Charles turned at Christina after he recollected that
memory. He didn't know why but that memory had suddenly appeared at this point.
He had never for once ruminated over that moment but at this time, he only
cared about one thing - the woman before him.
"Christina," he began in a deep yet seemly voice.
"You are that pleasurable dream I never want to wake up from, the moment I
pray to never becomes a memory and your voice is the melody I wish to listen to
eternally."
Christina's cheeks blushed red but she quickly turned her
head away. She was expecting another reply after she told him the truth. She
still loved Jason even though he did something despicable but that couldn't be
everything about him... Right?!
"I'm not saying you should leave the one who makes you
happy," Charles continued. "But I'll be by your side no matter
what."
Christina turned at him, his face was solemn and truthful -
like he meant every word he said. It sounded like something she had told Jason
on numerous occasions but he'd always laugh it off and said she was dramatic
even though she meant everything.
The man before her told her all of that and he reeked of
sincerity. Who exactly was he and the event yesterday... None of it made any
sense. There was a piece to this puzzle she was missing.
She was about to speak but their attention was taken away
from them by the sound of the doorbell.
"I have to get that," Christina stood up briskly.
Her hair was scattered and her face was a mess. She was still in the same
clothes she wore yesterday but they were badly ripped - due to her wold
transformation.
She remembered walking in darkness until she came across a
silver wolf but for some reason, she felt no fear and touched the wolf.
As she made contact, her body was transported and she found
herself on the green lushy ground and there was a masculine body resting atop
her - it was Charles.
There were flashes of light and one of them was about to be
pointed at her.
Fortunately, the moon above her hid under a cloud, and
dramatically, her body reverted to her human form. She wasn't aware that this
had taken place.
All she remembered was that people had begun to take
pictures of her and Charles. They all laughed merrily about it and within
moments, they had dispersed.
She didn't understand what had transpired or the
implications of what happened but seeing Charles. She remembered how he was in
a fight with the housemaster for Kingsville hostel. She couldn't leave him by
himself so she thought that it would be best to take him to her apartment.
To her surprise, she carried him effortlessly. He felt so
light - like a feather and that wasn't the only new development.
The people who were taking pictures of her had suddenly
begun to move in slow motion.
She could see the expressions on their faces forming, their
legs took a longer time to change position. She was able to walk around them -
with Charles hunched on her shoulder.
She didn't understand what was happening but it was
enthralling to witness.
She decided to take a jog and within seconds, she reached
her apartment's door. Earlier, it had taken her seven minutes while running as
fast as she could but now she did it within forty-five seconds.
"What the hell is happening to my body?" Her face
gleamed with excitement.
She hurried inside and set Charles on her bed. He had small
cuts but none of them appeared fatal.
"Most of his injuries are probably internal,"
Christina muttered to herself. "But what the hell?! The housemaster did
try to murder me. Fuck! This mister has a lot of explaining to do when he wakes
up."
Her body began to shudder but it wasn't because of the
rain's cold. She was beginning to hyperventilate, her heart beat so fast it
felt like it would break from her chest. She looked at her palms and watched
them shiver.
Her left eye twitched uncomfortably and she dropped to her
knees but there was an aching sensation, it was all too familiar. She was
hungry.
"I'd get something to eat later," she told herself
and looked at Charles. "I have to help him."
Pulling out a first aid kit from under her bed, she removed
the methylated spirit, bandage, and plaster.
"I have to remove his shirt," she tugged at his
collar, and to her surprise, it ripped off to shreds.
She trembled back in fear and caught her breath, she wasn't
expecting that development but she continued with her mission.
She tore out his shirt completely and her mouth opened wide
in wonder. His body was an artistic masterpiece - with properly rounded
shoulders, finely-toned chest, well-developed traps, well-defined abdomens, and
a narrow waist.
Hitched to the belt of his trousers were two daggers, a
small mirror, and one scimitar.
She found herself staring at his body more than she would
like to admit. "Stop it, Christie," she told herself. "Get over
yourself, you have a boyfriend."
As she said that, her mind flashed back to the event that
had Jason sleeping with Donna.
