Chapter 34

I WAS LOCKED IN.

Xeros had no other choice, but to show me to my supposed new home in this horror-filled place. I could tell by his face that he was hesitant to leave me but I had to reassure him I would be fine. Even though we both knew it was a blatant lie, he didn't call me out on it.

Metal rods were laid in a crisscross pattern, with only tiny gaps to stick your hand out. The revolting stench of sewage was still present, even down this far. The lights flickered on and off every few seconds, filling the place with a constant buzzing noise. In the distance, the faint sound of water dripping onto the ground could be heard. However, with the metal bars locking me in, the outside was almost completely blocked from me vision. I curled up into a small ball, pushing myself to the back of the cold cell like the other women had. Now, it was just a case of waiting for Xeros to execute whatever plan he had.
