.

"This must be the boss loot," he said, examining the crystal. "Looks valuable."

Tsuki nodded. "It's a sign we've cleared the floor. Good work, Master."

Ray smiled, his confidence slowly growing. "Thanks, Tsuki. I couldn't have done it without you and Wogg."

With the first floor cleared, the group prepared to move deeper into the dungeon, ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.

Thank you for reading... It's already been two chapters since we've entered a new arc. All I can tell you about is that this chapter is going to be a bigger one with fully action packed. It's really important for Ray's improvement. So, please have patience.