She hissed weakly and got to work. She applied methylated
spirit on the cuts and put plaster. She was careful and methodical while
applying the bandages - making sure not to use too little or too much.
After she was done, she slumped to the ground tiredly. The
rumbling sound from her stomach woke her up. She stood to her full height and
held her stomach. She was unbelievably hungry but to her surprise, she found
the man on her bed so appetizing. She fiddled with his chest and as she did,
saliva dropped from her teeth. "Perhaps, one bite wouldn't hurt," she
licked her lips ravenously.
She slapped herself back to her senses. "Christie, what
the fuck is wrong with you? You see some crazy shit in the night and you become
a cannibal. Christina the Cannibal has a nice ring to it."
She laughed to herself but quickly came to her senses.
"I'll find something to eat."
She arranged the first aid box before inserting it back
under the bed. Afterward, she packed the remainder of the torn clothes and
materials that weren't used while administering treatment to Charles.
She left the room and threw the waste materials in the waste
bin and then, the rumbling sensation visited but this time, it was a thousand
times stronger!
Ahhh!
Christina fell to the ground and held her stomach as tightly
as she could. She was so hungry and she didn't understand why - it felt like
her stomach was empty.
She ran to the freezer and tried to open it but to her
surprise - she tore off the door.
But her hunger was so intense that she didn't care. She
packed a bar of Mars ' chocolate in the freezer.
She tore off the wrapper and bit into it. She gobbled it
down like it was water and within seconds, she found out that she had eaten
nearly every bar of chocolate in the freezer but the more she ate, the more
hungry she was.
A new sensation emerged - it was as if the food had reached
up to her throat and wanted to come out from that new opening. She wanted to
throw up.
She packed different cans and packs of food before running
to the toilet, and immediately, she got there, she opened the toilet seat and
vomited. She cried in pain as it felt like a little blood escaped her stomach
to join the vomited food but as insane as it was, she was still famished.
She ate more from the foodstuffs she brought to the toilet.
The more she ate, the hungrier she was and the hungrier she
was, the more she vomited.
She began to weep profusely as each vomit exerted so much
pain on her body and her head ached so much it felt like it would burst.
She cried painfully but couldn't stop herself. Whatever the
hell was happening to her!
Soon, she had consumed everything around her but the hunger
persisted. She vomited all of the contents she had consumed into the toilet.
Her body was weak and spent - she didn't know what to do.
And then, she heard a familiar voice. She turned to see who
it was - Charles was standing in the doorway but his legs weren't the only
thing standing. His soldier also stood at attention, erect like an arrow
readied on a bow.
Christina shook her head after remembering last night's
events, she was so quick to leave the bathroom that she wasn't cognizant of how
she presently looked. She opened the door without checking who it was.
And she regretted that because as soon as she did, Jason
rushed inside, his face boiling with rage.
"Where is he?!" He gritted his teeth.
Christina was taken aback by his words and his actions. She
had never seen him so upset before but she knew she had to speak.
"Who?"
"That bastard you were getting freaky with at the
school fountain. I shoulda known something was up when I saw him getting
friendly with you at the hostel. Donna told me she would handle it, I should
never have trusted her."
Christina could still feel a terrible headache but
everything clicked - the people who were taking pictures of her at the
fountain. They must have posted it on social media which advertently caused a
trend and Jason must have seen it. But she didn't care about that, all she
cared about was her hunger.
And Jason looked so delicious - perhaps one chunk from him
wouldn't hurt.
Saliva dripped from her teeth as her eyes undressed Jason -
she imagined his body naked and served on a silver platter.
She made her way towards him and licked her lips. Jason saw
her and his upset face slowly changed into a confused one. He clearly didn't
understand what was happening but while he was trying to make sense.
Christina dove her teeth into his left shoulder and pulled
out a mouthful of flesh.
"Ahhrghghh!" He screamed in agony as blood gushed
out speedily. Blood was smeared all over Christina's lips but the taste of
flesh was so delicious - she wanted more.
Jason's face - ridiculed with pain and fear turned to
Christina who eyed him dangerously. "Who are you?"
"Shush," Christina gleamed playfully as she
swallowed. "Food shouldn't speak."
