33. Letting her go

Rory felt relieved. She felt like a heavy burden had been lifted off her head.

She had prepared to try hard in making Esther think otherwise of her. Anything else but a betrayer. And she was glad it took just a few minutes to resolve the issue.

Hayford was a difficult one. She knew talking to him would be irrelevant. People like him were more convinced through actions rather than words. So she would leave him alone for now.

She was aware he wouldn't easily believe in her words. So she would rather prove him wrong with her actions.

Rory left for her room, her spirits high and her mood much better. Her eyes still hurt from crying so much in one day, and the headache was mild now. With some rest, it would subside, she thought.

She got to her room and fell on her bed. Trying not to think about anything, she closed her eyes for a short nap, and then she would prepare for school. And, as if her body was waiting for this relief, she soon dozed off.
