the marketplace wasn't very crowded. This was just a small mortal town. So, this is not unusual.
Xue looked left and right to find someone that needs help. But she could not find such people. She looked around more but still couldn't help anyone.
"Maybe aunty wang would have some chores she needs help with."
She decided to go to aunty wangs store in hopes to find some chores to do.
"Aunt wang."
"Oh my, if it isn't little Xue! do you need something? Maybe some cookies, or some breads?"
Xue looked at the women in front of her. This was aunt wang. She was a woman in her 40s. aunt wang didn't have any children. So, she treated the little children from the orphanage with care. It seemed her husband mistreated her for not being able to conceive a child.
"I want to help aunty wang with the chores."
"Oh! what happened little Xue, do you need money? You know I will always lend some if you ask."
"No, I don't need money. I just want to help."
Aunty wang looked at Xue and smiled.
"You know you don't have to, though."
Xue shook her head to show her resolve to work.
"Okey you can help. Just sit beside me and help me sell these things."
Xue nodded her head and sat down besides aunt wang. She looked as customers came and bought the fruits that aunty wang was selling. Xue couldn't help much aside from calculating the costs. Though aunty wang was to be very impressed with Xue's arithmetic abilities.
in the noon aunt wang sold all her fruits and packed up to go home.
"Here, take these. These are gifts for helping me."
Aunt wang gave Xue a pouch of dried fruits. Xue took the pouch and thanked aunt wang. After greeting aunt wang goodbye Xue left for the orphanage.
