Skate Offer
(Eventually, Lynnon and Nana get food. They sit on the edge of a fountain which was in an opening of a park trail. Trees around let in the smallest amount of light possible, making the atmosphere around them seem very green and warm. While Lynnon got a sandwich, Nana got a salad. Immediately, Lynnon starts to regret the choice of getting a sandwich but she starts to eat her food either way)
Nana-" Do you want some?"
(Lynnon looks over surprised by how Nana even knew she wanted some. He chuckles before getting some salad on his fork for her to eat)
Nana-" You aren't very good at hiding your eyes from eyeing my food"
(Lynnon gets flustered by his response)
Lynnon-" That's no fair"
(Nana lifts the fork with one hand and covers the bottom with the other as he casually feeds Lynnon. For a second Lynnon stared at Nana before he took the fork out of her mouth)
Nana-" Is it good?"
(Lynnon nods then swallows before they continue eating, Nana giving Lynnon bites of his salad now and then)
Lynnon-" So. I wanted to talk about our college situation. Where do you plan on going?"
Nana-" I- I don't know"
Lynnon-" Your mom had that website for you to look at. What college was that for?"
(Nana sighs and stops eating)
Nana-" Some college in Canada"
(Lynnon was surprised by his answer)
Lynnon-" Canada?! If you're going out of the US, it must be a great college"
Nana-" The thing is... I don't want to leave Texas"
(Nana looks over at Lynnon)
Nana-" I don't want to leave you, Lynnon"
Lynnon-" Your education is much more important than some crush Nana"
Nana-" You aren't just some crush Lynnon. You've been my friend for years which just makes it harder"
Lynnon-" You're such a dork"
(Lynnon messes with Nana's hair)
Nana-" I'm not joking. I want to go to college with you. I'll drive you wherever you want to go, buy you whatever you want to eat. I seriously don't want to leave you Lynnon. You mean too much to me"
(Suddenly, Lynnon started to feel guilty. She knew that she had to tell Nana)
Lynnon-" You should just go to that college in Canada..."
Nana-" Do you really want me to leave that badly?"
Lynnon-" No! Of course not! It's just.. I don't think I'll even get to go to college"
(Lynnon's reasoning really shocked Nana)
Lynnon-" I have nowhere near enough money to even go to community college"
Nana-" But your dad-"
Lynnon-" My dad doesn't give a damn whether I go to college or not. He won't pay for anything"
(Lynnon starts to kick a few rocks in front of her feet)
Lynnon-" All I wanted was to keep the promise I made to my mami, but now I'm just going to let her down. I don't know what to do"
Nana-" We can ask my mom"
(Lynnon looks over at Nana)
Lynnon-" We?"
Nana-" I'm going to whatever college you're going to Lynnon. I'm not changing my mind"
(Lynnon starts to shake her head)
Lynnon-" No you're not-"
Nana-" I'm not leaving you"
Lynnon-" Still! I'm not going to ask your mom to pay for MY college fee. That's so stupid"
Nana-" She wouldn't mind. She already sees you as her family"
(Lynnon puts her hand over Nana's face to stop him from seriously staring at her)
Lynnon-" Yet you still see me as a future girlfriend you weirdo"
(They both have a small laugh)
Nana-" There's nothing weird about having a not-so-secret secret admirer"
(Nana grabs her hand and pulls it down a bit)
Nana-" It's just life"
(Nana kisses the top of Lynnon's hand before she rolls her eyes and covers his face again. Hours go by. Lynnon and Nana hear Nana's mom car pulls into the driveway)
Lynnon-" Oh no... I changed my mind"
(Lynnon tries to run off but Nana catches her and picks her up before she could get far)
Nana-" Stop trying to run away"
(Lynnon squirms while Nana walks them to the living room and places Lynnon down on the couch. He walks over to the door just in time for his mom to be a few feet away from the keyhole)
Mom-" Nana?! You're up this late?"
Nana-" At least it wasn't on a night shift?"
(Nana's mom kisses him on the cheek before seeing Lynnon on the couch)
Mom-" You too Lynnon? Is something wrong?"
Nana-" Actually, we wanted to ask you something"
(Nana's mom gets a bit confused as she's brought to the living room by Nana. Nana sits down next to Lynnon while Nana's mom stands in front of them)
Lynnon-" So... um"
(Lynnon sits with her legs connected like glue and her arms out, touching her legs at her knees)
Lynnon-" I can't afford college"
Mom-" Honey..."
(Lynnon looks down)
Lynnon-" I wonder if, maybe, you could help pay for my college? I understand if it's too much to ask for but-"
Mom-" Lynnon. This is your time for freedom. I have no problem paying for your college sweetie"
Lynnon-" Really?! Thank you Thank you Thank you!"
(Lynnon jumps forward and hugs Nana's mom)
Nana-" And me..."
(Lynnon and his Mom put their attention to Nana)
Nana-" Mom. I want to go to college with Lynnon"
Mom-" Nana. You know-"
Nana-" I know you want me to go to that college in Canada but I don't want to leave home. I just feel like this is the right choice"
(Nana's Mom sighs before calling him over. He joins in the hug and she agrees to let Nana stay here)
Lynnon-" Goodnight Nana"
Nana-" Goodnight"
(Lynnon and Nana go to their separate rooms. While Lynnon gets ready and into her bed, she hears a ding from her phone. She reaches over to her nightstand and grabs her phone)
