Chapter: 14

'Though what really confuses me is why hasn't she talked about the earth?' Yun Che wondered, confused.

Since Phoenix had read his memories, he thought she would be more astonished about finding the fact that this world was a fictional world. He was sure this would break all his common sense into pieces.

But he was confused seeing Phoenix not acting according to his assumptions. It looked like she had no idea regarding the earth he came from.

'Did she not get access to those memories?'

That was possible — Yun Che thought. He doubted that whichever entity had reincarnated him would allow other beings to know about the knowledge which they shouldn't be privy of.

'Or…'

Another possibility appeared within Yun Che's mind.

If he remembered correctly, phoenix is only able to read the memories. And only those memories that happened real time. For example, she shouldn't be able to read dreams and so on. In simple words, she was able to see only what happened but not that which didn't.

She must have a way to ignore the memories which were considered as dreams and focus only on those which really happened.

If one thought in that way, and considered the previous earth like a dream, then it made sense!

'Because those memories were classified as dreams for Yun Che aka me, she unconsciously ignored those and only focused on those which really happened; meaning the memories of Yun Che and mine after I took over Yun Che's body! In simple terms, she has no fucking idea I'm a reincarnated being, doesn't she?'

This somehow put Yun Che's mind at ease.

Knowing about his system was one thing and knowing about his reincarnation was another. The system could be explained like a special talent or profound art to these people, but reincarnation was a whole different concept; especially when it included a whole fucking different world and not just a different continent.

All in all, Yun Che was glad. He sighed before looking up at the unblinking eyes and said.

"I'm done."

"You are!?" The phoenix screamed in astonishment. "You're saying you learned my World Ode of the Phoenix in a glance?!"

Yun Che frowned.

'Doesn't she know about the system? What the fuck is going on?'

Of course, the fact that she knows about the system was based upon his assumption that she knows about the system. It wasn't a fact.

Yun Che started to question if she even knows about the system or not.

"Yeah. Look—"

Suddenly, flames erupted out from Yun Che and started gathering at his head, soon taking the shape of a phoenix!

The Phoenix's eyes widened to extreme seeing this.

"How can you use the full version of it?! That shouldn't even be possible! The World Ode of the Phoenix that I gave you was incomplete! Only by gaining the full inheritance from the other spirit should you be able to use the complete version of the Fifth Stage - Empyrean Dance of the Phoenix Wing! How are you able to use it while only comprehending the incomplete version!?"

'Ah shit! She really doesn't know about the system! Fuck! Why didn't anyone tell me that I had an anti-reincarnated knowledge act working on me! If I had known it, I wouldn't have shown this version of the art to her! Well, fuck it. Not like it's my fault. Anyone would have thought the same. Reading memories used to be simple and not this complicated!'

"Well, what can I say… I'm somewhat of a genius myself."

"..." The phoenix didn't know what to say.

"Forget it. Even this princess doesn't know what to take from this freak of nature. This princess has seen him doing more absurd things. This doesn't even phase her anymore!"

"... And why do you look so proud about it?" Phoenix questioned. Both of these were weird. One was a freak of nature while the other acted as if it was natural.

"Humph! Of course this princess is proud. This princess is his master after all." Jasmine smirked as if what Yun Che did was normal and should be expected. "This princess's teachings aren't something that can be compared by anyone."

"..."

Both Yun Che and Phoenix were left speechless at Jasmine's shameless advertisement of herself.

What teaching? Isn't it all just pure comprehension talent? — though none of them said it out loud. Jasmine had the power to kill both of them with a flick of her finger, as such, both decided to remain quiet.

"Anyways, though this one would like to spend more time with you and learn more about you, as you have piqued my interest, your companions outside won't be able to hold for long. You should leave now."

Sighing at the fact that his secret was still a secret and happy at the fact that he was able to get the inheritance without any problem, Yun Che bowed towards Phoenix to show respect before turning around and leaving the cave.

The phoenix silently watched Yun Che's back before a sigh left her mouth.

"I hope you are able to divert the coming calamity, child of fate."

Soon, the cave lost the lustrous light which came from phoenix eyes and returned to silence.

The moment Yun Che appeared outside, he was suddenly hit by a flying projectile.

With the huge force, Yun Che barely stopped himself from launching away with whatever that hit him and only stumbled a step or two.

Gritting his teeth, he looked down to find a black-haired unconscious woman within his arms.

His eyes widened before he shouted.

"Why!?"

"Brother Yun Che!" Baichuan, seeing Yun Che return, shouted with happiness. "You have finally returned!"

But Yun Che didn't answer him, instead he continued his shout from before and questioned loudly.

"Why the fuck this woman keep on throwing herself at me and fell unconsciousness the moment later?! Does she want me to take her that badly!?"

Of course, the woman in his arms was Cang Yue.

He clearly remembered leaving her back at Baichuan's house.

He wanted to wait till she woke up but then he decided otherwise and entered the trial. He thought that she would be awake when he came back. But, instead, he got the same treatment from her that he did when she first appeared—unconscious and thrown at him!

"Forgive me, Brother Yun Che! This Baichuan wasn't strong enough to stop those barbarians. Miss Xueruo stood to protect us, but even her strength wasn't enough to fight against the leader of those barbarians. In the end, we were forced to run into the phoenix grounds and hide ourselves within the barrier."

Yun Che finally took his eyes off from the unconscious Cang Yue and looked around. He found out that the entrance of the phoenix trails was actually crowded with all of the phoenix village people! All of them were huddled together, not willing to leave the barrier protecting the Phoenix Trial.

Yun Che looked further and found that the whole barrier's outer rim was surrounded by people who had vicious expressions. All of them looked like they couldn't wait to kill everyone inside.

Yun Che frowned and looked towards Baichuan.

"Reconnect me. What has happened since I entered the trial?"
